Post-Alpha Opera 9.5 Release

, ,

Just when you thought the Alpha was exciting, here's the first post-alpha release!

Previously the term weekly has been used to describe our "weekly" releases. As most of you know they don't always appear at the end of every week, therfore we will be endeavouring to deliver a steady stream of builds as they are ready. So be prepared, the next release may come on a Tuesday or any other day of the week.

So what have we been doing?

We have been working hard on performance and fixing bugs, so go and grab the build and help us make Opera 9.5 even better! smile

Known Issues
  • Some Linux/UNIX packages are not available this time
  • Won't run correctly on Windows 95 or 98

Hmmm, installed it classical and went through the search.ini headache again.
Still have to put megaglobe black up and had to type things into (www.)ourcampaigns(.com). The
wand didn't do it; odd thing is seeing Adbrite login and see the login page and a sign it was
logged into, not the usually /mb/ index.
I prefer the classic install no matter what, nice and smooth, to the endless opening.
I frankly hate MSI and MSIE, less the MS components are needed the better.
I think sometimes an upgrade causes a confusion, as for Our Campaigns, I wonder if
screen name changes confuse the wand.

If next alpha will anyway full mistakes, so they preferably not even unpublished.

sad after reading several hundred posts relating to the Alphas I got impatient and installed 950.9523. 10 minutes later uninstalled.

I will not tolerate that SysTray icon.

And the killer ... when I load my own bookmark file, it crashes every single time. No error message or anything ... just disappears. The systray icon remains until I move my mouse over it and then it nicks off as well.

Although when I installed and ran Alpha 2 it actually loads my bookmarks but calls it opera6.adr. This doesn't suit my purposes, never has and never will, so when I right-click in my BookMarks Panel, choose FILE > OPEN and browse to my own bookmark file/s (copied to my profile folder) and open one, Opera crashes. Opening my ****.adr files this way in the past has always worked and makes it my default bookmark file.

I assume this is a bug ... didn't see any reference to in the posts that I did read, but there's a few hundred I didn't read so apologies if it has been mentioned.

Tks for confirmation.

@trollop
You probably should do a bug report with an inspector crash log. Search for inspector if you don't know how.

it would be nice if there was fully Integrated crash logging tool in opera (at least in these alpha/daily builds) which would collect all necessary data & user would just to add his/hers own comments & this would be sent to opera's own servers. how nice that would be?

@cavalez: OK, only to have a look on a file list. In Internet Explorer (5, 6, 7) and even in Firefox(1.5, 2, 3) with Add-on Cache Viewer a bit complicated i can operate (copy, drag drop) this files.
Often this websites have download option but its so much easier and in some internet boards you get the instruction to do so. Why not??
There must be a way for "experienced user" to handle this as easy as been in the opera versions 3 to 9.23 :-)

View bar: Now i have maked the wonderful experience with the "old" 9.23 view bar for the first time to have a great link list in one tool bar :-) View bar, i meen "find in page" is back in 9.50a, but i will be very happy to get this "old and for me new" "feature" also in the new 9.5 even by widget add-on. Is there any chance to get this feature with a widget?? Thx

I've upgraded from the previous beta to this one and I get the startup error : unable to start module 41.

Uninstalled, then reinstalled, but still the same.

netean, this is probably not the right place to post since this build is outdated by now. Please upgrade to beta 1, and use the beta forum to post about problems you discover.
