der Wandersmann's occasional thoughts and pics

August 23, '08

Words (http://my.opera.com/Words/blog/) reminded me of these, so here they are:

He showed a rabbit family romping on the verge of his favourite pond, and the wee youngsters, besides being impossibly cute, reminded me of these I had taken in 2009, when I went out to my Son-In-Law's house for a get-together.
These little guys had been safely hidden away, totally invisible in a little hollow, by their mum, who had presumably gone off to do a bit of shopping at Farmer MacGregor's garden ... but that was before my SIL's Russian wife decided to mow the lawn. She went right over them with the roaring power mower, and removed their covering. Not one of them was touched, though, and she only noticed them as she came back on the next pass. They were still there when I arrived some time later, and they moved not a whisker when I photographed them. Only two show here, but there was at least one more, hidden behind them in a deeper part of the hollow. I could just see him, but couldn't get a shot. Anyway, here they are, being appropriately terrified of the man-mountain, but totally obedient to mum's instructions which were, obviously, "Stay here, and don't move 'til I come back!" in rabbitish, of course, I've taken the liberty of translating.

Well, there they were. We went on with our social life, and a couple of hours later, they were gone. I reckon mum came back, surveyed the situation, and moved them to a safer place ... a real burrow, I hope.
If only one's own children would be so obedient!
Cheers, all!
(I'll post just the photos in my album section, so you can see them full-size.)
