You have decided you want to get a criminal justice degree so that you will be able to find the right job, in criminal justice, for you. You do not even have to go to a “brick building college” to get your criminal justice degree in most cases. You can get a criminal justice degree online, right from the comfort of your own home.

With a criminal justice degree, you can get a job working as a police officer, a corrections officer or a probation officer as well as many other employment opportunities in the field of law and law enforcement. While many jobs in law enforcement simply require a high school diploma, there are just as many that require a degree in criminal justice. A criminal justice degree will open so many more doors for you in the field of law enforcement.

Maybe you want to help fight terrorism or help protect our airports and government institutions. If so, then a homeland security degree is for you. With all of the criminal and terrorist threats that our country faces in these troubled times, the federal government needs your help and the best way to do that is to get at least a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and / or Homeland Security.

With a homeland security degree and / or a criminal justice degree, you can work for such agencies as the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Secret Service or the federal courts. It's just not knowledge and book learning that these agencies are looking for. They are also looking for someone who is physically fit as well.

A lot of these jobs require a lot of running, walking and standing so physical education is a big part of the homeland security training. However, if you decide to go this route with your career aspirations, the FBI, local police agencies and Secret Service have schools for you to attend to see if you can handle the rigors of the physical fitness aspect of the job. Once you graduate from an academy, the degree you’ve earned online will help you get a higher paying position within these agencies.

Getting a college degree is no easy task but getting a criminal justice degree is even more taxing. This is something you need to know before going ahead with the schooling. Besides the rigorous physical education aspect, you will have to take writing courses, mathematics courses, psychology courses as well as different courses that deal with different aspects of the law. A foreign language course or courses will be a big boon to you as well.

Consider also taking some kind of computer science classes as there are a lot of crimes and terrorist activities occurring across the World Wide Web that you could help put an end to. A criminal justice degree enhanced by computer forensics classes is the ideal training to get a front-line position to help detect and stop cyber crimes and terrorist activities. As technology improves everyday, so does the criminal mind.

Do you have what it takes to be a part of Homeland Security, FBI, Secret Service or even local police departments? The first step to such a patriotic career begins right here.
