Are there any further plans for improving Javascript performance? When Kestrel was first released, Opera was fastest, but since then Webkit and Gecko have improved their engines, unfortunately putting Opera in third place. :frown:

Olihen 18. March 2008, 16:53

progress bar set as pop-up at bottom doesn't work

berend ytsma 18. March 2008, 16:54

@Fyrd:Kestrel hasn't been released yet, You probably mean the Beta version :smile:

tynopex 18. March 2008, 16:56

@Junyor:
Hrm.. interesting. This is what I see http://my.opera.com/tynopex/albums/showpic.dml?album=492807&picture=6803391 after a fresh install of this build (9841) on WinXP SP2.

Bill P 18. March 2008, 16:56

Linux plugins (64bit version) other than flash and pdf do not work for me. Says it's getting, then buffering but nada using Mplayer-plugin. Also, in preferences can't change plugin used to Kaffeine or Gxine as Opera just reverts back to Mplayer as soon as I click ok.

Zafer ARICAN 18. March 2008, 16:59

I am having problem with gmail.
After I login, it gets stuck in loading page (white page with the red text "loading" on top right.) and does not show the inbox.

Linux build 1875 static 10 debian package

Alexis Deveria 18. March 2008, 17:01

@ytsmabeer

I guess what I meant was "the first released Kestrel build", which was technically an alpha. :smile:

berend ytsma 18. March 2008, 17:01

@tynopex:You've got "fit to width" on

rseiler 18. March 2008, 17:01

Weird effect: The Personal Bar "goes out":

1) Have Personal Bar on.
2) Bring up a dialog box of some kind (Edit Set Preferences, Tools Preferences, etc).
3) Note that the Personal Bar is now grayed out.
4) Dismiss dialog box and find that Personal Bar is still grayed out.
5) Click anywhere in main browser window to "activate" Personal Bar again.

Vista

chosenone437 18. March 2008, 17:02

if i right click on a image click image properties personal bar disapears and come backs or wen wan pop up asking if to save a password

Stifu 18. March 2008, 17:06

No matter how many times I restart the Acid3, I get 76, not 77. Through refresh or by revisiting the page. Maybe a Vista-specific bug?

Alexis Deveria 18. March 2008, 17:08

@Stifu

It might depend on which page you're viewing Acid3. They recently changed one of the tests where all browsers get one more point.

chosenone437 18. March 2008, 17:11

also personal panel becomes on clickable

anyone can confirm this?

Tim Altman 18. March 2008, 17:14

If you're having problems with Gmail, try closing all Gmail tabs, deleting cookies, and deleting cache. That may help it to work.

Tamil 18. March 2008, 17:15

Cursor goes to start of first line after clicking smiley. awww

lnforMed 18. March 2008, 17:24

youtube works if you make opera identify as Firefox!!!!!! Linux version!

This new build is the fastest!

Thanks and keep the good work!

thobi 18. March 2008, 17:29

Save As for a web page only lets you save as "HTML file" on Windows.
The progress bar does not show if it's set to "Pop-up at the bottom".

:frown:

surfer dude 18. March 2008, 17:35

Where's the Solaris Sparc build?

quark 18. March 2008, 17:36

No progress bar here too...

Cyro 18. March 2008, 17:36

@Junyor: Did you test this windows build on Windows Vista w/ SP1 ?
The context menu is not showing icons at all.

altmind 18. March 2008, 17:38

fix file saving dialog asap, please.
opera is unusable untill it is done.

Шуйский Николай [krigstask, Ŝtérkrìg] 18. March 2008, 17:38

You told us there's nothing big coming! Liars! :cheers: :beer: :cheers:

Thanks!

What about non-working anchors, though?

Bartek Sumowski 18. March 2008, 17:43

GMail does NOT open at all

Eric 18. March 2008, 17:44

Wheres the shared linux .deb :no: I guess the linux majority is stuck with static builds this rev Homer: Doh!

I'll give it a shot and report back

Alexis Deveria 18. March 2008, 17:45

I wonder how many of those Acid3 fixes are actually of any practical value. :smile: Guess I just need to work on improving my javascript/DOM knowledge for that to become apparent.

