The PDF now works with Opera

Silverlight2 plug-in not being detected here for Olympics video. (Had to switch to "ID as FF" since Opera is unsupported.)

@kamalesh:This is the site's fault, isn't there a way to contact them?

DavHerrmann 8. August 2008, 20:44

Hello, the top of this site: http://www.pcwelt.de/ isn't rendered correctly.

But all in all, perfect work :-)

Andrew Nguyen 8. August 2008, 21:08

I'm guessing that some of the 'subtle' skin work is a smaller addresse bar. Around 1 to 2px smaller.

I just did. It's a Microsoft-sanctioned site; same, old, tired, slimey story.

@davidviolin: Using XP with the WMP Firefox plugin. If somebody else with Vista would like to have a look, the videos in question can be found at http://www1.nrk.no/nett-tv/nyheter/spill

galanga 8. August 2008, 22:46

- Embedded YouTube videos should work more often now without having to reload

Thanks you very much ! I hope that the "should" and "more often" will soon disappear. It seems to work fine, only one page on ten fails.

I use Vista SP1 with WMP Firefox plugin, and the videos are working.

Most of the scripting on "Old Version" Gmail is still broken. (New version has never worked quite right in Opera either.)

Confirmed.

BTW, the Nvidia Demos link doesn't work. Enter here and try to click in 'Demos': http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_downloads_nvidia.html

And Gametrailers.com still has the fullscreen problem.

Thanks anyway

Looks like Opera is having trouble maintaining its event handlers. Several things got broken when fixing the others. Still a long way to go without having annoyance. Sigh...

giger 9. August 2008, 07:09

I'm still noticing that tinyMCE editor in Joomla 1.x doesn't work corectly...

I've sent you a bug report, but still:
Try pasting some text inside the editor, and then try to change horizontal alignment only of some portion of pasted text... You won't be able to do that, instead all pasted text will change its align.
Also if you try to see the html source of your message by clicking on "HTML" icon in editor, you will only see empty popup with no source code.

All this is very annoying and forces me to use FF for administering Joomla, even though all this perfectly worked in versions of Opera prior to 9.5...

Still, Opera is great browser, and I love to use it.... greetings...

I have problem with this site: www.wp.pl (one of the most popular internet portal in Poland). Flash plugin crashes very often. I'm working on Mandriva Linux 2008.1. Flash 9.0.124.0. I've installed Opera and Flash from .rpm package. This problem is present in all Opera releases (9.2* and 9.5*).

Please help!

ElectriX2 9. August 2008, 09:25

Bug: Right-click anywhere on the page, then move cursor to some link (still holding it) and release. Normal link menu appears. But it's not the problem. Problem is, that it doesn't work, I just have to click the link again. Tested on Windows XP SP3 and Windows Vista 32b SP1. Anybody can confirm?

King Crimson 9. August 2008, 09:44

Please Fix This:

When in Preferences I set to "open next tab on closing a tab", but tabs have been opened by ctrl+shift+left click, it will open last active tab.

Thanks!

I can't
Linux x86 qt3-shared gcc4

gimmeopera 9. August 2008, 10:13

Now this is a weird bug:
Right-click anywhere on a page (but not on a link) to get the standard context menu. Now right-click (and hold the mouse button) on that context menu, then release the button somewhere else on the page.Another instance of the same context menu appears. You can repeat this sequence (right-click on the context menu, drag and release) to spawn hundreds or thousands of context menu clones on a single page.
A good browser should limit this to only one instance.

Krzysztof Trybowski 9. August 2008, 10:23

Opera is really far behind Firefox in aspect of spell checking! When will we see check-as-you-type approach and support for some more decent spellcheckingn systems (like hunspell, which became a de-facto standard of moder applications)?

gimmeopera 9. August 2008, 10:24

This bug has something to do with the issue ElectriX2 is experiencing.

Linux x86 gcc4-qt4 (static) build

gimmeopera 9. August 2008, 10:32

More bugs:

- When zoomed in at 200%,the arrow cursor often doesn't change to the hand one when hovering over links.
Another problem is Opera often doesn't detect the click when clicking on a link. You have to click twice to open that link. This is a very annoying Linux-only bug.

