Thanks Opera ASA.
Now I can wait for Opera 9.5 even longer...

Rijk Wednesday, February 20, 2008 3:23:49 PM

For the curious, the build numbers of the final release are:
Win: 8835
Mac: 3727
NIX: 698

VladTuPLaD Wednesday, February 20, 2008 3:31:38 PM

So I'm on:
Version: 9.50 Beta 2
Build: 1800
If I install this one, will it affect my mail and stuff?

KryptoKnightAleksOD Wednesday, February 20, 2008 3:54:47 PM

Thank you for the speedy fix!cheers

Øyvind ØstlundNoteMe Wednesday, February 20, 2008 3:56:07 PM

@TuPLaD

Do not install a 9.2x version over your 9.5 builds. It will affect more stuff than you can poke a stick at, mail included smile

@NoteMe

Oh, yeah! I was a bit confused with the numbers, now I get it, thanks smile

thanks, deviantart.com and facebook.com are opening faster.

In case you are new, or have forgotten ***again!!!***, or lost track of it because you refuse to use the proper forum..

If it is a FINAL, it can go over the top of another FINAL(NOT a beta) - But check for issues, like mail changing!!

If it is a weekly/alpha/beta, it can go over the top of another weekly/alpha/beta(NOT a final!) - But check for issues, like mail changing!!

And note 'mileage may vary' .. if someone has got a working install, from ignoring the above, it may not work for you.. just dont start complaining later that it does not work properly... you will know why....

firstnight Wednesday, February 20, 2008 4:52:49 PM

Rijk, thanks for the build numbers. smile

KryptoKnightAleksOD Wednesday, February 20, 2008 5:11:30 PM

Thanks, lamarca, just curious smile

James Cassellelitegeek Wednesday, February 20, 2008 5:37:40 PM

I'm happy to see the new release!

I can't wait for 9.5

KurtChrisDavey Wednesday, February 20, 2008 5:50:36 PM

Ok - up and running!
Just onre thing...and repeating ra_mon´s question "Can you confirm that Kestrel is not affected with theses 3 security issues ?"

nemonemoxx Wednesday, February 20, 2008 6:02:25 PM

Thank you. 9.26 is much more stable on Mac. Browser is now finaly stable. I noticed no more crashes!

Steve DarkenDarken Wednesday, February 20, 2008 6:09:26 PM

@ra-mon (Pierre): Read this >

In this case I will strongly recommend that users of Opera 9.0 to 9.25, inclusive, upgrades to the upcoming Opera 9.26 (Update: It is now available), due to be released later this week (but an RC is available). The next 9.50 weekly will also contain a fix for the problem. In particular, you should upgrade if your installation crashes when it tries to connect to an SSL/TLS/HTTPS site.

Pierrera-mon Wednesday, February 20, 2008 6:25:43 PM

Merci Darken smile
But it seems only related to OCSP bug, not security issues...

Steve DarkenDarken Wednesday, February 20, 2008 6:34:30 PM

Hummm, you are right.

Hummm, okay > @ Opera Team: Kestrel is not affected with theses security issues? lol

Zarko Hristovskizarkoh Wednesday, February 20, 2008 6:36:37 PM

1. can't get any flash content rendered on Ubuntu 7.10, just gray rectangles instead.
2. the main menu bar doesn't show its items. need to hover with the mouse pointer over it so that the labels appear.

these two issues didn't exist on 9.5 builds, but i'm on hold with those on Ubu.

Maybe trojan plugins and threat level plugins need warnings or complete blocks, more alternate programs like alternate tiff, qt, and rm.

Words Wednesday, February 20, 2008 11:53:05 PM

My mail/feeds are not displaying on build 8835. The tab opens when I click on a feed or mail folder in the panel but nothing loads. sad

Just reinstalled 8833, but the same problem confused

Update: problem solved. I recreated my Opera6.ini file

Radoslav Schudichssuuddoo Thursday, February 21, 2008 7:49:38 AM

1. why is the version numbering different? from 9.50 to 9.26?
2. I upgraded to the "stable" 9.26 but my email disappeared, why?
3. I had to switch to my old 9.5.

please provide answers

use LinuX-Ubuntu

MossMan Thursday, February 21, 2008 8:13:11 AM

@ssuuddoo

1. because one is a beta in development and one is a final

2. because they are different versions of the program

3. because you shouldn't install 9.2 final over 9.5 betas!

berend ytsmaytsmabeer Thursday, February 21, 2008 8:15:32 AM

@ssuuddoo:9.5 is the new not released kestrel build of Opera while stable 9.26 is just one step up from 9.25.
With kestrel(9.5) there has been changes in the mail part so you can't go back to the old 9.26

Radoslav Schudichssuuddoo Thursday, February 21, 2008 8:48:26 AM

@ MossMan
@ ytsmabeer

thank you both.

now I see it and know all the answers I needed.

