4am

, , , ...

It's 4am and I've just finished resizing and uploading some photos that I took recently at various Manchester club nights. The photos are nothing special, but you can see some here and some more here.

I like meeting people and taking pictures at club nights so I've started using coxy.me.uk/photos as a hub for photos like this - maybe I'll do it more often.

I've also been linking a lot of photos that aren't mine on my blog lately. Should I hot-link the original image, which is what I'm doing right now, or save a copy of the image onto Opera Community and source the original?

Hot-linking allows the original photographer to have control over removing their images - this has positive and negative points. Re-hosting and sourcing will ensure the blog doesn't break in future - but then, it does infringe on Copyright. It would be interesting to hear comments on this from readers and moderators.

It's been a while since I updated my photostream. I uploaded two new (old) photos today from when I last went to Bransford. I need to finish this roll of film in my Konica Auto S2.

100 Days of Obama

, , , ...

President Barack Obama takes aim with a photographer's camera backstage prior to remarks about providing mortgage payment relief for responsible homeowners.

President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama wear 3-D glasses while watching Super Bowl 43, Arizona Cardinals vs. Pittsburgh Steelers, at a Super Bowl Party in the family theater of the White House.

Since I don't live in America, I'm not to bothered about the daily ongoing of Barack Obama - America's presidents are just celebrities nowadays. But today, both Flickr and The Guardian inform me that Obama has been President for 100 days - both chose to 'celebrate' this occasion by presenting 'behind-the-scenes' photos of the man himself.

The Guardian seem to have sourced all their images from Getty Images, Corbis and The Associated Press (AP) - Flickr on the other-hand (or should that be upper-hand), have a photostream that's officially maintained by The White House and have made all their photos available in hi-resolution and under a creative commons license.

The photos on Flickr are impressive. Pete Souza - the photographer - has done a sterling job with the photo set 'Delivering on Change', and it's an interesting and eye-pleasing photostream.

In true British style (we love mediocrity here in the UK), Downing Street has a Flickr photostream too - but the photos are a bit shit and they're all copyright. Huzzah!

This is excellent. Victoria has reach 100 days of her 365 and this is her celebratory photo. You can super-size it.

I have to admit to telling her she'd only last a month. She has proved me wrong by hitting 100 days (or even by hitting 31 days), and I hope she continues to prove me wrong and reach the end of this 365 self portraiture.

Absolutely ages ago I bought some black and white Ilford film; the speed was 3200 and I couldn't wait to use it. The plan was to shoot Vile Vile Creatures - but we never got around to it. So, I took the camera to Worcester and used the film after Christmas, through to the end of January.

I shot this on a Diana+ where there's only 3 exposure settings - cloudy, partly cloudy and sunny - and so I'd set this to the longest one and started shooting.

The shot above is my friend Emily Walker on the train. I love the way the things passing the window have turned out, but wish the whole shot was a bit lighter. Photoshopping shows way too much grain.
