No Rest On Sunday

, , , , , , , , , , ,

So, if anyone uses Upcoming, then you may have noticed I've got quite the busy day ahead of me. My camera battery is charged (ish) and so I'll be armed and ready to report back on what happens and what doesn't.

Here's what's going down:

Prestwich Clough Day 2007
This is an event my Uncle is helping organise. He got me to do a website for it - so I have to be there. It's a family-friendly outdoor event featuring all manner of activities; Brass Bands, Morris Dancers, Falconry Display, Folk Music and more. It's just a shame that today, much like the past few days, it's going to be raining.

Tea Time Tango!!
Kicking off at 4pm in the centre of town, three bands are going to be playing some music at The Castle Hotel. I've never been there, or heard of Tea Time Tango!! before, but am going to see Vile Vile Creatures. Should be good - even though I'll be going on my own... anyone want to come?

Filmonik
From about 7pm, I'll be leaving the Tea Time Tango!! and strolling down the road to meet some people at Matt & Phred's and be in attendance of Filmonik. Apparently, this is the 26th Filmonik - but the first time I've heard of it. With regular monthly screenings, it offers independent filmmakers the chance to showcase their films for the first time in what is deemed an open-mic night for filmmakers.

One thing that's not listed on Upcoming is that on Monday I've got an interview at a company called The Direction. Wish me luck!

Wow! You are busy. The tango thing sounds fun. I don't know how to tango, but it always sounded fun. Post some of the pictures you take. I'd love to see them.

Good luck with the interview. Don't forget that business people like it if you wear a T-shirst with a silly slogan on it and faded jeans with several rips down the leg.

If you leave the fly unzipped that may make an even bigger impression.

Call everyone 'Mate' except for the guy that appears to be the boss. Call him 'Boss'.

Chat up all the girls you see. It won't matter, You'll never see them again.

That's how I got where I am today.

Amy - Anytime you're in the country I'll be happy to teach you to tango. Basically you just grip the can, push your finger under the ring and pull it, this leaves a hole, then empty the can via the hole down your throat. I know it sounds complicated, but it's pretty easy once you've seen it demonstrated.

Call me.

You drink when you tango? I'm confused. I like the dance though. I think it's pretty. Now as for drinking while doing it... that could get complicated.

This one's a great one. --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKCwcCMAnxg

Oh well, it looks like fun.

Dang. Obviously you don't get the stuff over there. We have a range of fizzy fruit drinks (All made by Coca-cola of course....) called Tango. If you've never heard of them that kinda treads on the joke just a little bit.

As it happens I probably could teach you the Argentine tango, I can't make any sense out of the ballroom variety but I watched a two hour video about Astor Piazzolla, who's a tango musician, and I must have picked something up along the way. In any case the country that has more tango dancers than any other in the world apart from Argentina itself is Finland, and that's just across the channel from here. I could be over there, learn to tango, and be back before you were even halfway across the Atlantic.
