Windmills of My Mind

I must protect...

Esther the Queen

, , , , , , , , , , , ,

Is she the Queen of Opera or just a “Party Princess”? Both I believe. One thing is for sure… our darling Esther (aka Sugarwinx) has gone away. :worried: According to reports Esther died July 23rd, 2009 at the age of 28.

Ester Chong Sook Lee... she was a live one wasn't she!? We ‘hit it off' immediately in the “Introduce yourself” thread, way back in 2006. I made her laugh as much as she made me. At one time we were leaving an ‘unheard of’ 60 comments for each other! lol. She had so many beautiful & candid pictures online and I used every opportunity to say something witty in regards to them. Of course being who she is, we replied back and forth, playfully arguing with each other. So much so, people said we ‘argued’ like a married couple lol. That's when I made up the term “iWife” meaning “Internet-Wife”. She called me “iHubby”. It caught on so well that our online friends joined in on the fun! Soon Esther conceived an “idaughter” Carol. p: Now we have family all over the Internet!

I used to leave her messages… go to sleep & wake up eager to read all her replies. Honestly those were the best times I had online. Funny how this has affected me so much. I never even heard her voice or seen her in reality. Yet I’ve put a voice to her that fits so perfectly. She really showed her beautiful personality to all. Like Carol said, she was “Pure Sunshine”.

Friendships in the online world are sometime brittle but with her it was much stronger. People are busy in general, so some like Esther eventually went offline for a few months. Of course she would show up now & again to say ‘hi’… so you'd always expect to hear from her again… now to know that she has passed away is so devastating. For two months I was in the dark. I feel like I missed her funeral, nevertheless I'll pay my respects in this memorial.

I wrote a poem for a friend because her picture ‘said’ so much. Then I place the pictured in my blog & posted the poem underneath it. Apparently some of the girls I knew online loved it & demanded I write for them too! Esther of course joined in the mayhem not wanting to be ‘out-done’, Therefore I chose the best picture I could find of her & wrote her this. She said it was “lame”!… maybe she really hated it or maybe she just wanted to be ‘bad’ cause really  ... that's just her style. :D But I thought her reaction was funny. Hey… I liked it & it meant something to me. It means so much more now, for we may always be ‘oceans apart’ and no man-made ship can take me to her.

Esther was one of the few online friends I wanted to meet in person. I would have enjoyed listening to her talk while shopping in Bangkok. p: I could see myself laughing at her because she carries BB (her dog) in a baby stroller! The silliest of things she enjoyed speaking about. Thus she was so easy to talk with and it showed by the amount of good friends she had on Opera. When I think of Esther I see vibrancy and life itself. That's why her death is so shocking. It just doesn't seem to fit.

For all the pain we feel… it must be nothing compared with the pain Ginny her loving mother feels. From Esther’s pictures you can see they were very close… like best friends. I do extend my condolences to you Ginny. I have little to give… but I'll try to make the world remember her name.

My lovely ‘iwife’, where have you gone?
You were as witty as they come,
Always having something to say in reply,
The one who made us all laugh with some funny photo to split our sides.
The girl who made you love her with an endearing smile.
The collective memory of you is forever alive…
And it goes to work in KL, shops in Bangkok and drinks with friends in the evening sun.
Carrying your ‘baby’ in a stroller and the love of your friends from around the world.
Forever waiting for your return.
Forever in love with Ginny’s little girl.

Opera’s “Party Princess & Sleeping Beauty”

…and that you are… so sleep well my darling and may the God of heaven touch you on the shoulder and rouse you from your deep sleep, that we may be together in life again... my friend.

wickedlizard 25. September 2009, 08:22

Me too. We had such laughs online, she was amazing.

demiphonic 25. September 2009, 08:27

thanks gdare :frown:

yeah I know right Issy :D ...always made us laugh p: I'll find more funny moments with the both of us 'arguing' soon

I look at her photos & it just doesn't seem true :frown: ...how could this young girl be dead? It's like I just spoke to her.. even though it was many months ago :frown:

If her mom writes back I'll post more details about the circumstances of her death & full name etc. (I want to be sure you know?)

 Esther

wickedlizard 25. September 2009, 08:41

I read the newspaper about it. Don't. I was quite shakened by what I read. awww

It was a horrible tragedy.

nopanic 25. September 2009, 09:38

God bless her soul.

drlaunch 25. September 2009, 09:45

I remember her. And now she's gone. My Opera has actually lost an active member. awww

Furie 25. September 2009, 10:02

Randy, she linked me to that once talking about how sweet you are and made me promise not to tease you about it. I thought you'd like to know.

