These first few are the beginnings yesterday of the big storm that's burying the Great Plains and Midwest last night and today ... a typical "Panhandle Hook", it comes ashore as rain (and plenty of it!) in southern California, moves eastward to around the panhandles of Texas and Oklahoma, then hooks northeastwards, picking up a BUNCH of moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, carrying it northwards to ... US! It comes down as snow. After the big snow is over, it turns bloody cold as the Low passes us and brings down the winds from the Arctic. Sounds bad, but we get used to it.
The next ones are from a few years back; it was a warm, wet snow with big ol' flakes, and was really pretty. I just opened the kitchen window ("HEY!" from the living room) and leaned out to take these. I managed to capture some of the falling flakes, which is unusual.

This was my old cat ... he made it longer than my last one, my white lion, who was more of a companion than this guy was, but this fellow was (is) very dear. He was damn near 20 years old (I've lost track), which is pretty good for a sedentary, overweight cat. Never had a moment's bad health, until the past week, when he stopped eating ... always a bad sign.
Anyway, not to get too maudlin, but his presence hasn't left the house yet ... not that it ever really does ... my white lion still visits now and again, as does our old doggie who passed on some 10 or 15 years ago ... "just checking" is the impression they leave when they visit. OK, so I'm a nutter. Put me down as a card-carrying member of The Lunatic Fringe.
Here are some pictures of him, taken over the years, comments and captions where it seems appropriate:
Well, maybe they'll post, now ... Frlmnk was having some trouble posting pics, and then, right away, I had trouble posting these ... I think Opera's screwing up.
Well, I think 5 minutes is long enough to wait ... Remember when Opera was a GOOD browser? And remember when the Community WORKED? Now the browser is painfully slow (when it works at all) and displays some perfectly ordinary websites in a very eccentric fashion ... I haven't had a really GOOD version since the 8s ... and the Community, despite being "maintained" often, won't do things that it used to do perfectly well before it was "improved".
At last! It works with another browser ...
Education is important.
"What in hell do YOU want?"
"Who, ME? I did NOT do it!"
I reckon that's enough ... Now I'll try again through the Opera browser; I've got a few snow pics that I promised Risis.
