Conservative Minority

Moving In The Right Direction

August Book Report

, , , ,

Well what have you’ve been reading lately? I heard on a TV news report that only 58% of graduates after college chose to read books. I admit I do very little reading at home. Most of my reading is done on my train commute back and forth to work and Saturday excursions from Lansdale to Philly. I also read during lunch breaks whenever I can squeeze them in at work.

My readings in the past for example have been Dude Where’s My Country and Stupid White Men both by Michael Moore, and Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them by Al Franken. My choice of books has changed somewhat since embracing conservatism. During my time of unemployment, I started reading books by conservatives. I was able to read such books as Scam by Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, Slander by Ann Coulter, and Unhinged by Michelle Malkin from my local library.

I have and continue to read Christian faith based books such as The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren. Really what serious Christian has not read this book? Non Christians have read this book resulting in many making a commitment to Christ. Since I am working in a Black Muslim neighborhood, I am rereading parts of Race, Religion and Racism Volume 3 by Frederick K. C. Price D. D. which challenges Islam as the black man’s true religion. Dr. Price also proves that Islam is no contender to true Christianity.

In a little over a month’s time I have just read:

  • Rebuilding America by J, Kenneth Blackwell and Jerome R. Corsi, Ph.D.Mr. Blackwell is the republican candidate for Governor of Ohio. His book gives his plan for building strong families and increasing employment through business channels not government based entitlement programs in economically depressed urban centers in Ohio.

  • Winning the Race: Beyond the Crisis of Black America by John McWhorter. Black America did a better job dealing under much stronger prevailing (legal) racism in the past. His prescription is to have the outlook and attitude black people had before the 1960s to work, family, and education. McWhorter gives a strong case against welfare and affirmative action.

  • Godless by Ann Coulter. I did not agree with her comments on child care provider (teachers) salaries, because a degreed teacher in the centers that I have directed could make 11.00 an hour tops, which adds up to a little fewer than 23000.00 a year. Most are either in the 9 or 10.00 range. One can only live in a government subsidized apartment/house (and many do), or join in with 3 others to rent on those wages in the Philly, PA. I did not like her comment about a few of the 9/11 widows enjoying the death of their husbands. I do agree with most of what I read in her book especially the chapters on evolution. That is a must read.

  • Praying the Ten Commandments by Cleddie Keith. For Christians, this book is a strong help for strengthening your prayer life.

Now I had this book topic in mind for this blog a few weeks ago, but La Shawn Barber beat me to it. After reading her post on books she is reading, I ordered Enough
by Juan Williams and Character Building by Booker T. Washington (I ordered the last one in stock at Amazon). I have started reading Enough, and it is very compelling.

Now that I have shared with you the recent books in my life and what is next on my agenda, please share your reading agenda.

Update
Charcter Building by Booker T Washington and all other books mentioned are available at Amazon.
