Am I lucky or what ? There are 5 models to collect in special Nestle cereal bags, and I found them all with only 5 purchases. (OK, I got one from someone who had a duplicate). The picture shows my latest ones, Doc - Hudson HornetTM and Sally - PorscheTM still in mint condition. McQueen, Mater and Luigi are somewhere in Serbia, looking for an alternate bridge over Danube, in case Pančevski bridge on road E70 enters repairs
So far, there's road E75 crossing Danube in Novi Sad, and just an unconfirmed rumour of a small bridge at Smederevo.
In other, less positive news, I recently read WHO's 2004 World report on road traffic injury prevention.
Long before cars were invented, road traffic injuries occurred involving carriages, carts, animals and people.
The numbers grew exponentially as cars, buses, trucks and other motor vehicles were introduced and became ever more common.
A cyclist in New York City was the first recorded case of injury involving a motor vehicle on 30 May 1896, and a London pedestrian was the first recorded motor vehicle death on 17 August of the same year.
The cumulative total of road traffic deaths had reached an estimated 25 million by 1997.
In 2002, an estimated 1.18 million people died from road traffic crashes: an average of 3242 deaths per day.
Road traffic injuries accounted for 2.1% of all global deaths, making them the eleventh leading cause of global deaths.
In addition to deaths, an estimated 20 million to 50 million people are injured in road crashes each year.
Did you eat all the cereal?