Olgita 25. September 2009, 10:48

.....Nice post....

awww awww awww

ellinidata 25. September 2009, 12:24

rip she will be greatly be missed

p.mansoor 25. September 2009, 13:06

So sad to hear the bad news Randy and thanks for letting me know. awww The saying goes that you loose a friend every 8 years or so but it has never been explained why.
We must therefore be very thankful to those, who have the courage, to inform her friends that she is no more, for it is better for those who loved and missed her, to know the reason why. May her God welcome her to his house and comfort those she had to leave behind.
Thank you Randy.

angel292005 25. September 2009, 13:22

That is beautiful, Randy. I love the bouquet and I think it fits for her perfectly in every way. Thanks for sharing part of your heart with us. Esther was very special to all of us that knew her here. I think it's best we focus on her life and the happy moments for now...

demiphonic 25. September 2009, 16:05

Thanks all for coming :frown:

You are right Doc.. even though she wasn't active for a while, she put new meaning in to the term "active member" No one had more 'life' than Sugar.

Hey Mik which link do you mean? the "Introduce yourself" Thread or the poem? ....lol she made you promise? haha... that's so sweet :D it's good to know she cared about me that much. makes me feel closer to her.

Thanks Sarah. I didn't want to post right away cause I made up my mind to do something that reflected her beauty & personality. I went through ALL her photos on Opera & chose the best ones. Some glamor shots, some character shots (like the one with the chopsticks).. one with BB cause she love em so much... and one with her dear mom cause they were so close. I had a few more I could have used but there was no space. I'm surprised I got so many in there to begin with. Well... I used Pink! :D I want to believe that she would have loved it

by the way my fav is the one in the middle & the one to the top where she winks  ...."Sugarwinx" indeed :D ...so cute.

Furie 25. September 2009, 16:30

The poem dude.

demiphonic 25. September 2009, 16:42

haha :D funny :D that was sweet of her :D

gezzz this is all so depressing.

Furie 25. September 2009, 16:47

So don't get depressed. You think Esty would've let you or her get down if it'd been someone else you knew who passed? Find some comics or cartoons to give you a laugh. Go out and have some fun. Whatever you want to do, but don't get yourself down over this.

gdare 25. September 2009, 17:34

Her mom left a comment on Carol's post.

demiphonic 25. September 2009, 18:32

yeah I know.. thanks furie. But as we only now heard the news.. the sadness is still fresh in mind. I'll mourn for her. But I won't let the sadness take me over.

oh really? thanks gdare.

Nerak 25. September 2009, 18:50

That was a truly lovely post. I was never fortunate enough to get to know Esther, but I remember seeing her comments on other peoples' blogs. She was always funny, charming, and sweet.

My heart goes out to her mother & the rest of her family...as well as those of you who were lucky enough to know Esther.

demiphonic 25. September 2009, 18:59

Thank you Karen. You would have loved her & been friends... I'm sure of it.

Nerak 25. September 2009, 19:00

 I'm pretty sure of it, myself.

Hind-sight is always so much more clear. :frown:

wickedlizard 25. September 2009, 20:13

demiphonic 25. September 2009, 20:20

I wonder what type of music she loved? So many things we didn't know about her. :frown: in time I hope her Mom gives us more details.

When I see Sugar's status as "Online" I got chills! ...I haven't seen that in a while! But it was her Mom Ginny using her account :frown: God bless them both.

intothedeep 25. September 2009, 21:57

You know my name

I am so sorry for your loss, Randy. I know your name too, from comments made on my blog p:

I didn't know Sugar personally, but crossed paths with her a few times and she seemed like she was full of life! God bless her soul for all the happiness she sprinkled along her way. God knows we all need that!!

demiphonic 26. September 2009, 02:03

yes we do need that  & I was happy to have met her... even if not in person.

Thanks for your comments.

fammcdon 26. September 2009, 02:09

Hadn't talked to her since I lost my computer net connection. That truly SUCKS! :frown:

demiphonic 26. September 2009, 02:19

yeah.. she was busy of late too... so I had not spoken to her in months. :frown: I wish she didn't take that apartment. Despite what the press reported, Ginny (her Mom) said it was faulty wiring that caused the fire. :frown:

ClassicAutumn 27. September 2009, 03:43

Very sweet of you Randy!

