Sea creatures

, , ,

I took sometime to have a good photo such as this one after chasing this fish many times around the aquarium, a quick snap shot.

Can't get any better such as this one for a good shark photo. The shark swam too quick more than a fast focus and click of my camera.

Focusing is the problem with this photo, though the squids were behaving steadily and just waiting for some snapshots of them.

Took these photos when we visited a Sydney sea life sanctuary. It's a place visited mostly by families with children keen to educate the toots or just to capture a glimpse of how fishes live underwater.
It was a windy, cloudy day so getting into this sea life sanctuary was a good relief for us, but it was an enjoyable day though it wasn't our intention that day to be here.
Lovely as they are, taking photos of these creatures was fascinating, too!

More of these sea creatures in my photo gallery.

Leuralla Gardens

, , ,

Leuralla was built before World War I and retains the original furnishings and effects which capture the grand family mountains home of the 1920s. I can’t believe that such a structure still exists today. The thing is, photography is not allowed inside the house. It sets on 12 acres of glorious mountain gardens laid out at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. It has conifers, beeches, oaks, maples, backdrop the seasonal plantings, arbors, and walkways and these contribute to year round beauty.

The house was in the New England style of architecture. The design of the home was influenced by the world famous American architect of the day Frank Lloyd Wright. The home is Heritage listed and is displayed in its original state, including original paint finishes, furnishings, fixtures and fittings (note light switches and door furniture).

It also treasures the memories of a great Australian, Dr. H. V. Evatt, a jurist, politician and writer. He was President of the United Nations General Assembly in 1948–49 and helped draft the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948). He was Leader of the Australian Labor Party (and thus Leader of the Opposition) from 1951 to 1960.

Currently, the property is being used as the “NSW Toy and Railway Museum.” The toys are a collection of the world’s pre and post war toys, featuring tin plate trains, planes and automobiles, extensive model of railway layouts, lead soldiers and figures, dolls and teddy bears – childhood favorites including the only permanent collection of Barbie – 1959 to present.

Norwest Lake

, ,

This is the Norwest Lake located in Bulkham Hills, at the heart of the hills area in New South Wales. I did come here twice already and I would say that it’s worthwhile to visit this place.

During my last visit, some sport enthusiasts were enjoying their miniature remote controlled sailboats, most of them were retirees.

Sydney Ice skating arena

You will surely enjoy the place, because it is surrounded by walking trails and cycle-ways, a range of lakeside cafes and restaurants, and a host of facilities, including an ice skating rink, swimming school, banks, a medical centre, childcare and a shopping centre.
The lake has a water fountain too, and some ducks swimming, providing a relaxing view. Families with young children gather here to feed the ducks while enjoying their day.

Some of the photos were taken an hour before the sun sets off, giving a golden beauty to the place.
