The apartment complex where I live is right next to a big lot of open land ... nothing on it but "weeds", as the locals say, and it's only cut once in a while ... perhaps twice or three times in a Summer. It's not really unattractive, and I see it all the time when I head out to the dustbins to dump rubbish. Well, this day, June 13, was exceptionally pleasant, and I thought, after dumping the trash, to examine the high "weeds", which turned out to be largely ryegrass. This is not uncommon; it's cheap, it grows quickly, it covers the ground, and if mowed at the right time, it re-seeds itself. (It would make a capital whiskey, but I'm not set up for that sort of thing, to say nothing of having the revenuers pounding at my door. [Stills are noticeably odorous.]) But it is a fine photographic subject, and accordingly, I went upstairs to fetch the Nikon. These are the results:

That last one brought home the fact that I need to get a right-angle attachment for my eyepiece ... I'm getting too old for this crawling about.
Cheers, folks!
