A rolling stone gathers no moss

Taken literally, "A rolling stone gathers no moss" accurately describes that moss will not grow on a piece of rock which is moving by revolving or turning over and over. However, the phrase is most commonly used as a proverb. "Moss" can be related to "stagnation". As such, the proverb is often interpreted as referring to those who always keep trying to make their life better. I think it's true for all aspects of life. In studying, if you are not endowed to be an intelligent student, you have to be a diligent one. For example, a friend of mine who was in the top five of class always did her assigned exercises. Moreover, she usually visited the library to search for extra information. Obviously, what she got is a result of her diligence. In addition, I also have a friend who didn't have to harvest his time or effort in lessons but always acquire great performance on studying just because he genuinely smart. Not only in studying but also in other fields, this proverbs also proves its correctness through working. Job skills are not what every man may get. It's a long process of training, non-stop working and searching. No one was born to be a prodigy without arduous process of training, it's easily verified in sports. For example, Micheal Phelps who has overall won 16 Olympic medals. Few people do know that to get glorious victories he has to practice for hours every day since he was 7 years old. In short, this proverb reminds us never stop moving forward so that we can get many successes in life as we are deserved.
