New build

, ,

Hi folks! I'm Joachim, the brand spankin' new Mac Test Manager.

We've got a new snapshot for you today, happy testing!

WARNING: These are development snapshots: they contain the latest changes, but they also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, they may not work at all.

Known issues
  • If you used Opera link in a previous build and install this one on top of that, you need to log in again to make it work.
  • The link dialog might say "logged in as minch" - well, no worries, you are not: it's just a hardcoded string (known internally as "minch is watching you!")
  • Plugins on UNIX are still in a shaky state
  • Alot of widgets seems to crash opera

Bugs fixed
  • Fixed certificate installation on skandiabanken.no (for real this time)
  • Fixed issue where it was not possible to exit small screen rendering if the page had a handheld stylesheet
  • Several fixes to inline find
  • Big images are again displayed properly
  • Fixed CRAM-MD5 mail authentication
  • Fix disappearing panels and personal bar items if one client did not sync them
  • Implemented merging of bookmark files if you open a new one - a dialog will ask if they should be merged

It seems to me that there are a lot of memory leaks. 9.24 use 90-120Mb of memory, but 9.5 at the same browsing use 300-400Mb. Can anybody confirm this fact? I have 2Gb of ram, but after day of using 9.5, it use ~700-800Mb. It's terrible for me!

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2058/2052926531_8496903a4b_o.jpg - Mac OS X 10.5.1 with previous build. Some of cyrillic fonts are not displayed correctly. Firefox and Safari renders them fine. Same page with Opera under Linux looks ok too: http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/8971/92798325lr6.png

By Rikz, # 23. November 2007, 17:41:47

@consalt- it's probably the full history search, turn it off by setting opera:config#index to 0 then check the mem usage again after some time.

DPI settings under Linux are ignored. As it were described in bug #285046.

Widgets are crashing Opera :frown: (I use Linux)

By EMeczKa, # 23. November 2007, 17:59:37

When "Bookmarks" menu from the panel is opened it overlaps the main window and the whole screen with the OS's panels. It is ugly and unconvenient. Better add a scrolling feature for so long lists and make it suit Opera's window size.

Clean installation of the new build on PC (windows XP), keeps on crashing after less than one minute. Need to install the former build again :frown:

Is the GIF and the Animated pictures bug fixed?

By Southern Cross, # 23. November 2007, 18:15:09

Too bad rightclick and Save Link to Download folder is still totally broken :frown: (I'm on Mac, haven't tried it in Win version)

All you get is "default" named entry in transfer list (with weird URL http://urlinfo/) but no file and no download starts. I reported this via your bug form when the first alpha was released.

Please fix this, because save to download folder is an important functionality for me. Oh well, back to 9.24 I guess.

Sharing feeds between 64bit and 32bit Opera is still corrupted, even more so, it seems to me (which probably is a good thing, meaning that there's work done on that)...the main reason why I can't use 64bit builds, although I'd love to...:frown:

But good work otherwise, especially thanks for fixing the big images issue, it was getting on my nerves

Item titles in Feeds still badly corrupted - initially, all Latin non-English (i.e. accented) characters load fine, but once a particular feed entry is focus (clicked on), the accented characters are replaced by rubbish (bug #298992). In many cases, this renders the feed reader practically unusable.
Also, the "filename" field in HTTP Content-Dispostion header is still being ignored, which is a major annoyance when saving script-generated files, for instance.

What is the status of bug 295854, introduced in windows build 9624?

All URL with cyrillic symbols incorrectly saved in history.

It's very important for normal usage of russian wikipedia.

Aghhh! Thats why my test pages weren't working!

I wasted time on that! (Then I presumed i was just a crappy coder )

It's bad to save with the ByOM though. So almost all offline HTML are not working? This is a serious bug!

Well, same bugs, now again.. D'oh!
1. Page size-bar on the progress bar is kind of damaged.
2. GIF animations are having bad times working (hasen't been fixed in last 5 builds)

Congrats Joachim on being the new Mac test manager. Hopes you will help the mac version of opera to be the best browser on the Macintosh platform.
:coffee: Thanks developers for a new weekly build. Too bad irc still doesn't work on the mac build.

The nth-of-type selector passes the CSS3 selectors test but I am unable to get any of the odd rows to be selected only. Is this an actively known issue?