I hope they have Victoria's Secret up there. <3 Because I know that she likes them.

demiphonic 27. September 2009, 04:49

haha  that's true.. she did p: I remember she was part of that fashion group where she wrote a few posts too :D ...but no, I have no Victoria's Secret hidden among the flowers :D

The design seems complicated.. but it's simplicity is in the fact that it has one subject... Darling Esther.

There stands the bouquet I rest on her figurative grave.

Thanks for visiting Nita.

ClassicAutumn 27. September 2009, 05:16

No problem.

Veronica0406 27. September 2009, 09:05

Such a tragedy, I am so sorry. She will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs Randy.

iSON-IN-LAW.
THANK YOU FOR THE LOVELY POEM AND SWEET TRIBUTE FROM YOU AND THE EXTENDED iFAMILY.
EACH AND EVERY COMMENT AND KIND THOUGHT ARE SO PRECIOUS TO ME AT THIS TIME.
IT IS SO DIFFICULT FOR ME TO GO ON LIVING WITHOUT MY DARLING DAUGHTER. EVERYWHERE I TURN, THERE ARE SO MANY REMINDERS. EVERYWHERE I GO, THERE ARE SO MUCH MEMORIES. WHENEVER WE WERE SAD, WE JOKINGLY GO SHOPPING AND CALL IT 'RETAIL THERAPY' BUT NOT NOW. WHEN I WAS OUT IN THE MALLS, I BROKE DOWN AS THERE ARE SO MANY PLACES WE HAD BEEN TOGETHER AND SO MUCH FUN WE SHARED, TEASING EACH OTHER, MAKING JOKES ABOUT THINGS AND LITERALLY JUST TWO CAREFREE HAPPY LADIES.
WHEN I SORT THROUGH SOME OF THOSE STUFF THAT WERE SALVAGED FROM THE BURNT HOUSE, THE PAIN WAS SO PHYSICAL, I COULD NOT CONTINUE. BUT I HAVE TO, AS I NEED TO MOVE TO ANOTHER LOCATION AND GET SETTLED DOWN ASAP. PROBABLY THEN I WILL BE ABLE TO REALLY GRIEVE AND MOVE ON. RIGHT NOW, EACH HOUR IS FILLED WITH CHORES THAT JUST CANT BE PUT ASIDE.
IT DONT SEEM RIGHT TO WRITE SUCH MORBID AND DEPRESSING STUFF BUT I DO HOPE ALL OF YOU CAN CONTINUE TO GIVE ME YOUR SUPPORT AND LOVING WORDS.
ESTHER WOULD LIKE ALL OF US TO MOVE ON. MOVE ON AND LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST.

Dacotah 27. September 2009, 13:16

BIG HUGS to you Ginny.
You have my support and prayers.

p.mansoor 27. September 2009, 14:44

Hugs

demiphonic 27. September 2009, 16:13

Ginny  ...it was the least I could do. I loved her very much

Visit us anytime here or private message me if you want to talk personally. I'm here for you

"Retail Therapy"! ...sounds like something she would say p:

I can only imagine the pain you would feel walking through the mall, seeing places you use to go :frown: If I were there I'd give you a big hug. You are my iMom after all.

Just keep a healthy routine & do the things you have to do. When you settle down.. by all means grieve in whatever way you choose... but don't let the sadness consume you.

We must all try to go on with our lives now... but we will always remember "Ginny's little girl."

Love you Ginny.

demiphonic 27. September 2009, 16:14

Thanks Vero :frown:

barefoot_muse 27. September 2009, 20:19

This was a beautiful tribute to Esther. The picture flowers are lovely and so fitting, just like her. Even when I was at my most depressed a comment from Esther or visiting her page could always coax a smile or laugh from me, she was that full of joy and life. I wouldn't say we were, great friends, but I have always considered her a friend, or an ifriend  The world has lost much in her passing and my heart and thoughts and prayers are especially with Ginny.

angel292005 27. September 2009, 20:58

Thanks Ginny. You raised a wonderful girl.

demiphonic 27. September 2009, 22:36

Thanks Jess  ...you are right she just made you smile :D

demiphonic 28. September 2009, 04:47

I was going through some past post... turns out she doesn't like roses!!!!! hahah  then again maybe she was saying that just to get under my skin p: ...maybe Ginny could tell us? if she doesn't like roses.. should I change it to another flower???

Dacotah 28. September 2009, 04:49

Thank you Dennis Hugs
