We all need to drink. Some prefer water, some prefer tea, some prefer coffee, and some prefer alcohol. Water is our daily drink, but we need some other kinds of drinks to make our life more healthy and interesting.
Some people like cocktail, but here in Zhanjiang you can’t find a decent cup of cocktail. Still we could make some cocktail by ourselves using the material we can find here, to light up our life a little.
Zhanjiang is a semi-tropical city, there’re all kinds of juicy and exotic fruits in the market, and they are very cheap. All these could turn to be fabulous cocktail and martini. The alcohol needs in the drink might be found in Aijia supermarket. They have vodka, gin, whisky, wine and so on, but I can’t find champagne there, what a pity.
There’re different fruit for different season. Especially in summer, you will find so many kinds of interesting fruit in the market, even in the market in front of the school gate. To make the best use of the things we have here, I think there’re some drinks that we could make with the materials we see in the market.
Sweet melon, a little rounded white and green melon sales everywhere, is best with wine. This was a recipe I read on a book. Pick some mellow sweet melon, wash to clean then slice them into little pieces. Put them into a bowl and afflux some red wine or white wine to soak over the sweet melon, then put them in refrigerator for 24 hours or so. In the book it’s said that when it is done, this drink tasted like the lips of lass. I prefer white wine to red wine in this drink, the colour is better and the taste is fresher. The sweet melon here is very sweet and juicy, have a try, to have the taste of the lips of lass.
For girls, here is a traditional Chinese recipe. Now is autumn, papaya is everywhere in the market. Use papaya to mix with milk, it’s good for our skin, it is said that this drink will make the skin smooth and delicate, also, pear would be a good substitute to papaya. You can chop the papaya into pieces and boil with the milk, or you could stir the papaya then mix with the milk to make a special milk shake. It can be served either warm or cool, according to Chinese medicine theory; warm drink is better for your health.
