Air Adam Podcast

, , , ...

"Playing in clubs is cool but restricts you to how many people you can get into the venue," tells Air Adam, who is more commonly known amongst Manchester folk for his DJing and also amongst Flickr members for his photography. "And of course, you need to keep it 'danceable' so there's a lot of stuff which is difficult/impossible to fit into a set."

Adam is talking about his debut podcast. Launched in June 2009 and set for a monthly release, the self-titled recording exposes his raw passion and interest for Hip-Hop and provides interesting and educational insight that can be appreciated by avid followers or newcomers to the genre.

"It's really a way for me to share and get into discussions on music. I grew up in the pre-internet era - at that time, there was little if any Hip-Hop on TV or commercial radio, and so for a kid with a limited budget wanting to learn about it there were three main sources of music and info; tape swapping, pirate radio and magazines."

Adam hopes that his podcast can use the internet as a platform to rekindle the personal essence of sharing music, the way exchanging a mix-tapes with a friend would - exposing the music he likes and that we'd like to hear - rather than have music imposed on us for commercial gain.

Keen to show that he's not to be pigeonholed, and helping the podcast reach a wider audience, Adam continues, "There'll be a mixture of Hip-Hop and music more generally, 'underground' and 'commercial', the somewhat known and the utterly forgotten, new and old, the conscious and the ignorant, and the straightforward and the slightly bizarre! I hope you'll find it interesting and entertaining."

The Air Adam Podcast is available on a free subscription via podcast.airadam.com and also through iTunes Music Store. Episode Two of the podcast was released today.

Words.

, , , ...

If you're a regular reader to my blog, you'll probably notice that most of my blog posts consist primarily of pictures or imagery with some words accompanying said imagery. Usually, the words are few and far between - I'm not one for writing big essays about certain subjects on my blog because I don't think that's really what people are interested in reading. However, tonight shall be different.

Tonight I present to you a big long blog post. I'm in the mood for reading something long and informative and I thought what better thing to read that's long and informative than my own ramblings. It might not be interesting to everyone, but it may be to some of you. So, if you do read this blog post, it would be nice to receive some form of comment - if you have nothing in particular to say, just say hello or post a smilie - I'll appreciate it.

Right now I'm typing away on a little laptop. This is something I ordered a few weeks back, but was delivered yesterday; a Dell Inspiron Mini 9. Basically, it's a 9" laptop sans CD/DVD drive and it's really cool. So far tonight I've used it to stream Last.fm Radio to the kitchen speakers whilst I was cooking, watch and episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, full-screen on the BBC iPlayer, whilst eating my tea and now I'm listening to the latest episode of the Andrew Collins and Richard Herring Podcast.

I guess I'll just be using the mini-laptop for surfing the web when I'm not sat in front of my desktop computer. Also, I'll probably end up installing a Commodore 64 and Sega Mega Drive emulator, get a few good roms and use it to re-live my childhood gaming days. I didn't have a specific reason for buying the laptop other than the want to spend some money on expensive technology - it was preemptive comfort shopping too.

See, I'm officially no longer in a relationship with Vikki and today was the day that she moved out. Although what we both had together was good, we decided it was time to call it a day and so the past few weeks have been spent discussing things, moping about and also arranging for Vikki to move out and into a new house.

Although it was pretty much a mutual decision, our relationship was in no way bad - the idea is to move on and not ever let it get to that stage - but it is very strange to essentially lose someone who you've spent so much time with and around. But, it's all done now and I'm not going to talk about it much on my blog, I'm just going to have to adjust to living on my own in a big empty house - urgh, doing grown up stuff sucks.

I have loads of things to do at the minute; the kitten needs to be neutered, I need to make too many websites for people, I've just started a photography project of sorts, my Xbox 360 Elite needs to be fixed, I want to redecorate or rearrange the decor of this house, I finish working my notice period on Thursday and start a new job not long afterwards, people are coming to visit / stay over. Maybe this is where I should start to use my calendar, set myself deadlines and make sure I hit them.

Flash AH-HAH-AH

, , , ...

w00t! I got paid yesterday and so the first thing I did was get online and buy myself the Nikon SB-800 Speedlight that I was rambling on about in an earlier blog post.

Nikon SB-800 Speedlight

Since the Royal Mail are on strike, or so I heard, I expected to receive the flash on Friday or Saturday - but to my surprise, it was delivered this morning. Since I've left the house I've been carrying the instruction manual around with me, intending to read it; but I know I'm just going to wait until I get home, put the instructions to one side and experiment.

Jizzlefizzle

I'm glad I've got the flash now; there's plenty of time to learn how to use it before Jizzlefizzle - which was meant to have been this weekend, but has been put back to August 18th. I'm gutted I don't get to see some great bands sooner, but I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. *excited*

This weekend, Vikki and I are still going to take a trip to Frodsham regardless; there's a big hillside that I have always wanted to explore - so we'll be doing that. Apparently there's a fortress up there and everything! I'll take pictures.

Gamestyle Live Artwork

In terms of the wonderful world of the internet, Gamestyle has just recently started a podcast. It's pilot is up online and you can get it by subscribing using iTunes or using the generic RSS link.

Podcast Number 2

, , ,

So, a few posts back I told that I'd made a podcast. Well, I've continued the podcasting and made a second.

What Is A Podcast?
A podcast is rich media, such as audio or video, distributed via RSS. RSS feeds provide updates whenever there is new content. My podcast generally contains music and me telling you random information about this music; much like a mini radio show.

How Can I Get It?
Well, you subscribe for free to the podcast. This can be done through a web-based podcatcher (such as My Yahoo! or Odeo), or a desktop podcatcher (such as iTunes, Yahoo! Music Engine, or Juice). If you don't know what to pick, may I suggest you download Juice.

When you have one of those 'applications', choose from the options below:

Subscribe in podnova Subscribe in NewsGator Online addtomyyahoo4 Subscribe to My Odeo Channel

Add to iTunes/Yahoo Music Engine
