, , ,

Denver Sports Medicine is a special services and health area in which it applies scientific and medical knowledge to recognize, prevent, manage and do rehab for injuries that are associated or caused by recreation, exercise or sports. Common sports injuries can include muscular cramps, concussions, ACL sprains, ankle sprains or shin splits. Muscular cramps are a very tight, sudden pain which is intense and is caused by a locked muscle in a spasm. Muscle cramps are muscles that have forcibly contracted and are involuntary as well as unable to relax. Concussions are caused by severe trauma to the head which is caused by when the brain moves within the skill violently, in such a way that the cells of the brain all get ‘fired’ at once, which causes something similar to a seizure. ACL sprains are another name for the anterior cruciate ligament sprain. This is a ligament which is involved in stabilization of the knee. ACL ruptures can occur when the feet are planted and the knee twists and changes directions. Shin splits are caused by when the tissues which attach the lower leg muscles to the shin bones pull away from the bone, or if they are inflamed from being overly utilized. Ankle sprains are when the ligaments which hold the bones of the ankle in place are overstretched. You will need Denver Sports Medicine if you are an athlete or a person who has embarked on a strenuous weight loss activity and has gotten a sports related injury. Denver Sports Medicine involves the ATC or the athletic trainer certified who is a specialist in the care involved in activity which is physical. Responsible for the prevention and care of injuries that are athletic in nature, the ATC is the ‘bridge’ between the parent, the coach and the physician.
