There is no classic installer? :'(

http://www.opera.com/download/index.dml?step=2&opsys=Windows&platform=Windows

Why do you do it? Why do you hide it?

Buchtic 3. July 2008, 08:29

latest build 10081 is 9.51 final

x666 3. July 2008, 08:31

ytsmabeer 3. July 2008, 08:31

The classic is ofcourse the old installer, and my best gues is that by time it will disapear. But for now itś still there for people who really tink that they need it, and can find it.
Try the normal way ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/win/951/en/

fredrikc 3. July 2008, 08:32

Great work but why does my 9.5 say that it's the latest version of Opera when I search for updates?

user258 3. July 2008, 08:32

we need the classic installer.

Please post it somewhere.

chiken 3. July 2008, 08:32

Try to download the "normal" setup, copy the "click here" address and change the id=31451 to id=31450.

My working one:

Normal way is: http://opera.com/download/

ytsmabeer 3. July 2008, 08:36

@zoquete: I mean ofcourse the normal way of finding something :D

zoquete 3. July 2008, 08:40

Ftp is not accessible for people, who does not know the ftp-url.

wirusek 3. July 2008, 08:41

thanks

GiraffePC 3. July 2008, 08:42

Yes, please have the Classic Installer o the download page - it's always difficult to find until someone posts a link. Don't like MSI - nasty disease!

cspot 3. July 2008, 08:44

10081 is 9.51 final now, so you managed to release bug 335896 twice :-/
these tooltips drive me crazy (especially when statusbar is off...)
more about this sad story here

celeb 3. July 2008, 08:55

problems with icons in search box... only some of them loads... still... when you open bookmars with click on wheel in windows, it doesn't open in background but foreground...

hk1021 3. July 2008, 08:58

cspot, your test page works fine for me on 9.50. Can't reproduce your problem.

tjo44 3. July 2008, 09:00

Thanks a lot for fixing the adWords/Analytics pop-up-thing!!

hk1021 3. July 2008, 09:11

9.51 (Windows XP) still has a bug that wasn't in 9.27:

go to http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2008-07/

click a message with follow-ups (e.g., http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2008-07/msg00022.html

click the follow-up in the message

go back in history to http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2008-07/

the follow-up is not marked read. Reloading http://cygwin.com/ml/cygwin/2008-07/ shows it read. 9.27 showed it read without reload.

The-Doc 3. July 2008, 09:12

With this installer, how can i set to use the same profile ? Thanks

zoquete 3. July 2008, 09:15

The-Doc: While installing, browse to your previous opera-install-folder.

mihmanz 3. July 2008, 09:46

Where is Russian Opera 9.51 (as for 9.50)?

ar1pe 3. July 2008, 09:49

Thanks again :D Err... same build. Allready using.

zoquete 3. July 2008, 09:50

mihmanz: Again, download the international msi-installer or download russkiy jazyk here:

http://www.opera.com/download/lng/950/ouw950_ru.lng

You don't need to download it everytime again. Language files does not change that often.

theradex 3. July 2008, 09:50

Thanks!

flotsam22 3. July 2008, 09:55

I am using Vista Home Basic, and Opera 9.5 , which is a bit slow so I hope the 9.51 improves in this area, will try it today. But thanks for all you are doing , I really do appreciate that.. flotsam22

mniess 3. July 2008, 10:06

Hey,

why are the other Linux builds not available on the regular download-page? When using Ubuntu (latest) I get offered the gcc3-qt3 build.. why is that the default when gcc4-qt4 makes the interface snappier and everything just better?

mihmanz 3. July 2008, 10:22

zoquete: I mean where is Opera_951_ru_Setup.exe. When I go to opera.com and click download, i can download (and it shows automatically) Opera_950_ru_Setup.exe (it's only 6,8Mb).

Turbid 3. July 2008, 10:23

when will be available build on deb.opera.com?

tomurbanowicz 3. July 2008, 10:31

The history of transfer is not clearing at exit, when in opera:config is "Keep Entries Days" = 0
After restart history of transfer is not clear.

I reported: bug-345361

lamarca 3. July 2008, 10:32

thanks.

paolo22177 3. July 2008, 10:32

Regressions i noticied from 9.27:

-There's no popup notification when sending emails.
Note: i see the progress bar when receving/sending email, but i must open Messages panel to view it...

-When Opera is running and new messages arriving the 'O' icon in system tray doesn't change to white envelop.
It means, for example, that when i go away and i return after few minutes, i don't know if new mail arrived and i must go into messages area to check...

:-(

VioLance 3. July 2008, 10:41

zoquete, hey man)) thanks for the "russkiy jazyk")))

xyborg 3. July 2008, 10:52

Downloading!.. and thanks for this:
"Saving of images is no longer recorded in transfers."

:D

The-Doc 3. July 2008, 10:59

The-Doc: While installing, browse to your previous opera-install-folder.

@zoquete : and what about from a clean install ?

zoquete 3. July 2008, 11:02

The-Doc: tha same way, just read better, what the installer says to you

I am using exclusively classic installer, so I hope, I am not wrong.

again faster?
easy to install?
yeah, i like it.

mihmanz 3. July 2008, 11:31

@zoquete: My question was where is it, I haven't found it too, though when clicking Download I go to Opera 9.50 RU!!! I don't know how to paste an image here, but, please, see:
http://my.opera.com/mihmanz/albums/ (in Basics)
or here: http://slil.ru/25953907

The-Doc 3. July 2008, 11:32

@Zoquete : with the classic installer, i had to check 'use same profile for all users' (something like that).
But with the default installer, this option is not there.

btw, whats the major difference between these two installers ?

Jazmo 3. July 2008, 11:35

I've Mozilla Thunderbird as email client. Also, from opera's preferences, i've changed thunderbird as default mailto: program.

But still, if i click mailto-link, opera asks me if i want to use system default mail or operas own. If i answer that use default, nothing happens (except blank page).

I don't have any mail accounts in Opera.
