Seems that negative campaigning reigns on even after the elections are over.
Everyone remembers... whoa... maybe everyone doesn't remember Anita Bryant. She was a singer, pageant queen, Florida OJ spokesperson, and gay basher. During her "save our children from gays" campaign, she was struck in the face with a pie by a gay dude. No one drags out her records and sits around reminiscing about her anymore. In fact, This article is the first time I have heard her mentioned in a coon's age.
Now the name is forever linked with Carrie Prejean.
She was a semi-public figure that happens to NOT believe in gay marriage. Some people don't. I accept that and it really doesn't bother me a whole lot because it would be hypocritical of me to think that others don't have the right to their own opinion.

It is not like she set out to destroy anyone, she was set up. Who cares what a beauty queen thinks about gay marriage? It is a beauty contest people! Kind of shallow by definition, right?
Anyone expecting some profound social manifesto to come rolling from her lips is over reacting a little bit.

Now they are trying to link her with church groups as they are to blame for the social stigma she is suffering. I think we do need the moral compass of these church groups in some cases. They have the right to live their lives on the "straight and narrow". They have the right to be an example to us. They are have the right to marry people of the opposite sex if they like. And by all means, they have the right to express this view point!

If you want to keep this thing alive, ask yourself why Perez Hilton was a judge. He obviously has no taste. So who decided it was a good idea to let this jerk pick the most beautiful woman in the USA? And further more, why would anyone be glad they were chosen by him. I can see him doodling little genitalia on all the contestants now.

And for the record: I think we should have same sex marriages. As a matter of fact, I love the idea of same sex marriage for idiots. Idiots should not propagate.

This virus was originally referred to as “swine flu” because laboratory testing showed that many of the genes in this new virus were very similar to influenza viruses that normally occur in pigs in North America. But further study has shown that this new virus is very different from what normally circulates in North American pigs. It has two genes from flu viruses that normally circulate in pigs in Europe and Asia and avian genes and human genes.
It is obvious that not everyone understands this.

CAIRO - Egypt began slaughtering the roughly 300,000 pigs in the country last month as a precaution against swine flu even though no cases have been reported here, infuriating farmers who resisted the move and demanded compensation.

The United Nations said the mass cull of up to 300,000 pigs was "a real mistake" because the new viral strain – a mix of swine, avian and human viruses – has not actually been found in pigs.

Still, the state began confiscating animals anyway.
Most in the Muslim world consider pigs unclean animals and do not eat pork because of religious restrictions. They are banned entirely in some Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Libya.

This could explain why the government of these Muslim countries are so quick to rid the world of these vile creatures. Surely anyone with enough education to be involved in running a country has access to information that proves what a bad decision this is for the poor farmers.

I am sure everyone has heard about the teen that auctioned off her virginity. The winner of the auction was an Italian business man who paid 8,800 pounds for unprotected sex at a luxury Venetian hotel.
Alina Percea, a Romanian teenage girl living in Germany, held the auction to pay for her schooling.
Now tax authorities in Germany are poised to claim 50 per cent of the money that she earned because they claim it was "tantamount to prostitution".

It is not a moral standpoint but a fiscal one,' an official said. 'Prostitution is not an illegal act in Germany, but not paying tax on earned money is.

It also emerged that, because Alina earned so much in such a short time, she may even be liable for a hefty VAT bill too.
VAT in Germany works out to 19 per cent, meaning the sale of her virginity could net her only 3,000 pounds.

Maybe prostitution should be made legal in the US. Think about that next time you are stuck in bumper to bumper traffic wondering why they are about to raise our gas tax another 30 cent a gallon.

We know how much money is being spent on pork barrel earmarks for political pet projects and no oversight.
One of the best things I have seen them spend money on is something to keep our young soldiers safer.

Wearable sniper detection to be deployed in Iraq
wearable sniper detection system is to be used by troops in both Iraq and Afghanistan in the US Army’s first large-scale deployment of its type. The Soldier-Wearable Acoustic Targeting System (SWATS) can pinpoint the location of snipers after a single gunshot, audibly informing soldiers of the point of origin.

Part of QinetiQ's Ears Gunshot Localization System family, the 6.4-ounce acoustic sensor takes just a fraction of a second to locate the source of sniper fire. It works in a 360-degree radius, isn't confused by ambient noise and can be used in a moving vehicle.

The success of the system has prompted the US Army’s Rapid Equipping Force to place a $9.9 million order for the soldier-wearable model. The deployment in Iraq and Afghanistan is expected to be complete soon.

Now this is some spending that I can get behind.
