Bushrange: RAAF callsign for helicopter gunships armed with mini-guns and rockers.
Canister:large, shotgun-type shell firing hundreds of short steel rods
Caribou: twin-engined dhort-haul transport aircraft.
Casevac: casualty evacuation (to hospital)
CDT: clearance diver team
Chieâu hoài: enemy soldiers who have surrendered.
Claymore (mine): hundreds of steel pellets.
Cmf: citizen military forces, forerunner of the army reserve

Fo: forward observers directs attillery on to targets.
Fsb: fire support base
Gps: global positioning system
Grid square: a map measuring 1000 metters by 1000 metters
He: high explosive
Huey: slang term for Iroquois helicopter
Kia: kill in action
lz: landing zone
m-16: 5.56mm american automatic and semi automatic rifle
m-60 7.62mm general purpose machine gun
madevac: madical evacuation, normally by RAAF C-130 hercules, out of Vietnam to Australia.
Mia: missing In Action
Mini gun: A 7.62mm calibre side-mounted, resolving multi-barrelled, electronically-fired machine gun capableof procuducing 2000 rounds per minute.
Mm: military medal, an Imperial award to Other Rank of bravery
NCO: non commisioned officer
NLF: national liberation Front
NVA: North Vietnamese Army
OC: officer commanding; a sub-unit commander, uaually ofmajor rank.
Possum: radio callsign for a Sioux Army helicopter
POW/PW: prisoner of War
RAAC: Royal Australian armounred Corps.
