First post was only special when you tYp3d Li|<E tH1$.

Fixed a small memory leak in the BitTorrent code

Were those not using the built-in client affected by this?

Good to see that more and more bugs are getting fixed. Changelog includes less and less critical bugs, which I take to be a good sign

Edit: Oops, looks like I spoke too soon :clown:

AndrewDFrazier 14. August 2008, 12:31

View Source doesn't appear to work.

AndrewDFrazier 14. August 2008, 12:34

Is it deliberate that Windows Media Player plugins are deleted when performing an upgrade?

Nameless Voice 14. August 2008, 12:39

All the Gmail bugs are still present. :frown:

View Source works for me though.

This is really nice, thanks.

bobpage87 14. August 2008, 13:03

Still having problems with www.studentfinancedirect.co.uk. For some reason when you click on Login in the top left it opens a username/password box, which doesn't work, when what it should do is go to a page where you enter your details, as can be seen in Safari for example. Really annoying to have to use a different browser just for this site.

Zulda 14. August 2008, 13:11

I have problem with Notes sync between work and home PCs. Some of Notes are blank. I need them because of Google Notepad and Opera incompatibility.

ThArGos 14. August 2008, 13:23

Added bookmark path to autocompleted bookmarks in the address bar to better distinguish them from visited pages.

As said above, thanks !

haavard 14. August 2008, 13:33

bexs: Please refrain from trolling. If you are having problems, be constructive, specific and to the point.

Andrew Frazier: It's difficult to understand what "doesn't work" means. Please try to describe issues in enough detail for other people to understand what you are referring to.

vinodkk1: I don't know what you wrote, but you should read this carefully, and avoid posting comments that are just noise.

ElectriX2 14. August 2008, 13:52

Why do you always write what are the "known issues". Everybody knows, there are much more "known". So is there any system in it or it's just random selection? Thank you for response.

My report:
1) Torrent downloads now doesn't freeze Opera = problem seems to be fixed. Good job!
2) There is still the right-click menu problem. I don't want to abuse, but is this really so hard to fix?

EDIT: Now I understand "known issues" system, even thought I dislike it. Why can't everyone see all the bugs (on some page for example)? Is there any valuable reason?

I didn't wanted to make this post negative and I apologize for this. Opera was always #1 for me, and a small disagreement has no power to change it.

Junyor 14. August 2008, 13:55

lamarca 14. August 2008, 13:58

thanks for the rc1.

iv93611 14. August 2008, 14:00

Unable upload files to http://virusscan.jotti.org/ and to http://www.virustotal.com/
Servers says "0 bytes size received" :-(
WinXP, SP2.

Stifu 14. August 2008, 14:11

iv93611: this is the one and only known issue noted for this release, pay attention...

Junyor 14. August 2008, 14:11

@iv93611: Please read the Known Issues list before commenting.

pjn123 14. August 2008, 14:13

Tip for the Opera...

When you compress the default skin, use the 'store' compression. This will mean that the installer compression can do a much better job on the files in the zip. The same goes for any zip file in the opera installer.

You can also use PNGGauntlet to compress the png's. I just tested it and managed to reduce the files (PNGGauntlet is lossless btw) by 120kb.

AndrewDFrazier 14. August 2008, 14:17

@haavard: sorry. load up a webpage; right click, choose "source", nothing happens. Alternatively, load up a page, click Ctrl+F3, nothing happens.

larskl 14. August 2008, 14:18

@Andrew Frazier: You have to have disk cache enabled to be able to view source.

maybkot 14. August 2008, 14:21

After this update I can't upload any files to web-hostings for example on slil.ru, ifolder.ru.
Hostings say that - 'Can't upload this(these) file(-s)'.
Firewall and antivirus don't influence on this process.
And also I can't upload any files at forum and blog...
It seems to have been broken...

ElectriX2 14. August 2008, 14:26

iv93611: this is the one and only known issue noted for this release, pay attention...

There was written something like "my.opera.com uploads doesn't work" about 10 mins ago, it's a "small" difference, isn't it? Dunno who changed it, but it was after 14. August 2008, 15:00:34...

@haavard: sorry. load up a webpage; right click, choose "source", nothing happens. Alternatively, load up a page, click Ctrl+F3, nothing happens.

Both working for me. Can't confirm. Last build installed over 10103 on Windows Vista SP1.
Note: In 9.5 the shortcut is CTRL+U instead of CTRL+F3

Question: Is it really possible to release Opera without working uploads and give it a RC attribute? That's not funny! :-D

iv93611 14. August 2008, 14:30

To Junyor and other:
Article was later corrected! Here is original snapshot: http://weben.cz/opera/blog.jpg

AndrewDFrazier 14. August 2008, 14:36

@larskl
That'll be it, thanks.

@ElectriX2
Disabling the disc cache is the root of my problem.

