9.2 Ready for the world!

, ,

Finally! 9.2 is launched today. Thank you all for valuable help in making this happen!

9.2 is not only an important update with bug fixes and the new Speed Dial functionality, it's also a milestone in spreading Opera to new users around the world: Opera 9.2 for Windows ships with 31 languages

The latest addition is Macedonian, so if you know the language, feel free to post a small celebration message in the comments section :hat: Remember that we also have a number of forums where you can discuss Opera in your own language.

If you haven't done so already, please go to opera.com/download and get your brand new Opera.

MossMan 11. April 2007, 11:59

Just to let everyone know, indicated versions 9.20 and 9.20b both contain the same install - from the 3rd of April (my birthday!). At least, that's the case for the classic installer...

Khaled-Khalil 11. April 2007, 11:59

BTW, www.opera.com still have opera 9.1 in the front
let it be opera 9.2 kestrel
or am i wrong

ux50 11. April 2007, 11:59

Stevie1 11. April 2007, 12:03

well what can i say, you guys just rule

Tracio 11. April 2007, 12:08

Given the recent libx11 issue it would be nice if 9.20 could hit the deb.opera.com repos faster than usual (1 or 2 days after the official release). It would definitely help to limit the damage made by the libx11 patch...

Also, there's no mention of the libx11 issue here: http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/linux/920/sincebeta.dml

_deXter_ 11. April 2007, 12:23

http://www.opera.com/docs/changelogs/windows/920/sincebeta.dml

Doesn't have the changelog since 8767.

Once again, does anyone know what's changed since 8767?

kiaM 11. April 2007, 12:29

Thank you! Oper 9.2 is a wonderful piece of art!

Jazmo 11. April 2007, 12:33

_deXter_, no - it's your job to find it out

csant 11. April 2007, 12:35

Tracio, deb.opera.com is already updated

XRock 11. April 2007, 12:36

Good job! Well done, thanks a lot!

CaseyJ 11. April 2007, 12:40

party on ..

waiting for 10.0 :hat:

HerwigF 11. April 2007, 12:44

Great as always! Thank you for the best browser ever (probably).

Well... but before you think you're ready forever, please think about:

#1 - fixing the .kml link issue with Google Earth (.kml files are displayed as XML in the browser window instead of opening GE, see bug report); Firefox and even IE have no problems with it.

#2 - adding an opera:config option for using HTTP1.1 over a proxy which is not capable of pipelining (HTTP 1.0 is used in this case but it is much slower without persistent connections). Firefox and IE allow this.

Cheers
Herwig

EDIT, regarding item #1: I entered the MIME type application/vnd.google-earth.kml+xml with kml as extension in Opera, configuring download/open to be displayed. For details see:
http://earth.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=25094
And, hurra!, it works, .kml files now show the open/download box instead of displaying xml garbage.

Khaled-Khalil 11. April 2007, 12:45

opera changelogs are very similar onto various operating systems, but sometimes it makes slight difference like this:

Added thumbnails on hover in UNIX panel.

i don't have this UNIX panel
nice changelog

You could probably fix that by editing your preferences in Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Downloads. Un-check "hide extensions opened by Opera", then search for KML, then click edit to change the extension behavior.

cranil7 11. April 2007, 12:52

IT WAS available on few sites FIVE hours ago. Before you people putting it here.

cranil7 11. April 2007, 12:55

What is the build number? 8771?

Lex1 11. April 2007, 12:56

Opera_9.20_Classic_Setup.exe
operadef6.ini

[Local CSS Files]
Name 1=Emulate text browser
Translated name 1=69483
File 1=D:\Opera\styles\user\textonly.css
Name 2=Nostalgia

File 2=D:\Opera\styles\user\nostalgia.css

These files deleted from a distributive the pair of months back.

Not fixed bugs with Cyrillic (problem with open MHT-file, errors in translation, etc).

Tracio 11. April 2007, 12:58

@csant Yeah, I did another apt-get update after I posted and 9.20 was there.

Yet another example of the great work you guys made in order to address the libx11 issue (the fact that it happened in easter holidays and it was a nasty one makes it even more impressive).

hobe 11. April 2007, 12:59

Wonderful tags!!! *ROFL*

Oh my gosh, that's my birthday too! And Liverpool FC won 3-0 on my Birthday too! What a good day that was. Birthday, Liverpool winning hugely in Champions League AND a new version of Opera.

drlaunch 11. April 2007, 13:25

It's awesome! And it seems like it runs as smooth and fast as it should.

Zajec 11. April 2007, 13:52

Nice. Now (and still) waiting for shipping Opera for Linux in 31 languages :-)

GeekK 11. April 2007, 14:02

Add integrated, synchronizable delicious-like bookmark feature and I'm even more statisfied! :D

cbh 11. April 2007, 14:10

@ Zajec. You need to download a lng file: http://www.opera.com/download/languagefiles/

borg 11. April 2007, 14:25

@cbh: But he really shouldn't have to. We're looking into if we can fix this in a way that doesn't give us incredible amounts of extra testing

f1avalanche 11. April 2007, 14:26

Hooray!!! Let's get surfing!

rxbbx 11. April 2007, 14:30

Yoohoo!!

zarkoh 11. April 2007, 14:34

Yippee for Opera in macedonian language.

Now, if only InstallShield could support as many languages as Opera does (or plans to).

cbh 11. April 2007, 14:35

@borg. Of course not. Wasn't my point... Just a help if he hadn't noticed the lng file download section.

AndrewNi 11. April 2007, 14:38

Love the tags

Raistlin 11. April 2007, 14:42

There is a small bug in O 9.20#8769.
I have in my Bookmarks 'my.opera.com/desktopteam' site, saved with 'opera beta' nickname. Now, when I've entered "opera beta" in address bar, it openes google page: http://www.google.pl/search?client=opera&rls=en&q=opera+beta&sourceid=opera&num=100&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8. In previous version it works fine.

If you would like to update my report with more information, please send an email to: bug-259956@you know what.
