Two species become one in the lab

Two butterfly species have been bred in the lab to make a third distinct species, the journal Nature reports.



Now this is excellent. A new direction in evolution, perhaps. Anyone can imagine, what if one could really play with such (simple) creatures like the butterflies.

I didn't know the mule is a sterile hybrid.