Abílio Araújo 18. March 2008, 17:47

As the previous build, at the end of the installation, it tells me I don't have the necessary rights to make some changes. I do use and admin account though... If I deny to roll back the changes made up until that point, then it works and seems to be the correct version.
Last build used to crash a lot, specially going back to previous pages. In a few ocasions, when trying to restart Opera, it would hang in there doing nothing. I managed to fix it by going to the cache folder and delete all files (and why the heck there are always more than 1000 tiny files?).

topplehat 18. March 2008, 17:47

Every time I try to get to the Opera Help the browser crashes. This happens whenever I press F1 or select it from the help menu.

Alexs 18. March 2008, 17:48

@tynopex
No problem with Acid2, you have enable fit to with (ctrl+F11).

Herwig 18. March 2008, 17:57

This bug is present since the last few builds:

Opening .htm files in Windows Explorer does not work.

If Windows Explorer is configured to launch Opera for .htm files and when I click on such a file, Opera is actually launched, but it displays its normal start page instead of the local .htm file.

Bug report filed: 318896

Cheers
Herwig

Hypezor 18. March 2008, 17:59

Thanks for build !
Even www.deezer.com works better, but not 100% yet. :wink:

Yes, and that definitely should be added to Known Issues.

Here, Gmail is working both in Vista and XP SP2.

Unfortunately, my dear and old friend bug #314466 is still present. I still get to see icons in Opera only in the first usage. After I close Opera, icons are gone for ever. Today I did a fresh install. Deleted all my Opera profile folders but it is still broken.

juksu 18. March 2008, 18:18

Still no windows shell integration on Windows and Totem player seems to crash Opera Pluginwrapper(Fedora8) like it dit in older builds , MPlayer works but it is not good player for me.

Anyway good and fast build.

Yeah I know, but it's not that. I just installed the latest Opera build at home (XP), and I get 77/100 this time, on the same test (the first result on Google).

GrantTLC 18. March 2008, 18:23

Sweet Monkey jesus...! I did a seperate install of this latest build after months of upgrades (read it here in an earlier comment) and found there's a noticeable speed increase across the board! Almost - but not quite - as good as going up from 9.25 to Kestrel!

Great work, guys! :yes:

serious 18. March 2008, 18:23

* Fixed inline find. [...] plugin methods not accessible from javascript engine when data attribute defined [...] And lots more of stability fixes!

nice, nice and nice ^^

about youtube: well, it's still useable and even feels a little faster esp on the main page, so who cares about some broken stuff? (makes the layout a little bit tidier anyhow :wink: )
about acid3: nice work, with 9.5 final you'll surely hit at least 80-85

João David 18. March 2008, 18:27

Just one question, in Inline field search how do we jump to the next highlighted result? Is there any keyboard shortcut to do that?

Iron Bone 18. March 2008, 18:28

I use on my iGoogle page Google Calendar. Unfortunately it reloads every second and opera take more the 50% CPU.

Blaz Pristy 18. March 2008, 18:29

Nice even better...ACID3 test is now 77% before was 65%

But still Safari 3.1 beta +WebKit have 88%

Keep it coming....

Opera 9.50 ACID3 77%

tynopex 18. March 2008, 18:32

@ytsmabeer:
Ah! Thanks. I always forget about that option. It does make some websites angry when I leave it on and I forget to try without.

illiad 18. March 2008, 18:36

altmind, thobi: Please check properly what you get when you press Ctrl S ... :smile:

Tiju 18. March 2008, 18:39

@piroxicam:
Just use F3

illiad 18. March 2008, 18:39

I get the above on 9815, 9841...

and yes, I do get crash when pressing F1...

GrantTLC: a good reason for making a separate install, then!! :up:

Kurt 18. March 2008, 18:42

I have noticed that when adding a bookmark my entries in the personal bar grey-out!

FataL 18. March 2008, 18:44

F3 -- next result, Shift + F3 -- previous.

Teal_One 18. March 2008, 18:48

Wow, thanks a lot for this build. Especially fixing the inline find and the acid3 improvements.

Happy Easter to the Opera Team and keep up good working!

PS: http://freenet-homepage.de/teal_one/opera2.html isn't fixed yet. Of course I made a BugReport (but don't have the BugID at the moment :smile:.

wile-e-wonka 18. March 2008, 18:48

@piroxicam:
I use ctrl + G

charraoalegria 18. March 2008, 18:51

Why dont you make qt-shared deb...???

Kurt 18. March 2008, 18:56

Further to my last, also seems to happen when selecting Tools - Preferences..