...anyway, I have changed to 9.26 - because my 9.50 used to crush a little bigsmile

just had to export all email things, delete the mail folder in .opera and import my email back after installing 9.26

thnx

>>opera is the browser with the:
FASTEST development
FASTEST interface (I use a looot of shortcuts and mouse gestures and do not need the buttons bigsmile )
FASTEST customization - change the look in a second
FASTEST smilecomming on your face when U luve it!
FASTEST EMAIL client working together with the browser
FASTEST browsing the internet (this I personally cannot statistically say, because do not know the objective answer, but use the test results of others)

thnx again

Konradpap911 Thursday, February 21, 2008 4:57:45 PM

Thank You for 9.26 smile
Now I can download directly from simviation.com. At least bigsmile

I have freaky and iritating bug.
When I writing something, and when I want to wrote polish letters one by one Opera opens me a new tag, eg. when I write: "s", "alt+l", "alt+o" Opera opens me a black tab (letters must be written very fast so it not happens everytime).
Same thing with other letters. But some opens Notes Tab, some other tabs/windows I don't even couldn't name p
Problem probably only on Deviantart.com while writing a comment p
Here on Opera blog commenting I can't reproduce this bug smile

chuuey Friday, February 22, 2008 11:31:58 AM

thanks for the update guys, keep it up!

emagius Friday, February 22, 2008 2:53:08 PM

I'm having NTLM issues with 9.26 ("portable" version) -- not present on either 9.24 or 9.25 -- where I am constantly prompted for intranet credentials. I've tried various proxy options in 9.26 but without success.

On earlier versions, I don't get any prompt at all and browsing works fine.

André Torgapikachu97 Saturday, February 23, 2008 2:52:57 PM

:(Opera 9.26 still has the famous bug of multi-user installations, i.e., when you install Opera on a computer that has various user accounts, only the user who installed it will have general access to it, since if you try on another user, you won't see any shortcuts to Opera in the desktop, in the Start Menu (in the case of Windows)... being the solution to open the file "opera.exe" in the folder in which Opera is installed. In the account of the user who installed Opera, you have all these shortcuts. This problem is really annoying, so I would like to ask to the Opera Desktop Team to fix this bug once and for all in Opera 9.50 or in a possible version 9.27:(

berend ytsmaytsmabeer Saturday, February 23, 2008 3:54:18 PM

@pikachu97:Opera always worked for me on muliple instalations.
Try the Msi install

Bontzybontzy Saturday, February 23, 2008 6:54:13 PM

thanks, lamarca

Hi, in Widgets when I put the next markup The widget turns white and don't show the images. I think the widget is running in backgroud, but don't show anything. I've read the release notes about the 9.50b, but this topic doesn't appears. Regards, Pedro.

epilos Wednesday, February 27, 2008 11:43:05 AM

this update did NOT fix the major issue where opera 'almost' crashes when the webpages we load are a bit heavy or too many (25 light webpages are too many???)

it still breaks the webpages (the vertical scroll menu appears, while the normal webpage is not that wide and generaly it disperse all the webpage elements

and you know what? cannot even take a snapshot of it! because the PRNT screen button or any other similar program cannot load anything in memory! (bitmap could not acquired is the error msg)

also, mouse and keyboard clicks don't work untill a webpages (usualy a bit heavy) is fully loaded

JoeGoJoeGo Wednesday, February 27, 2008 11:56:48 AM

@epilos: uhm, this is a security update. Use 9.5 if you want page rendering fixes.

epilos Wednesday, February 27, 2008 12:04:08 PM

mmmm but 9.5 is beta....

JoeGoJoeGo Wednesday, February 27, 2008 3:20:52 PM

Mmmm, but 9.5 is the version where all the rendering fixes were added. 9.26 was never supposed to fix lots of rendering issues so it's hardly useful to complain about it.

zooll Thursday, March 6, 2008 10:28:15 PM

Here's my major bugs with Opera 9.2x on Vista Ultimate.

When I close Opera, it remains in memory and maxes out my cpu.
I have to go to my task manager to kill the process.

If I use the 'save as...' dialog to save an image to a folder that has many files, say over 2000. If I hit the save button too fast, Opera will crash.
