Beta 2 is Coming...
By Adam Minchinton. Thursday, 17. April 2008, 12:32:30
Things here in the Desktop Team have been very, very hectic lately as we approach Kestrel Beta 2. The good news it that the wait is almost over.
Introduced in this build is a new fraud protection back-end. It's better, more reliable and allows us to block malicious sites more quickly than ever before. Fraud protection is now enabled by default.
For all of you non-native English speakers out there, most translations are included in this snapshot. Of course, someone will have to tell you what this blog post actually says for you to get the snapshot.
So download it, enjoy, and submit your feedback.
WARNING: These are development snapshots: they contain the latest changes, but they also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, they may not work at all.

When "Preferences->Advanced->History->Empty on exit" is checked, visited links are not coloured grey anymore after a restart. It would be extremely nice to have 9.50 on par with 9.27 here.

...Yes I know you can change Transfers Tab preferences in order to stop that tab pop-up behavior. But we know that because we are Opera fans and experts, normal people will find that annoying and they won't know how to deal with it.
Please

The bug with RSS feeds with pictures getting "cut-off" seems to be solved.
Hurray for search on the context menu on highlighted text that is inside a hyperlink
On the Open With context menu why is there a separator between FireFox & Internet explorer?
alf245 # 17. April 2008, 17:23
1) The width of the address field drop-down decreases when a few buttons are added to the address bar. Not so with 9.27.
2) The height of the address field drop-down is still smaller in comparison to 9.27: Two lines are missing (Linux build).
3) The height of the search field drop-down has been drastically reduced: 22 simultaneously visible entries in 9.27, just 12 simultaneously visible entries currently. Way too little for me.

Anyway... I got a problem with mail
I updated like this:
uninstall with cccleaner, then re-run the cleaner to start on a empty sheet.
Then installed using the .msi intaller build into "\Opera" directory where v9.27 was before.
At first launch, Opera presented me a screen to update some mail database, clicked yes, then restarted as asked.
On restart, asked me to upadte database again. Clicked yes, then restarted.
Now at every launch Opera gives me an error message about mail:
"There was a problem initializing Opera Mail.
Engine Init() failed"
And under Tools tab, the section 'Mail and Chat accounts' is greyed out.
Any advice?
i'm on Vista 32bits system btw.

Sadly 1 thing was not fixed:
Fixed print preview of mail and pages with iframes
Blank site after print preview. Try with google image preview or e.g. http://images.google.at/imgres?imgurl=http://www.opera.com/img/press/screenshots/opera9.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.opera.com/press/images/gfx/&h=768&w=1024&sz=189&hl=de&start=16&um=1&tbnid=ibUupulpf-gwkM:&tbnh=113&tbnw=150&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dopera%2Bsite:www.opera.com%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dde%26sa%3DG
By the way print preview of framesites still not scrollable.
I wish n hope the best!
