Well after 5 days in the County Jail, yes I did say the County jail, I am home with the flu no less. The acting Judge, (a reffere) had me put in there cause I had my court date mixed up. I did not miss cause I did not want to go, I just thought it was 3 days later then it really was. She set my bail at almost $3000.00 cash, knowing I could not come up with that much she thought I would be in there until after Christmas. Now here is the other part. This acting Judge is also the acting Judge on the case dealing with my children. How conveinet.... She knew 2 of my children were going to be here for Christmas, and what better way to make it look like I am a bad mother after DHR was spending the money to get the children here then to have me locked up. Thank goodness there was a real Judge that did not like what she did, and I got out on a $300.00 cash bail. But what this woman does not realize is it is hard to keep a job when she wants you in her court room every other week. That is why I lost my last job. Her favorite saying is your childern need you and they need you here when I need you here and I don't care if that is every day of the week.
Now let me tell you about my time in the county jail. It was not a picnic, and I did not expect it to be. But I thought they had to be humane. First of all there are people with hepitis, staff infections, and who knows what else in the general population. Do they care? No. They have dorms that are open, and between 24-40 beds. So you are always in with people that are sick. The food they serve is marked "Not for human Consuption" Is that really allowed? I did not think so. And the worst part is the tempature. They get it warm just to make it cold, and then they wonder why so many people get sick and stay sick. Even animals at shelters get treated better. I'm not saying that there are people that don't deserve to be in jail, but there are people in jail that really don't deserve it. I was bunked with a girl that was also in there on non payment of child support. She can barely read and write not to mention the dislexia she has. But she spent 5 months the first time and now 2 more? How is she supposed to work if no one will hire her cause she has this learning disiblity? It just does not seem right... Instead of trying to help her get help with this problem they just lock her up. This county really has a good way of showing that they are trying to help.
Well I think more people should get involved, to make things better instead of just cowering. Until they do nothing will change. You know when a state has the moto of "Keeping families together at all costs" then you would think that is what they would do. But this county just uses that to make themselves look good. People need to stand up and get the point across that things need to change, and laws are laws for a reason, not to be changed to suit them when they want to do it their way.
