yes, sometimes it stucks for a moment
or it takes long time to start loading
like the server is blocked.

but the same problems occurs with ie7.
ie7 manages it a bit faster.

when i understood right, opera tries to load as many pages as possible.
there are also some users in my friends list
which produce nearly everytimes slow loading
if you click on their's photo or link.
they have very plein and sophisticated blogs.

maybe the lines/cables to norway have capacity problems
with the high traffic of opera community. bigsmile

Domdom0410 Sunday, July 6, 2008 12:54:58 PM

@Micky:

I'm also using Win XP SP3 and maps.google.com works perfectly fine for me.. confused

exit Sunday, July 6, 2008 2:30:29 PM

Since I downloaded this version any page that needs to set up a secure connection
9 out of ten times fails to do so and if I do succeed into logging into hotmail
I am lucky if I am able to open mail.
And if I use my windows live mail program I have no problems and I seem to have the same problem with IE7 this all started after I downloaded this version of opera.
I am not dumping on opera as opera is my main browser

klonkkombolan Sunday, July 6, 2008 2:50:15 PM

the message "appache server port 80h bla bla bla" i don't see anymore with 9.51. very seldom the page with the young boy appears, which tells me that they are doing technical works. before 9.51 this came up more often. and, if you click on the reload button same minute the requested page was shown. in the moment i have only to wonder about the site with the link to the requested page, which tells me that the request could not be solved in the moment. ok, i click the link and it is solved.
i take the cap of the dispatcher and give it to an other one. chef

maybe the line is crossing german territory. the customs there are reading all the opera messages for terroristic content. this takes some seconds. avoid aggressive words like bomb, kill, no good, fuck, shit etc. thank you for your appreciation bigsmile

Konstantinmaybkot Sunday, July 6, 2008 3:23:34 PM

@operabugsme:
I also haven't got any problems on this site! Probably problem isn't in Opera, it may be in other application!

People - when any sites don't work, check up your configuration especially your block-list! And also download and install the latest versions of extensions, for example Flash Player!
Problem might be in this extions but not always we can see it. Also I advise check parameteres which set any picture settings.
Have a good time community! =)cool idea

solars Sunday, July 6, 2008 3:47:30 PM

It is not caused by extensions, configuration changes slow lines or any other custom issues, otherwise I wouldn't have commented.

Joshua PhelpsJoshuaPhelps Sunday, July 6, 2008 3:49:31 PM

yea like when i login to facebook it never actually logs me in, but i might know the problem.

MrGalaxy Sunday, July 6, 2008 5:49:46 PM

Who knows, what these letters:
"gcc4.qt3"
in the name of Opera for Linux deb means?

The presence of library gcc4 in Opera distr?

berend ytsmaytsmabeer Sunday, July 6, 2008 5:52:22 PM

Real Player app launcher bug: (reported as bug# 346116)
Go to C-SPAN live video page. Click on "stand-alone player." Real v11 launches, but Opera goes into a loop opening an infinite number of tabs...

(Build 4886, Real v11, Leopard v10.5.4)

.Dani Sunday, July 6, 2008 7:28:24 PM

Google Maps doesn't work anymore. If I recall correctly, it did not work on RC1, got fixed in RC2 and is broken again now. If 9.51 final is the same build as RC3, it obviously didn't work in that version either but I can't recall anything about RC3 and maps, didn't use it in that build I believe.

Gölök Zoltán Leenderdt Franco BudayOrff Sunday, July 6, 2008 8:17:13 PM

I agree with the classic installer, *.msi is unreliable and garbage.
This isn't IE or even Netscape, so I am use to, or is it now?

Gölök Zoltán Leenderdt Franco BudayOrff Sunday, July 6, 2008 8:20:11 PM

Oh I hate that damn google cookie trap up there. Scroogle.org forever!

Joshua PhelpsJoshuaPhelps Sunday, July 6, 2008 8:56:17 PM

Diam0nd- i hate the tray notification opera icon to just right click your start menu click property find the check mark saying hide inactive icons and to the right click customize, look for the opera icon click the hide when inactive and change it to always hide. then maybe it won't bother you.

The only way is the commandline option -notrayicon.

If you don't use Opera's mail/RSS, you can kill several birds with one stone by setting this to 0:
opera:config#UserPrefs|ShowE-mailClient

A nice side-effect is that the tray icon is also gone. In earlier versions, you did have to use -notrayicon as well.

ayespy Monday, July 7, 2008 5:48:47 AM

@.dani:

Google maps works perfectly here - XP Pro SP3

clybawn Monday, July 7, 2008 7:56:26 AM

I still have problems with my account. Also I checked that the mails on the server should not be deleted if I delete them in Opera, they are deleted on the server too.
Second, my mail trash shows the number of all the e-mail I deleted since I upgraded to 9.5. And although they are finally deleted and moved out of trash, the number still appears.

zoquete Monday, July 7, 2008 8:01:07 AM

I know, it is less important (low priority bug), but would be possible the center the smileys and make them the same size as at the toolbar?

smileys

Joshua PhelpsJoshuaPhelps Monday, July 7, 2008 9:05:43 AM

Joshua PhelpsJoshuaPhelps Monday, July 7, 2008 1:57:30 PM

GroovyMicky Monday, July 7, 2008 2:21:29 PM

@zoquete: What can i describe? I gave screenshot where you can see there is no map where it should be. right

Patkós Csabapatkoscsaba Monday, July 7, 2008 2:25:06 PM

Also WinXP (Pro) XP3, and absolutely no probs with Google Maps. Every feature works as expected.

