what about flash?
Friday, 15. June 2007, 14:51:34
People are starting to wonder about the newest Flash Player plug-in not working in Opera. Just a quick update to this:
The new Flash plug-in is not implementing XEmbed, but the XEmbed Mozilla extension "spec" (well, it isn't really a spec) - it is actually a GTK plug-in trying to run its GTK main loop in the Opera (Xt) pluginwrapper: obviously this will not work
The new Flash plug-in is not backwards compatible - it is not working in current versions of Konqueror and Opera, but only in Firefox.
We are looking into it. Stay tuned

i don't understand, if they could satisfy all browsers by implementing standards, why to get stuck in only one!so, the solution is to creat a gtk pluginwrapper just for flash ? or what ? please enlighten us
another (may be off-topic) question (in case you reply), what is you personal opinion about Gnash and its future, i it is still in its childhood, but i am afraid they might follow adobe flash in every aspect, including implementing mozilla's specs rather than standards, but in case it will still support standards, do you think opera should adopt it ? beside/instead adobe flash ?
i know you are considering my comments as trolling long time ago, but what i wanted really is just to learn, please do not get angry by my comments

I didn't amend my post. The quote from the referenced comment from my post actually comes from this post on Emmy Huang's blog. You'll note the relevant quote is still there.

That is why I posted this note: the XEmbed Mozilla extension is not the XEmbed spec.
Well, maybe: there could be several approaches, and not all might be equally good. Any non-GTK browser (read: any browser but Firefox) is currently "having trouble".
As for Gnash, it is difficult to say something about a plugin that doesn't get much further than telling Opera
where obviously "Mozilla" must be synonym for "browser"…
Huh, why would you think that?

i am sorry, Melanson, i am really sorry, i didn't noticed that
but if you are reading my apology now, i want you to know that it is not only me who feel adobe neglect or doesn't respect him, actually many (if not most) opera linux and konqueror users, indeed may be all linux users (according to latest reader version, first shokwave for linux that may will never come out).
again, i want to say i am sorry, i am just an opera user/fan who is interrested in making browsing much better with all great plugins, which should include adobe flash
thanks Claudio for explanation
