teeth, health, crown, dental care
...

Today I finished work early and went to the dentist because half my tooth fell off whilst I was eating a sandwich earlier this week.
Everyone tells me that I have good teeth, and I thought I did - especially since I eat LOADS of chocolate based products - and that kind of explains my neglect for the dentist. I apparently last visited my dentist in 2002/03... so much for the recommended regular 6 month check ups!
After hanging about in reception, reading a book about dinosaurs, I sat in the all-important-chair and the dentist (which is a different dentist to my last visit) looked about my mouth and poked around in there with various mirrors and dent-utensils to reveal that I'll need my broken tooth 'filled' or have a crown. Price-wise; a silver filling is at £55, a white one at £77 and a crown at £300+.
But that is not all. One of my back teeth is in a position that will most definately cause tooth decay in the future and the options are to ignore it until the pain comes, or be operated on. A process that sees my cheek be cut open, some bone tampered with and tooth extracted. Messy business.
The dentist recommends that I get it sorted. He said that it's a process they could do in the dental surgery - but only under local anesthetic. Ouch. But I'm best going to hospital where Britain's good old NHS will take care of it for free and knock me unconscious beforehand. Preferred method.

tour, castle hotel, tour details, sad shields
...

Around this time last year, I posted about Tea Time Tango!! - an event at Manchester's Castle Hotel featuring Vile Vile Creatures, Party Wierdo and Fake Tan. I went along and it was fun, they even had their own indoor waterfall.
This year, Tea Time Tango!! returns to mark the start of a UK tour for Sad Shields and Vile Vile Creatures and I urge anyone in the vicinity of Manchester to attend.
Details are sketchy, but it will most likely kick off at 4pm in the Castle Hotel. Entrance is free, but you can donate money to the bands or buy their merchendise on the day if you're so inclinded. RSVP on Upcoming or Last.fm
If you can't make it to Manchester, check out the MySpace of either Vile Vile Creatures or Sad Shields for all the latest UK tour info, door times and entry fees. Be sure to make it along to one of the dates for your fill of noise.

uk, advert, print, billboard
...
Don't worry - this isn't me telling the whole world to crawl under a rock and die... its just a short story.
Today on the way home from work we stopped at some traffic lights near Salford Quays (Manchester), and as I looked up, I noticed a the best billboard I've seen in a while. It isn't clever, it wasn't well designed, but the message was unique and memorable.
It had a Darlek pictured - you know; one of those robot things out of the TV Series Dr Who. It was advertising that, if I remember correctly, the television station UK Gold is showing re-runs of Dr Who... but the copy on the advert read something along the lines of:
Dr Who on UK Gold
Watch it or die!
Well, I have to admit - that's me sold. I'll choose life, please.