You guys who are having troubles, maybe try replacing your Opera6.ini file - your browser is behaving other than the way it is written "out of the box." so some tweaks you applied to earlier versions are perhaps not compatible with this one.

IMHO

miki69 Monday, July 7, 2008 6:17:02 PM

Why opera still has Opera6.ini file? Why not Opera9.ini? Just curious as since version 6, in all other incrementation (7,8,9,9.50) it's still Opera6.ini

Cheers,
Miki

Daviddavidviolin Monday, July 7, 2008 7:25:32 PM

A REALLY nasty bug i just discovered is if you reply someone in the Inbox on Facebook, and the reply is so long that the box has to be extended, the reply wont send, and an error message appears asking you to check your internet connection. Same thing in IE7 works fine. It only happens when you reply an inbox message on facebook. Opera 9.51 Final, Vista 32bit.
Please confirm.

GroovyMicky Monday, July 7, 2008 7:31:30 PM

@patkoscsaba: I have it as it is seen from screenshot.

@ayespy: Didn't help.

@miki69: Backward compatibility.

memory usage seems pretty high :omfg

illiad Monday, July 7, 2008 9:21:32 PM

I think people need a recap, on why 'other things' work better... p
(it is because they have been 'fiddled with' so 'problem code' is ignored!!)

- Its a very bad world out there, you should never believe things without *questioning* them!!!

http://www.alternativebrowseralliance.com/why.html - and note that MS DID NOT innovate for 5 years from 2001 to 2006! so its their fault! bigsmile

why does IE show the page well?

a note about flash problems, as well...

and please run a decent monitor, like 'process explorer' ..smile it will tell you the REAL story....

- If you are still worried about usage, consider the racing car... you get 0 to 60 in 2 secs, running at 120 MPH, and barely any noise or strain on the motor.. bigsmile cool yes, they do exist! BUT... will you want 100 MPG from that???

Opera is the same... If ya wanta da speed, you gotta accept the memory usage!

- you can reduce it of course, but by NOT using FAST memory, just slow disc, it will be slowwww..

ayespy Tuesday, July 8, 2008 12:53:56 AM

@Micky:

Possibly other problems in your profile, then, content blocking, outdated Flash version, what-have-you.

I cured almost all such problems on my wife's machine by removing and replacing the entire profile folder (reinstall).

On HER machine, the Adobe website refuses to install Flash to Opera for some reason, even when it's set as the default browser. Downloaded the installer, did it manually, still no go. Had to copy the dll's over myself.

I've not had the problems on this machine, personally, so nothing to cure. I don't use any userjs, or any such thing, so for the most part mo code stays pretty clean, even on upgrades.

Opera 9.51 does nothing when the site is https (freezes when the site https is in first time loading) - I must refresh the site. In Opera 9.50 was not this problem. Regres?

Some scroll bars don't work well.
See this example.
The text area below (it's called "Vas komentar") gets garbled when the scroll bar is moved manually.

Daviddavidviolin Tuesday, July 8, 2008 1:30:12 PM

@Veggen: Confirmed, Win XP SP3, 9.51 Final.

Irontiger Tuesday, July 8, 2008 1:34:30 PM

I found an error:
When you use the AVM-GUI for "Fritz!Box" (open in Opera: fritz.box) and you want to change the settings of the DHCP-server you get (only in Opera) the following prob:
turning the DHCP "on" will give you the message "DHCP off".
turning the DHCP "off" will give you the message "DHCP on".
But the DHCP-server works corret (even if the message is wrong).
Can anyone confirm?

Tested with FB 7170 & 7270.

zoquete Tuesday, July 8, 2008 1:39:25 PM

veggen, would yo do a screenshot? The only problem I see is, that scrollbar does not work at all in the textarea.

nemusa Tuesday, July 8, 2008 6:20:25 PM

I cannot drag urls into the address bar anymore since 9.50 came out. This is very frustrating and I have tried it on 6 different machines. 9.51 still has same problem. Also, cannot use wand on gmail.com. The browser just refreshes the page and does not go to my mail. I can access gmail only by using IE or Mozilla.

zoquete Tuesday, July 8, 2008 7:14:00 PM

no problem with dragging urls here XP SP2.

Try to delete opera6.ini in your profile. This is the file causing most problems in whole opera.
