Maggie's Meanderings

Who, What, Where, When, Why

Monday June 20: A day at the beach.

The summer soltice and what a perfect day. Clear blue skies, bright sunshine and 30 degrees C. Yes you Aussie sceptics, the English do have a summer and today it was 30 degrees. For Ethan and Fraser it was a holiday. No school today for the teachers had what is called here and 'Inset day' and in Australia a 'Pupil Free' day.

What to do, well why not the beach on such a glorious day. Bournemouth here we come.

It took quite awhile to pack everything needed for the day plus get four little boys ready and into the car. We managed to make the beach by 11am and at that relatively early hour had lots of room to ourselves. This changed as the day moved on and by mid afternoon the beach was crowded.

What fun are these little bach huts

So bright and colourful with the added bonus of not actually having to go on the sand. I do love the beach but I am not a big fan of sand especially when little boys are with you.

Despite the air temp being high the sea was freezing. A swim definitely not on the agenda for this little black duck. Ethan and Fraser went in regardless and had great fun chasing the waves. All the swimming, castle building and playing worked up an appetite so it was off to find fish and chips for lunch.

Feeling a tad tied after lunch it was time for a train ride along the beach.

Fraser thought this a splendid idea as did the twins.

As we chugged along the sea air got the better of Ashton who then had his turn cuddled in mum's arms.

A ride on the merry-go-round and then time to head home. Surprisingly only Ethan and William fell asleep in the car on the way home.

A great day, a swim, plenty of sea air, fish and chips for lunch, ice creams, no sunburn and no tears.

Hopefully there will be many more before summer is over.

Wednesday May 19: Our last day, how sad!!!Tuesday June 21: International One Day Cricket
