There has been a lot of work done on Speed dial during the last couple of weeks. We are now getting very close to completion.

Does the crash-on-startup go away if you disable Voice before upgrading?

1. Amazon and Yahoo! searches keep reappearing on my personal bar. These were the only two of the built-in personal bar searches that I had kept during previous versions. Editing them in the Search preferences fixed this.
2. When using a customized dialog.ini, the speed dial configure dialog doesn't open at all. I had to manually merge in the new dialog into my dialog.ini.

I made a fresh install, and it worked ok. Then I just copied my profile and mail and it still works.
I don't have voice enabled.

[EDIT]
Speed dial definitly seems to be a lot smoother! Some pages are very friendly with speed dial. For example, try signing into your gamil account and then adding gmail.com to your speed dial list. You'll see that the thumbnail that is captured is the blank page with the "Loading" note at the top corner. This does not help at all when using speed dial cause it's not an appropriate thumbnail. I think that the tumbnail should be updated to the last shot of the loaded page. So if it updates itself then the thumbnail should as well. I'm sure there are plenty of users who will use gmail on a speed dial button and will not be pleased with the resulting thumbnail.
Also just wanted to say thanks for listening to us and bringing back the Start bar! Optional is better than none at all! Glad to see a direct response to some of our feedback! I can honestly say that this is my favorite build thus far!
The textbox field is still too wide on this page. Is anyone else seeing this? http://img68.imageshack.us/img68/1854/desktopteamtextareacz5.png ..anyone?

The only way I could get things working again, was deleting all the files in my voicelib directory under my profile...

nice to see a new 'monthly build'. im a little worried, because you guys spent almost a month on something that extension writter could do in few days. i dont know what youve spent rest o that time on, but i hope it is good. because.. well.. opera is lacking polish in more than one part, and still nothing is done to it
ive read chat with operas CEO, and was amused, that 'everything is worked on'. nice.. so next im to believe in miracles?
btw, this new build ceased working, upgrade or not, so no opera for me from now on. and ive never used voice, so guess again.
ive noticed fakeOnContextMenu function in browser.js - isnt it better to just add that damn event? and about browser.js - it does not update with 'check for updates' and if it does, i get some 503 error from xml.opera.whatever. guys, you REALY should invest some time and money in stability of your hardware. it sucks, 2 years after 'great' community [that still is inferior to even free forum software] and i still get server monkeys! it isnt funny, you know..
about the speed dial. 5 diggs on digg show you its cool factor. and it is nice that i can hide it completly, but well, opera crashes.. [both vista/2k3]
ps. we are delighted that development of devTools stopped, build 2520 for long time. it is nice to have an excuse why to not bother and what to say to customer if he wants opera support. 'cant be done, prducer does not provide devTools, and ignores questions from us' [yes, you do!]
enough rant.
to sum it up - opera crashes on both my rigs, completly and i dont have and never had voice installed/enabled

(now, all configuration by using context menu... no more drag/drop from Tab to SD)
Darken # 16. March 2007, 18:19
Thanx!

I would like to reiterate that the thumbnails would be more helpful if they were larger or there was an option to zoom in on them easily. One easy (it seems) way to accomplish this is to allow users to choose not to display the search bar at the top of the speed dial/blank tab. I would bet that lots of Opera users use the address bar to search (g "", etc.) making the google bar useless. Without, the tab would have an inch or so more screen space and would therefore be larger. I still vote for a zoom option but maybe that is difficult to implement.
Is this (eliminating the search bar on the SD tab) possible currently? Can it be considered for future builds?
Thanks and keep up the great work!

Also, the drag-and-drop function of the Speed Dial items is a bit tricky to work. If I drag the item to the center of the desired position, it doesn't move.
