red, Flower, color flower, pink
The symbolic meaning of flowers depends on the flower, but finding any meaning of flowers helps. The meaning of the color of flowers lets you know which to get for your mother and which for your lover. Other sites explore the symbolic meaning of flowers, but Flower-Dictionary.com also explores the meaning of actual colors.
Red

Love, above all else, is the symbolic meaning of flowers ranging from crimson to scarlet and back. The deeper the red, the deeper the meaning. Dark reds show a charitable love while brighter reds reveal devoted passion. Whether this is love born of beauty, fire, or courage, red is the color to have.
There are two names that have been given to red roses. The first is Red Berlin, this nickname illustrates the type of passion one has. Red Berlin is a tomato red rose, this shouldn’t be all that surprising considering all that comes to mind when you think of Red Berlin. The second name given to red roses is Black Magic This nickname has been given to a dark burgundy rose.
Pink
Whereas red is the color of deep and abiding love, pink is red’s youthful counterpart. The meaning of pink flowers is one of innocent happiness. At once caring and also carefree, pink flowers allow you to show love more filial than romantic. Use pink when the meaning of your flowers needs a buoyant touch.
Just as the meaning of flowers is important the name of flowers is just as important. There are some great names for pink roses that range in all the different shades. We have the Anna, Ariana, Briazur, Cadillac, Cascaya, Charming Unique, Diplomat, Exotica, Femma, Vision, Clear Ocean, Sterling 95. It seams as though this list could go on and on. However it is important to know that the shade of the flower is important.
Orange
Warm but not mushy, orange mixes the passion of red with the unbridled happiness of yellow. Pride, energy, and confidence imbue the meaning of flowers ranging from vermillion to ginger. Whether spreading their zest through their own bouquet or else spicing up an assorted bunch, orange flowers are vibrant and vibrancy is fun.
Orange roses are fun, their subgroups come into great varieties there are the Star 2000, Sari, Terra Cotta, Briana, Corvette, and Estelle. The great thing about orange flowers are the amounts of different shades available. You can get coral, or more of a burnt orange, or even the apricot colors. It never seems to end with the amount of different color of orange roses there are.

Flower, Asters

There are over 600 species of asters, the most popular being the Monte Casino. Ancient societies believed that the odor of its leaves, when burnt, drove away serpents. While this might not be as applicable today, perhaps its connotation is still relevant: Giving asters means, "I am not sure whether you have been faithful to me". Be careful who you send asters to!
Meanings: charming, patience

Flower, romantic, Life
Primary Significance: If you're looking to leave butterflies in their tummies, choose tulips and watch them blush. Wildly popular throughout its history, tulips are a comfortable flower choice and one that expresses perfect love.
Meanings of TulipsThe is one of the world's most easily recognized and loved flowers. The meanings of tulips coupled with the immediately identifiable shape of their colorful blooms make them a comfortable flower choice. They are not too elegant, too romantic, too big, too small, or too bright; the tulip is always just right. They are like a favorite pair of jeans or your mom's fresh-baked cookies in that the meanings of tulips express genuine coziness and comfort in all of the right ways.
The tulip originated over ten decades ago in Persia and Turkey, where it played a significant role in the art and culture of the time. Most likely commenting on the Turkish tradition of wearing tulips in one’s turban, Europeans mistakenly gave tulips their name, which comes from the Persian word meaning turban. As Europeans began taking to tulips, the flower’s popularity spread quickly, particularly in the Netherlands where a phenomenon dubbed tulip mania set in at one point during the 17th century. Tulips became so highly-prized that prices were sent soaring and markets crashing. Tulips are now grown throughout the world, but people still identify cultivated varieties as "Dutch tulips."
The meaning of tulips is generally perfect love. Like many flowers, different colors of tulips also often carry their own significance. Red tulips are most strongly associated with true love, while purple symbolizes royalty. The meaning of yellow tulips has evolved somewhat, from once representing hopeless love to now being a common expression for cheerful thoughts and sunshine. White tulips are used to claim worthiness or to send a message of forgiveness. Variegated tulips, once among the most popular varieties due to their striking color patterns, represent beautiful eyes.
With all of the sentiments and meanings of tulips, it's not surprising that their popularity continues to endure. The wide range of colors and varieties available allows them to be used for many occasions. In addition to being a favorite for cut flower arrangements, tulips can also be given as a potted plant. The growing and caring for of tulip bulb gardens and plants is a rewarding pastime for many flower lovers. As one of the world’s most beloved flowers, a gift of tulips is a sure delight, enchanting in its beauty and simplicity.

Flower, romantic, Life
Primary Significance: Gifts of radiant warmth, sunflowers are the happiest of flowers, and their meanings include loyalty and longevity. They are unique in their ability to provide energy in the form of nourishment and vibrance, an attribute which mirrors the sun and the energy provided by its heat and light.
Meanings of SunflowersNo flower can lift spirits quite like sunflowers can. Bright and cheery, bold yet comfortable, the sunflower is a warm and caring gift. With brilliant yellow petals that surround the flower's center, sunflowers have an unmistakable sun-like appearance that has made them a passionate flower choice for many. Sunflowers come in a number of varieties, ranging from small to large and from daylight yellows to sunset reds.
Sunflowers originated in the Americas in 1000B.C., where for centuries they were cultivated as a valuable food source. The use of sunflower images as religious symbols has also been documented in some native societies. With the European exploration of the New World, the sunflower was brought to new areas, and the flower's popularity eventually spread as the rest of the world began to appreciate its beauty and sustenance. Artists throughout history have appreciated the sunflower’s unique splendor, and those of the Impressionist era were especially fixated on the flower. Today, sunflowers continue to provide a resource for commonly used seeds and oil, but they have also become recognized as a floral symbol of great significance.
Much of the meaning of sunflowers stems from its namesake, the sun itself. Wild sunflowers are often photographed with their tall stalks and bright petals stretched towards the sun. This unique behavior, known as phototropism, is a motif that has appeared in many ancient myths and is viewed as a symbol of loyalty and constancy. Their physical resemblance to the sun has also influenced their meanings. The sunflower’s petals have been likened to bright yellow rays of sunshine, which evoke feelings of warmth and happiness. In addition, the sunflower is often associated with adoration and longevity.
For a flower which reflects so many of the sun's positive characteristics, it is little surprise that people enjoy basking in the sunflower’s warming glow. With the sense of brightness and warmth that sunflowers naturally impart, they have become an ideal choice for sending sentiments of cheerfulness and sunny thoughts.
