Air Adam Podcast

, , , ...

"Playing in clubs is cool but restricts you to how many people you can get into the venue," tells Air Adam, who is more commonly known amongst Manchester folk for his DJing and also amongst Flickr members for his photography. "And of course, you need to keep it 'danceable' so there's a lot of stuff which is difficult/impossible to fit into a set."

Adam is talking about his debut podcast. Launched in June 2009 and set for a monthly release, the self-titled recording exposes his raw passion and interest for Hip-Hop and provides interesting and educational insight that can be appreciated by avid followers or newcomers to the genre.

"It's really a way for me to share and get into discussions on music. I grew up in the pre-internet era - at that time, there was little if any Hip-Hop on TV or commercial radio, and so for a kid with a limited budget wanting to learn about it there were three main sources of music and info; tape swapping, pirate radio and magazines."

Adam hopes that his podcast can use the internet as a platform to rekindle the personal essence of sharing music, the way exchanging a mix-tapes with a friend would - exposing the music he likes and that we'd like to hear - rather than have music imposed on us for commercial gain.

Keen to show that he's not to be pigeonholed, and helping the podcast reach a wider audience, Adam continues, "There'll be a mixture of Hip-Hop and music more generally, 'underground' and 'commercial', the somewhat known and the utterly forgotten, new and old, the conscious and the ignorant, and the straightforward and the slightly bizarre! I hope you'll find it interesting and entertaining."

The Air Adam Podcast is available on a free subscription via podcast.airadam.com and also through iTunes Music Store. Episode Two of the podcast was released today.

Die Antwoord (2009)

Ever since Emily Walker introduced me to MaxNormal.TV, I've played his album to death - I love it - the CHOMMIE toys that Max Normal and Yo-Landi Visser make are awesome too.

2009 has seen Max Normal transform into 'Ninja' and together with Yo-Landi, snor-rap superstar Jack Parow and DJ Hi-Tek become the collective Die Antwoord.

All you need to do to be one of the first to check them out is download the MP3s (.torrent) - a $ampler of their forthcoming rap-rave megamix album $o$.

Track Listing:
01. Doos Dronk (3:40)