- HTTPS pages load extremely slow or don't load at all (even after a few retries).Gecko-based browsers (Firefox/Seamonkey) open them as they were normal pages in Opera (really fast)

- Timeouts, failed CSS loading and bad performance on dialup connections and high-speed broadband with high latencies or slow DNS servers.Pages don't load gradually as in older versions of Opera.Opera now forces the whole page to be loaded first before displaying it on screen.

- Opera still connects to help.opera.com (port 80) when deleting private data

illiad 9. August 2008, 10:53

gmail working again, 'loading' ok, but not if you do a lot, eg spam....

If they haven't already started doing so, the Opera team should really consider setting up automated tests for as many features as possible, to avoid regressions...

Alexander 9. August 2008, 12:31

Honestly guys, what is it with the address bar dropdown? Why was that changed to sort the adresses in the dropdown menu in a completely random way? The dropdown menu could be used as super fast bookmarks where you would have the last address you visited on top of all the others. Beginning with 9.5 it's completely useless. Where's the improvement in the new dropdown? Why was that changed?

nfredrik 9. August 2008, 12:40

I wonder the same as "ApuNahasapeemapetilon".
Why was the dropdown changed from 9.2x to 9.5x???
I hate the new one and miss the one from 9.2x very much.

inetdysk 9. August 2008, 12:48

To ApuNahasapeemapetilon nfredrik
for me new dropdown is better. I just type part of adress and i see all sites with this word (i have disabled history, my dropdown search only in bookmarks)

Alexander 9. August 2008, 13:42

With the dropdown as it was before, there was no need to even type anything at all. You could just open the dropdown menu and click on the address from the list, which was sorted by "last visited on top". I'm not talking about the "suggestions" Opera makes when typing in an address.

The new search features (searching in bookmarks), I couldn't care less. I don't use them, I don't need them but they don't bother me as well.

However, with the dropdown menu of the address bar, a feature was changed/removed beginning with 9.5 and I just have to wonder why and where the improvement is with new way of sorting the addresses, which to me seems absolutely random.

kavalec74 9. August 2008, 13:46

Will the pointer be fixed in 9.52? This would be a great success afer 3/4 of year. :frown:

inetdysk 9. August 2008, 14:06

Yes, sorting in dropdown is really weird :-(
i wonder how it's works?

Simo85 9. August 2008, 14:40

Hello,
i have a little problem with this site: http://associazionepalm.altervista.org/index.html the title is a applet java, and with the version 10100 it works, but with the last it does'nt works.

Шуйский Николай [krigstask, Ŝtérkrìg] 9. August 2008, 14:51

Linux x86 qt3-shared gcc4 build

MAc Bansleben 9. August 2008, 16:05

Theres problem with Speed Dial. I made my own Speed Dial sites logos, so therefore I had to set up Refresh every: never, on each Dial. But when I choose to clean up history and cleaning ends, all Dials starting to refresh, creating such a mess (individual logos change their places). I had noticed that bug since the final version of O 9.5.

MAc Bansleben 9. August 2008, 16:06

Simo85 > For me it working fine...

element119 9. August 2008, 16:07

entering the character "p" in any form on this site: https://nfa.plateau.com/plateau/user/logout.do opens another page in a new tab.
a capital P works fine.
works fine in IE. not sure about previous versions of opera.

Simo85 9. August 2008, 16:25

MINUS8> Have a rolling effect?

It Works on FF and IE Homer: Doh!

inetdysk 9. August 2008, 17:34

To MINUS8: give readonly attributes to all *.png files in thumbnails folder (after you edit to logo picture) and to opthumb.dat
I also gave read only to speeddial.ini and even if i do clear private data, after restart i have in speed dial my own logos of sites.
Now i disabled delete entire cache, to stop reloadin thumbnails.

Doesn't old-style tabs (which fortunately survived on Linux) look better?
http://img240.imageshack.us/my.php?image=screenshotrz8.png

One look on the tab bar and you know which tab is active. Please do something about this tabs' new look on Windows to make active tab more visible.
