9.2 Ready for the world!

, ,

Finally! 9.2 is launched today. Thank you all for valuable help in making this happen!

9.2 is not only an important update with bug fixes and the new Speed Dial functionality, it's also a milestone in spreading Opera to new users around the world: Opera 9.2 for Windows ships with 31 languages yes

The latest addition is Macedonian, so if you know the language, feel free to post a small celebration message in the comments section party Remember that we also have a number of forums where you can discuss Opera in your own language.

If you haven't done so already, please go to opera.com/download and get your brand new Opera.

Just to let everyone know, indicated versions 9.20 and 9.20b both contain the same install - from the 3rd of April (my birthday!). At least, that's the case for the classic installer...

Tracio Wednesday, April 11, 2007 12:08:17 PM

Given the recent libx11 issue it would be nice if 9.20 could hit the deb.opera.com repos faster than usual (1 or 2 days after the official release). It would definitely help to limit the damage made by the libx11 patch...

Also, there's no mention of the libx11 issue here: http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/linux/920/sincebeta.dml

Dexter Mdextersgenius Wednesday, April 11, 2007 12:23:47 PM

http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/windows/920/sincebeta.dml

Doesn't have the changelog since 8767.

Once again, does anyone know what's changed since 8767?

kiaM Wednesday, April 11, 2007 12:29:51 PM

Thank you! Oper 9.2 is a wonderful piece of art! smile

opera changelogs are very similar onto various operating systems, but sometimes it makes slight difference like this:

Added thumbnails on hover in UNIX panel.

i don't have this UNIX panel wink
nice changelog

Luchio Wednesday, April 11, 2007 12:49:22 PM

fixing the .kml link issue with Google Earth (.kml files are displayed as XML in the browser window instead of opening GE, see bug report); Firefox and even IE have no problems with it.

You could probably fix that by editing your preferences in Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Downloads. Un-check "hide extensions opened by Opera", then search for KML, then click edit to change the extension behavior.

Opera_9.20_Classic_Setup.exe
operadef6.ini

[Local CSS Files]

File 2=D:\Opera\styles\user\nostalgia.css

These files deleted from a distributive the pair of months back.

Not fixed bugs with Cyrillic (problem with open MHT-file, errors in translation, etc).

Tracio Wednesday, April 11, 2007 12:58:36 PM

@csant Yeah, I did another apt-get update after I posted and 9.20 was there.

Yet another example of the great work you guys made in order to address the libx11 issue (the fact that it happened in easter holidays and it was a nasty one makes it even more impressive).

Oh my gosh, that's my birthday too! And Liverpool FC won 3-0 on my Birthday too! What a good day that was. Birthday, Liverpool winning hugely in Champions League AND a new version of Opera.

Knut Remi "DrLaunch" Løvlidrlaunch Wednesday, April 11, 2007 1:25:50 PM

It's awesome! And it seems like it runs as smooth and fast as it should.

Rafał MiłeckiZajec Wednesday, April 11, 2007 1:52:54 PM

Nice. Now (and still) waiting for shipping Opera for Linux in 31 languages :-)

GeekK Wednesday, April 11, 2007 2:02:34 PM

Add integrated, synchronizable delicious-like bookmark feature and I'm even more statisfied! bigsmile

Chr. Bohr-Hallingcbh Wednesday, April 11, 2007 2:10:26 PM

@ Zajec. You need to download a lng file: http://www.opera.com/download/languagefiles/

Johan Borgborg Wednesday, April 11, 2007 2:25:35 PM

@cbh: But he really shouldn't have to. We're looking into if we can fix this in a way that doesn't give us incredible amounts of extra testing wink

Alexeif1avalanche Wednesday, April 11, 2007 2:26:35 PM

Zarko Hristovskizarkoh Wednesday, April 11, 2007 2:34:58 PM

Yippee for Opera in macedonian language. cheers

Now, if only InstallShield could support as many languages as Opera does (or plans to).

Chr. Bohr-Hallingcbh Wednesday, April 11, 2007 2:35:50 PM

@borg. Of course not. Wasn't my point... Just a help if he hadn't noticed the lng file download section. smile

AndrewAndrewNi Wednesday, April 11, 2007 2:38:08 PM

Love the tags lol

Raistlin Wednesday, April 11, 2007 2:42:06 PM

There is a small bug in O 9.20#8769.
I have in my Bookmarks 'my.opera.com/desktopteam' site, saved with 'opera beta' nickname. Now, when I've entered "opera beta" in address bar, it openes google page: http://www.google.pl/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=opera+beta&sourceid=opera&num=100&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8. In previous version it works fine.

If you would like to update my report with more information, please send an email to: bug-259956@you know what.

kriko Wednesday, April 11, 2007 2:56:52 PM

Cool! Perfect timing - today is my birthday smile
