  • Migrant film wins Locarno prize  13 August 2006

    A film about three female migrants from the former Yugoslavia has won the prestigious Golden Leopard award at the Locarno International Film Festival.
    DAS FRÄULEIN by Andrea Staka – Switzerland – 2006 – 81 min - [T]he film describes the complex situation of former Yugoslav citizens who have settled in Zurich, looking at both their everyday life in Switzerland and at the memory of a recent past, often tragic, often denied. In her film, Staka has produced a moving portrait of three generations of women, taking a searching look at people who live far from their homes, either because they were forced to leave them or because they no longer have a homeland.
