Sunday May 16 our first day in Bath.

We are staying at the delightful Queensberry Hotel whilst in Bath. I have a rather spacious and luxurious room all to myself.

The hotel is comprised of three old terrace houses refurbished as the one building so consequently, the rooms wander all over the place and down the hill. Yes Bath is hilly. There is very little flat in England. I think that London is the flatest of all the cities. Anyway, back to the hotel. My room is on the top floor and down the slope so to get to it from the lift I walk up and down several flights (short flights) of stairs. A tad bizarre in a way.

I have three very large windows in my room with the most incredible view from my loo window over buildings and the hills surrounding Bath. It is so warm here that I think I will be sleeping with at least one of my windows open tonight.

Today we did a walking tour of the city which frustrated me no end as I found it extremely hard to get any decent pics. Bath is a very conjested city with traffic everywhere. Cars, cars and more cars!!!! The architecture is stunning (I have added one photo of the Royal Crescent) but do you think I could get any decent pics ... dam traffic!!! I just gave up and wandered. We had a top local guide with us for the first two hours and after that we just wandered any which way. Today is Sunday yet the pace is frenetic and the city chockers with people and cars. Craziness!!!

Lots to see and do but no great hurry as we have another free afternoon tomorrow. I especially enjoyed the Fashion Museum in the Assembly Rooms where the current display was on Georgian, Regency and Victorian times. Fascinating stuff. Lunch time found us outside Jamie Oliver's restaurant Jamies Italian. Now we could not go past that as Jamie is one of my favourite chefs.

Nancy and I had the most delicious, long, enjoyable lunch .... yummm!!! The place was packed with young families and had a great ambience. What a way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Feeling rather good with ourselves and that all was right with the world we headed back to the Queensberry hotel for our late afternoon lecture 'Inspired By fashion' by Sue Bradley. Another delicious dinner tonight in the hotel restaurant completed the day.
