EV and Certificate Updates
By Claudio Santambrogio. Tuesday, 8. April 2008, 14:12:24
We've introduced subtle, but important UI and back-end changes is this build. In just a few words: Kestrel gets EV, the address field will change the way it displays page information, and we now have automatic certificate updates!
This latest snapshot build has support for Extended Validation (EV) certificates. This means that on EV sites you'll see a padlock on a green background. And remember: It ain't EV 'til it's EV, all EV. Opera is a more strict than other browsers, and will display an EV site with a "green padlock" only if all elements on the page are from EV sites. Read Yngve's article for more details.
There are some more changes in the address bar: the fraud protection button will now work differently. For HTTP sites you will not see the button anymore. On HTTPS sites the padlock will be on a yellow background (green for EV). If, however, you come across an HTTPS site which lowers the overall rating of the security level of the page (details on the levels are again to be found in Yngve's article), you will see a grey "?" button, which will provide you with more information on the security level. A fraudulent page will still be flagged with a red warning in the address field.
The back-end change in this snapshot affects the certificate database: we can now add new Roots to the Certificate Authority database without requiring users to update their installation. Find details about this over in Yngve's article.
WARNING: These are development snapshots: they contain the latest changes, but they also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, they may not work at all.

Edit: Based on Rijk reponse it might be related to the EV stuff. Seems strange since some of the opr???? files where created on 24-Mar and 27-Mar.

Fantastic! Always good to see features progressing. Felt like the sync feature was frozen for a while. Keep up the excellent work!

When I try to stop loading by pushing the Reload/Stop button Opera instantly crashes.
This bug not only occurs in this snapshot but also for, at least, the last 3 or 4 builds.
In my logs I can afterwards always find something like this:
opera[4610]: segfault at 0000000000000041 rip 0000000000ba67b6 rsp 00007fffd135fc20 error 4
OS: Debian Etch amd64 with the x86_64-linux version of Opera
Beside that.. Nice work guys.

Hey would it be crazy to have a panel button that controls syncing in the pop-out sidebar? Then you could just have check boxes for bookmarks, notes, speeddial, etc...? Just throwing that out there.

@ar1pe

thx and let's try
edit: *ouch* first time i started the updated opera it didn't take my masterpw
started without typing it in and after opera started i activated opera-link again, typed the mpw in and it worked *hm*
Cyro # 8. April 2008, 19:50
Awesome. That's the best feature ever!
But wait... where can I enable it?
hmm.. that's it.. opera:config#OperaSync|SyncNotes

This page just gives me an error: http://www.wachovia.com/myaccounts
Also, if I try to sign in from the home page I get the same error. The page works fine from FF and worked fine for me a few minutes ago in the prior build.
[edit works again!]

EDIT:
Also, it appears that line breaks are not handled properly between windows and linux. My windows notes were synced to my linux pc and all of the line breaks were missing, so lists that i had made went from this:
-item1
-item2
-item3
..to this..
-item1 -item2 -item3
Line breaks != spaces, haha.

I think, not a few people use Yahoo Mail. The newer, with nice graphics, etc…
And its worst by build by build.
Now simple things, like Reply not work…
So, i understand its impossible to test every web page, but the very basic one test for a few big names maybe worth it a half a minute.
Kamalesh # 8. April 2008, 20:08
Hope we can get rich-text in compose mail, fixed soon, also.
Kyle Baker # 8. April 2008, 20:10
Also, folder names are not being saved to "link" properly on my linux pc. When they sync to my windows pc, the names are completely missing, but the content inside the folder is correct.

It's always the little things! Took me a couple of days to realise this wasn't me! Painting has been a little weird on 4729 (patchy with a small part of the screen not being redrawn along with the rest) and I had five crashes one after the other last night which looked like they were caused by going back on amazon.com. Still a memory hog on large bittorrents which almost inevitably lead to crashes. Will be interesting to see how this build fares but I don't really mind because Opera is still so much better than the others!

It can be seen on http://pspupdates.qj.net - when javascript enabled it doesn't load page completely, after turning it off and reloading - it's displayed ok.
Bug 322542.
Justin # 8. April 2008, 20:40
Same with me. My master password didn't work right away either in windows. It worked fine in linux
Also, notes synchronization isn't working for me. Is there any way to see if it is?
EDIT: I take it back. Notes synchronization is working for me, but only for notes created with this build. Not previous notes. Again, is there any kind of web-based note viewer?
EDIT: I guess I'm just a big liar. All of my notes have synchronized now.
Thank you so much for this fantastic feature. I even went to Google Notebook when this feature wasn't around.

Note gray background on all page
Background should be white now
Background should be all gray again, but it is not!
Note white border.
Is it known?
Seems like that was a bug (oldest builds (9656) did not repaint background at all on exit from print preview), but not fixed completly.

About Wachovia: This is due to the revocation information being sent by the CA as a PEM file, not a binary file as currently expected by Opera. That triggers a SSL/TLS decoding error. I'll have to add a decoding step there.

but not for https
but for google site like gmail and google reader i had to disable the use of my proxy because the google site do not load at all or are delayed i got an error like network not reachable.
i thought it was an https related problem. but my bank site works nice
may be it has something to do with the 301 error and 302 error that google use for those site and may be something related to https too ?
i have got that error about "network not reachable" even for a simple google search from opera top bar !!! and my connexion is fine
i have to reload the search page at google to see it
i really doubt it is a problem with bfilter.
for sure it is opera.
