The new invention of the science that is the ignition coil is a remarkable change in the world of the automobile. The ignition coil is also being termed as the spark coil is a type of automobile ignition system which transforms the voltage. The work of the ignition coil is to transform the low voltage to the high voltage. Since the battery is at rest so the low voltage of the battery is being transferred to high voltage via the ignition coil. The ignition coil helps to apply a spark to the spark plug to start the engine of the automobile which is ignited up.
Some of the ignition coil has their own internal resistance while the other depends on the external resistance of the coil. The maximum limit up to which the coil could resist is about 12 volt. There is a wire which is being attached to the ignition coil to the distributor and that wire is being again drawn to the distributors of the each spark plug which are termed as spark plug wires or another name of it is the high tension leads. Now a days as the cars require more power to start up so to break the spark after the ignition it requires a mechanical breakdown to stop it. To break it a capacitor is being required in which the charge is being store on .the breaking mechanism is termed as contract breaker.
The basic structure of the ignition coil is like as; it is being made of two iron core surrounded by the copper wires. It does not woks like the power transmission system it has its own magnetic core which creates the magnetic field. The iron core which is being wounded up does not form a winding. The energy which is being stored in the iron wire s is being generally transferred to the spark plug while ignition of the coil. In the modern times the ignition system is also being used in the cars too while previously is used in the two wheelers. During this time the ignition coil does not have a distributor it is controlled electrically.
