Opera Desktop Team

Link should be working again now

Due to an internal misunderstanding, the new authentication code used for Opera Link was only active on our test authentication server and not on our live server. This caused problems for people that logged out and then in again with Link.
This should be resolved now.
Happy testing!

thanks

lamarca 4. February 2008, 14:19

i added a new entry via opera link while sync was not working. however the new link doesnt appear on my bookmars after the synchronization.

Merijn 4. February 2008, 14:41

Thanks, now it works properly.

However, I have a bookmark folder named 'Games!' which is not recreated on a blank Opera alpha install. I created this folder using one of the earlier Opera alpha builds - all other folders in my bookmark were created with a stable Opera version.

Is the exclamation mark a problem?

Andres 4. February 2008, 15:03

yes !! Solved !! Tks a lot

toyo 4. February 2008, 15:22

for me it synchronizes only once when I stop it then re-introduce my passw/user :frown: and when I try to connect to http://link.opera.com/ it says:

"401 Authorization Required

You do not have the required credentials to view this page.

Possible causes may be that you are not logged in, or you are trying to access a restricted area."

Madis 4. February 2008, 15:43

Works now

Alexandr 4. February 2008, 16:44

I experience strange irc-client bug in last build. Sometimes all actions (/me) from other chatters stop displaying.

Vlad 4. February 2008, 16:56

It doesn't work for me at all, I always get Synchronization failed. Could my Link get emptied ? I made a major change in my bookmarks and that's probably why it won't sync.

berend ytsma 4. February 2008, 17:19

@TuPLaD:there's a comunication error you shoudl check your "error console"

ckojam 4. February 2008, 17:39

It still shows an error...

coolmyll 4. February 2008, 17:42

Error: The bookmark server did not respond. Please try again later.

oscardt 4. February 2008, 17:50

According to file --> synchronize opera --> i'm "logged in as oscardt".
But the status bar says: "oscardt - synchronization failed" for over half an hour now. restarting opera doesnt help.

SiMcarD 4. February 2008, 17:53

"Synchronization failed" also here....

berend ytsma 4. February 2008, 17:53

http://link.opera.com/ doesn't work also so it's just the server that having a break.

Kurt 4. February 2008, 18:31

Great speedy fix - if only everything was so simple!

SiMcarD 4. February 2008, 20:26

now it works for me!

ra1d 4. February 2008, 20:55

Hi, all. I have a small problem with all this opera login staff. Once I downloaded one of betas or alphas build where synchronization of bookmarks was presented - I decided to try it. Before that I should have login to synchronize, so i made it using menu of opera browser. I entered raid and password and when I syncronized with server and back at home I synchronized with opera home. Seems like all worked, and I can login to my.opera.com, but only My Page/Profile page is accessible, all others says "Access Denied. You do not have access rights for this page.". My profile tells me that I'm "Member since: Sep 2006" but I registered 08 nov 2007 and what I have "Forum posts: 1" but I never posted yet. So does anyone know what's wrong with it? I made My Opera request [Ticket#730518] but still no answer since 25.10.2007 :frown: Maybe it's a wrong place to ask?

----
One more feature comes from link.opera.com, I just tryed to enter raid and corresponding password, it said to me "401 Authorization Required
You do not have the required credentials to view this page." when i cliked "Log in" on the top and see: "LOG IN Hi. You are already logged in.."

Hope someone can understand my English, I'm Ukrainian.

toyo 4. February 2008, 21:55

I have the exact problem as RaID, very disturbing, as I'm recognized by the forums as another person:

Name:
RR PASCUAL
Occupation:
Not specified
Member since:
Aug 2004
E-mail:
www.double_rac [at] yahoo.com

This is NOT my email. I have registered in 2006-2007. I can post and stuff, but I'm not allowed on some pages of my profile. I wrote some time ago to the Opera staff with no results. I'm very aware that this is 100% offtopic, I apologize for that, but I did post my comment believing that someone will help and fix my account. Thank you

Leonan Ferreira de Sena 4. February 2008, 22:31

finally decided this flat problem.:hat:

Thanks.

Vlad 5. February 2008, 09:37

@ytsmabeer:
Could not validate internal storageformat

Mladen Pejaković 5. February 2008, 10:05

Is there a way to delete all bookmarks at once, when I log into my Opera Link?

berend ytsma 5. February 2008, 10:17

@TuPLaD:What's the problem, is sync not working?

@pejakm:This came by a few times in the forums.
AFAI understand "It's not yet possible"
You can just delete you're bookmarks in opera and then sync(backup first if you don't wanne loose you're bookmarks)

Mladen Pejaković 5. February 2008, 10:19

Thanks, ytsmabeer!

YES! WTG!! Yay team! :hat:

Vlad 5. February 2008, 14:15

Synchronization died completly. it says it is disabled and greyed out in the lower toolbar and when I try to start it (which it worked until 1 day ago) it says "Authentication error occured". It used to connect. waiting for the Friday

berend ytsma 7. February 2008, 09:54

This is probably the server again, who's in need of some toutch of love
1 advice, when sync is working don't stop it, just leave it connected than you don't have these problems

Tommy A. Olsen 7. February 2008, 10:11

I'm gettin an error on this now (using Opera 9.5).
I want to delete my account to start all over again...but I can't do that.. :frown:

Vytautas 16. June 2008, 15:58

"Synchronization failed" and http://link.opera.com/ doesn't work also :frown:

rams78 17. June 2008, 11:32

So, what should be Server Address for Opera Account?
a) https://auth.opera.com/xml
b) http://link.opera.com/
c) something else?
Still always getting "Synchronization failed" with 9.5.

Derick D'souza 21. June 2008, 12:41

Get "Synchronization failed" with Opera 9.5 at home (XP), worked yesterday with same config on 2 PCs (XP & Vista) in the office. Is this a server issue?

boogiejay 4. July 2008, 08:16

Hi everybody! I'd like to use Opera Link to synch bookmarks between my home and work browser, but unfortunately I'm behind a corporation firewall (websense/blue coat). Is there a way for me to make Opera Link work? Can I change the port Opera Link uses to send data?

Tom Nielsen 26. July 2008, 13:00

Awhie ago I registered for Opera Link and it worked. Now, whenever I try to login to Opera Link I get the following:

Proxy Error

The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request GET /Talla/account/link/.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Apache Server at my.opera.com Port 80

Who can help fix this problem?

blessed 29. November 2008, 03:23

Same for me, i mean "Synchronization failed". Try to do this first time, if that's matters.

Mr Doug Jacobs 19. May 2009, 03:26

It constantly fails for me :-( cant understand whats happening, ive put in my correct password and there is no problem logging in on Operas webpages with the same password and account.. And same account works on other PCs.

4rcane 3. June 2009, 16:57

bookmark is failing for me as well. Maybe its because we have too many bookmarks? I'm testing that theory now
