A lighter EV
By Claudio Santambrogio. Friday, 23. May 2008, 14:12:02
We have been very strict on our EV implementation - the rationale behind our strict "It ain't EV 'til it's EV, all EV" has been extensively documented by Yngve in a few articles.
However, we are now moving towards a less strict implementation - a consistent user experience is important throughout the wide palette of browsers that implemented EV. At the recent face-to-face meeting with the Web Security Context Working Group, we have agreed with other vendors on this behaviour as an industry standard. You will now get the green padlock, signalling the presence of an EV certificate, if the top level document is served with strong TLS and EV, and all included elements are served at least with strong TLS. For details, please head over to Yngve's article.
In other news, Dragonfly guys have started making snapshots as well, with their first one released yesterday. On the desktop side we have started persistently caching the Dragonfly application so that it loads much faster, and can be used offline, after restarting Opera.
Also, our Core team has started a blog - head over to the new Core Team blog to follow the cool news and latest development at Opera's heart.
WARNING: These are development snapshots: they contain the latest changes, but they also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, they may not work at all.

Bug number for the find bug? Also happens on this page when searching for "have ". It looks like it happens to any text that leads up to a hyperlink (with a space between) if the same situation occured previously (up the page).
In the test cases I did ("the ", "have ", "new ") this is what happens.

The new build seems very fast here. I don't think lowering
the ev standard is a good idea but I think people who are coming
from using other browsers will at least see a uniform standard of
verification and make it some what less confusing.
Also on this point I am hoping that also all the colours and icons
for each stage of verification can become standard so its the same
no matter what browser you use.
@tsarhan,
I don't get any warnings on any of the sites you listed?.
Are there any site that shows the distributing malicious
software warning besides the site tsarhan pointed out?.
I noticed the new Firefox 3.0 RC1 has this sort of warning
besides the one for phishing sites and hopefully Opera will
implement this feature in the near future.
cheers

edit: this scrolling problem is too annoying, back to 1971 for me
edit2: no problems on mandriva 2008.1 spring though with build 1983
edit3: okay I installed the static qy4 version (which is installed in ubuntu too) and I do get the artifacts in mandriva too

But 9.5 has been a joy until now, so I have reverted back to build 10005 and the CPU hogging problem is gone.
I really hope whatever changes in this build that is causing this problem don't persist through to the final...
On Vista SP1.

(10014 is, of course, a clean install, as always.)
Can anyone confirm?

10014 was real sluggish on scrolling 'cause of the high CPU usage on my system.

edit: also the navigation is broken. if you chose something of the subnavigation, the submenu does not disappear, when hovering over an other part of the navigation.

While the 'save as' dialog does now add extensions, attempting to save 'HTML with images' saves only the html.
This was a fresh install with the 'classic installer' of build 10014 on Windows98, with OperaConfig set to save images in the same folder as the html, rather than using a separate images folder.
MetalRaise # 24. May 2008, 11:42
Yes, I also noticed an increase in CPU usage.
I really hope it won't stay like this, as performance-wise 10014 is the worst build since months, at least on my system.

Removing individual entries was never possible from the UI. So if you want what the Delete Private Data dialog did for typed addresses earlier, just delete the entire opera.dir file. that's not my case, i always deleted the whole typed addresses by going to delete private data and checking the old and good option.

oh well, if i want to keep ''history of visited pages' i have to get used to edit/delete opera.dir from now on.

I usually use only the option "history of typed-in addresses", and now... ?
Please, rather than remove options, give us more options.
Anyone who wants to remove the two "types", mark the two "types", but please do not merge two different functions.

I also find that all of the 9.5 releases so far have been very unstable and crash sporatically. This usually happens either when I first open the browser or when I begin to type an address manually into the address bar (happens about 1 time in 5). I hope that this gets sorted out before 9.5 is officially released.

- even scrolling spikes the cpu..
- press 'rightclick' - it takes about a second for a menu to appear!! much the same with others functions, including midclick, drag scrollbar.....
http://www.smiston.com/ for example... (on windows 2000)
in 9.27, and 9.5(9981) this takes 3 seconds to display..(using watch, NOT progressbar)
in build 10005 & 10014 this takes 6 seconds!!
- If you think this may be some 'use hardware acceleration' that is neded, please tell...

then entering a "comments" in any entry in the blog, if i press "back" in the browser to go back to the main page again, opera crashes.
it has happened in other pages as well.
can anyone reproduce this?

oh my! THAT WORKS! Thank you, I wasn't aware that I could have more speeddials. I have added two columns, since I have a wide display.
@ALL
By the way:
there is a problem with www.pcworld.pl in this build. Clicking BACK usually doesn't work. And each page adds two entries to history (looks sort of redirection, but I think it isn't). I have noticed the same problem on at least one other site (the name of which I can't remember).
