When I go to some sites (like www.osnews.com) it will load the site but when I start to scroll down, opera locks up.

I'm using the x86_64 rpm build on RHEL 5 and the KDE desktop.

Any ideas?

First impressions from Dragonfly:
  • A little bit slow, but understandable because it is all written on JavaScript
  • No Net graph yet (HTTP requests watch)
  • Questionable way to show DOM path to selected element:
    HTML > HEAD + BODY > DIV + DIV > UL
    instead
    HTML > BODY > DIV#navigation > UL
...And elements of DOM path not clickable for fast navigation to parents.

I can't

Wladimiruntitled1 Tuesday, May 6, 2008 3:49:48 PM

my file choose dialog looks like here:

http://i29.tinypic.com/2gxi71v.png

on kde 3.5.9, kubuntu 8.04 32bit and 64bit...

i don't like the default file chooser and would use the gtk one, i f it would show the main elements... it would be better to implement the default kde/qt file chooser like the konqueror's one....

or does someone knows how to fix this ugly design??

thanks!

Set this opera:config option to 1 to use standard (windows-style) QT widgets. If that's set to 2 (as in your case I'm guessing) it will use GTK (gnome-style) widgets.

Like you, I'm hoping for a 3rd option for using native KDE widgets (file choosers etc) in the very near future - 9.5 final would be nice... wink since I don't like the GTK widgets nor am I a particular fan of the standard QT windows-style widgets. Full KDE support would round things off nicely for Opera (which would then have native Mac, Windows, KDE and Gnome widgets and support), and will be even nicer when using KDE 4.

How about fixing google agenda ? I've filed a bug report and it's still no change at all, I think A LOT of people are using google agenda so it's a shame it's not fixed yet...irked

Raistlin Tuesday, May 6, 2008 4:15:58 PM

@Bill_P and @lamarca
Yes, this cookie issue is old... so old, that I've worried that is my settings fault. But only Opera's developer forgot about it.

New look for the address field dropdown

It would be nice to see some options for ordering the address dropdown too. For example, when I type news.bbc in, I see all the bbc news links I visited, but usually I just want to go to the root, ie. http://news.bbc.co.uk. Often I see very deep pages first, and have to ctrl-backspace to get the root url.

So, for me, it would be nice to have an option to sort groups of identical dns-pages by root->leaf, where urls sharing the same dns, and also the option to sort the entire list root->leaf, so that the root dns pages are at the top, followed by leaf pages. In all cases the sort order to leaf is by directory depth.

Unless there's something I'm missing?

Thanks for the new build...

BUT:
Opera is damn slow in establishing connections. Sometimes I have to wait up to 30 seconds before Opera loads a page, which is a pain in the ass.
I'm using the latest MacOSX Leopard (10.5.2). Can anyone confirm this? When I use Opera 9.27 everything is good and other browsers are fast too. But Kestrel wastes my time.

Nice Tabs by the way!

@sebt
I totally aggree with you. What I would love to see, too would be that the first entry in the dropdown-list will get selected by pressing the COMMAND-Key. Like under MacOSX Tiger in Spotlight.

MyOpera team, please fix this!fearphage Tuesday, May 6, 2008 4:56:11 PM

New look for the address field dropdown

Why does opera save EVERYTHING to the address bar dropdown but a lot of it is not retrievable by typing parts of. For instance, if i type 'dragon fly' in to the field it will search google for dragon fly as expected. This search will be saved in the address bar. However, if i start typing the word dragon my previous search will not appear in the drop down. The same can be said for 'javascript:alert(0);'. Although it is saved in the dropdown, it is not retrievable.
The same is true for data uris (data:text/plain,catpants). Javascript and data uris actually make sense to be saved in the dropdown to me. However, neither of them can be retrieved without manually pulling down the address bar.

@staff: What is the purpose of saving things to the dropdown if you can't retrieve them conveniently?

Bill PBill_P Tuesday, May 6, 2008 4:59:07 PM

address bar dropdown - I'd like to be able to select the colors

Junyor/Blaaberg:

#326088 seems fixed as well as the other JavaScript CPU churn I reported. Logging in to Google Mail and Live Mail works as it should again.

#326084 also seems fixed, can connect as it should be to bugs.opera.com, no more ssl issues.

#326089 also works as it should with the pop-up insta-search when using /.

So only #326086 left, the 2 line textarea of http://translate.google.com/

Thanks for fixing those JavaScript issues and the other stability issues, much appreciated.
