Bald Eagle Singing

, ,

I was at the Columbus Zoo in Ohio when one eagle began singing to the other. I originally thought that I was watching a courtship ritual, but after trying to find out more information about these two eagles, the most recent information I could find said that both eagles are female. They're named Cheyenne and Barbara.

Previously the zoo did have an eagle breeding program in which the two parents were Barbara and George. Barbara gave birth to 18 eaglets which were raised by foster parents and released into the wild of Tennessee. However after the bald eagle species was removed from the endangered animal list, the zoo halted its breeding program.

Additional information that I uncovered said that both of the current eagles had been brought to the zoo because they were injured, and though they're doing fine at the zoo, they cannot fly well enough to survive in the wild.

If anyone would like to take another look at the bouncing polar bear who makes a cameo appearance in the above video, here's my very own video of the same bear taken from an observation deck located underwater.
