RoseGarden: a composition musical free environment
The famous housing platform of projects open-source SourceForge.net has just elected the RoseGarden project of the month. This project is a professional audio and MIDI sequencer, score editor, and general-purpose music composition and editing environment ( freely available and in open-source).
A reader of Generation NT wrote some weeks ago a comment relating to an item on Linux, in which it explained that it could not pass to Linux so as the latter would not have filled its gaps regarding software intend for the professionals of music.
The professional word had there all sound importance, for projects as the reader Amarok or the editor audio Audacity already offer to the special ones of the products of very big quality.
It was without counting on RoseGarden, the garden of roses, that offers a continuation of creation tools, of mounting and of musical edition of very big quality, for the modest sum of ... 0€ (

To obtain RoseGarden, it is possible to download the sources since the website of the project (here), then to compile it, but being given the numerous bookstores of which depends the project, this is not maybe so simple for the novices

Fortunately, blessed user of Linux, this software is present on the dépots of the principal distributions Linux. Thus, a simple "apt-getinstall rosegarden4" will suffice to install it on Debian or Ubuntu.
RoseGarden offers a complete solution (creation and musical edition), that includes:

the complete support of MIDI equipment
a blender that allows to show and modify the tracks
