Opera Desktop Team

10.61 release candidate (RC1)

, , ,

Many of the Opera desktop team have been away enjoying a well deserved summer holiday. In the mean time the rest of us have been looking at issues affecting 10.60.

We still intend to work towards a post 10.6x release (currently called 10.70). However, whilst you await that here is an initial release candidate for 10.61. It is exactly the same as 10.60 plus the fixes below.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot of Opera. It is released for testing purposes, and there may be serious bugs and unfinished features.

DSK-298346 (Start Bar blanked out after opening background tab)

Nice, but not completely fixed, the start bar is no longer blanked out but some icons (especially link and unite for some reason) do lose their pictures and are shown as text buttons instead.
(opensuse 11.3 KDE 4.4)

Nice to see the improvements in menu integration BtW.
EDIT: though the icons on the "open with" list are now gone, which is a shame.

CORE-31379 (Printing from print preview results in either a freeze or corrupted page)

Please test this thoroughly and please test to see if this fix created any regressions.

Javascript/HTML5 bug: Whenever method window.applicationCache.update() is called, Opera throws this Error: (in Error Console)

Uncaught exception: [object DOMException]

Example: http://html5demos.com/offlineapp - click on "Update Cache" button

This makes AppCache unusable :/

Łukasz Janiklukjan Wednesday, July 28, 2010 3:43:52 PM

Hokkuthokkut Wednesday, July 28, 2010 3:53:31 PM

great job! but after 10.70 release unavailable to install 10.61 deb in ubuntu 10.04 (reason - lowest version of opera) and not fixed middle click bug in linux(

Doliprane'Doliprane Wednesday, July 28, 2010 3:53:55 PM

Hello there is a major regression : I cannot access my bank page account: go here (https://particuliers.societegenerale.fr/index.html ) and on top-right hand corner, enter any 8 numbers then you are asked for your secret code but now it is plain with no numbers showing up.

It works fine in IE or Chrome and Last Opera stable release.

Thank you.

Reported as bug #DSK-305417

That's normal on linux, just uninstall thwe old one and install the new one.
Or use debianview that doesn't give error, it just installs it

On this page:
http://apps.facebook.com/friendsforsale/chores
I can´t select pets, chores or friend... Where is the problem?
Can everyone confirm this problem?

Hokkuthokkut Wednesday, July 28, 2010 4:00:03 PM

I find one bug, please check in your opera. In menu-contacts i can't use any menus in file menu (file-open, save, import, export, etc) there is no effect to click on menus.

Hi there,

unfortunatly DSK-300828 is still not fixed. SSL Handshake fails on https://www.planetromeo.com (or www.gayromeo.com for that matter) with Fatal error 40 on multiple elements of the page, in most cases reloading the page shifts the problem to other frames displayed. This this not happen in Opera 10.00 or 10.10, it seems the bug appared somewhen around 10.50+. Confirmed on multiple systems: winxp sp3 and win7 x64.

SSL CORE Bug? Please confirm

External URLs aren't saved in the 'Closed tabs' and session (restart). Please, don't release a final version with this bug.

Jacek JędrzejewskieXtremo Wednesday, July 28, 2010 4:12:03 PM

Oh wow, you fixed widgets. Thanks for that, I hope that problem won't happen again.

Finally!!! I got bored!!!! p

Mathias Brodalamathbr Wednesday, July 28, 2010 4:19:51 PM

I’ll just leave a short comment stating that menus are unchanged and still drawn wrongly. Thus DSK-288406 is not fixed here.

pios Wednesday, July 28, 2010 4:23:32 PM

In Opera on some pages the fonts used screw up the formatting of the page while in FF they are OK. I notice in FF there is an option "Allow pages to display their own fonts, instead of my selections", how come Opera doesn't have this?

The workaround is to switch to fullscreen mode (F11) and then it should work. It's more of a Flash bug than Opera.

mypcia Wednesday, July 28, 2010 4:38:31 PM

I happened to notice this: when I closed a tab and one of the windows "deformed" itself, after I changed the tab the strange window disappeared.

Screen:
http://files.myopera.com/mypcia/files/untitled.PNG

Also wouldn't it be nicer if there was an option (preferably in Settings?) for Download tab not to open when downloading a file? We already have Panels (F4) so I don't really see the point in closing another tab every few minutes if you download a lot.

All the crashes that made Opera unusable for me are fixed, great!

Much faster and more stable now, I'm back to Opera.

Daniel HendrycksDanielHendrycks Wednesday, July 28, 2010 4:42:35 PM

Regression:
1. Download this HTML file and open it in Opera http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5633359/ECMA.html
2. Have another tab open, and make the tab that is not the file I supplied be the tab you are viewing
3. Close Opera (have the preference be "Continue from last time")
4. Restart
5. Click on the ECMA tab

Result: It will never show the alert JS box, unless you reload. Another bug then appears, when you reload, select "OK" in the alert box; then notice the background of the page does not repaint, it stays the color when the alert box was shown.

Please tell people what OS you are using when reporting something like this, it's pointless otherwise.

(its working fine here BtW, opensuse 11.3 KDE 4.4)

Is the cache bug affecting local pages fixed?

mypcia Wednesday, July 28, 2010 4:47:51 PM

Also I've noticed that scrollbar disappears on some pages.

I noticed a missing string in the Windows MSI installer, the installer opens showing a placeholder text at the top of the dialog.

Please stop posting which bugs are not fixed. The bugs are open in the internal bug tracker. And always repeating your pet bugs is not productive.