Stifu 14. August 2008, 14:48

ElectriX2: hah. When I first checked this post, the Known Issues were already like that, and he hadn't posted yet. A little while later, his post showed up. So either he didn't read the Known Issues, or writing 3 lines took him a while.
Same comment for maybkot, who posted even later.

So yeah, the Opera team may have changed the Known Issues shortly after having posted this article, but I don't think that's the reason why some people missed this. They most likely just didn't read.

postas 14. August 2008, 15:26

hi,

still bugs:

"rendering bug on http://www.bild.de/ when you going to the regional sites (like hamburg or berlin.

somtimes when you are deeper in the menu of the regional sites, than will not render the hole site, but just a small of them on the right place, i culd not belive it what i was seeing.(ubuntu 8.04)

http://de.advfn.com/ not fixed, opera thinks its a login site for mobile phones (only on ubuntu)

http://www.fujifilm.ch/ menu not works"

ayespy 14. August 2008, 15:33

IMPORTANT:

There's NO WAY you can RELEASE a version with a regression that causes it to fail to load pages longer than a certain length.

See: http://my.barackobama.com/page/community/post/stateupdates/gG5Fzf/commentary#comments

At that site (and others, as seen in the forums), if there are more than about 280 comments on a blog, it shows the page as "loaded" with no vertical scrollbar and no way to scroll vertically = only the very top part of the page can be viewed - none of the comments.

XP SP3

olli 14. August 2008, 15:36

ayespy:Is it a regression since 9.51?

ayespy 14. August 2008, 15:57

Yes

afz 14. August 2008, 16:01

bug-352210 is still present :frown:

Junyor 14. August 2008, 16:10

@ayespy: 9.51 does the exact same thing.

sabio 14. August 2008, 16:11

todoist.com appears to be painfully slow with this build (especialy reordering of the tasks)
returned to the previous one (10103) and everything is back to normal

You should really get something better than mspaint. Paint.net is free and doesn't make images look like poo.

Moderator note: User temporarily banned for trolling.

icare 14. August 2008, 16:56

@ Ayespy
It doesn't work in 9.51 neither.
A little workaround : when page is loaded check or uncheck "fit to width" (in "view menu") and the scrollbar will appear.

ayespy 14. August 2008, 17:07

Wow - 9.51 didn't seem to be doing it on my laptop - but then I tried a blog with 751 posts and it did it.

Seems to be a function of number of lines to be displayed on the monitor WHICH CHANGES ACCORDING TO MONITOR SIZE AND RESOLUTION SETTING. So my laptop can see more lines of text with fewer pixels.

Weird.

Still, 9.51 should not do this, either.

So - I take it back. It's not a regression since 9.51. Possibly since 9.5, and FOR SURE since 9.27.

Yes, the "fit to width" (WTF?) fix works - so I will live with it for now.

Thanks, icare.

Junyor 14. August 2008, 17:10

@bexs: You may have been posting about a bug that made it to the known issues list, but your feedback certainly wasn't constructive.

juksu 14. August 2008, 17:11

Good build anyway, but still Totem Plugins not work in Linux opera.

EricJH 14. August 2008, 18:13

Thankx for the new release.

With 9.52 getting neigh... do I see a Peregrine Falcon fluying there at a distance....?.... and it looks like it is getting nearer to us......:wizard:

MaratPro 14. August 2008, 18:17

And again, like ALL versions above v9.27, websites look like this:

http://i37.tinypic.com/i1flfa.png

http://i38.tinypic.com/w162pl.png

And I can't change it, no matter what I do! I use Windows XP Pro SP3. I tested on a clean install of Windows, I tested it as an upgrade of Opera... it doesn't matter. Why? Am I the only one with this problem?

Shion99 14. August 2008, 18:34

Hi, first, thank you for the great work in Opera

I have one question: What happen if Opera crashes, can i lose configurations or something get corrupted without me knowing?

kyleabaker 14. August 2008, 19:02

Should the default "Download folder" for Opera in Windows Vista not be the "Downloads" folder that is included in Vista by default anyways?

C:\Users\username-here\Downloads\
..instead of..
C:\Users\username-here\Documents\

Firefox already takes advantage of this folder in vista by default so why does Opera not?

The new menu option to close a tab is a good move towards making the switch to Opera easier, but I honestly don't know why new users would choose to go to File->Close Tab instead of clicking the close button on the tab itself. Seems more out of the way, but I guess it will help some users.

The menus are starting to feel cluttered to me. The File menu especially. I'm not sure what exactly needs to be rearranged or moved to another place, but it just doesn't look as friendly and inviting as the menu's in most other browsers.

Wajo357 14. August 2008, 19:18

I have noticed that many websites stop trying to load if it takes too long. It was quite annoying. First started happening in this build.

ditomov 14. August 2008, 19:32

http://www.mscgva.ch/tracking/tracking_login.html is still unusable. It works beautifull with opera 9.27 though. Come on guys, give it a try already, it is some javascript problem.

Morphdreamer 14. August 2008, 19:38

I can't scroll down this page (there should be more pictures):
http://www.joemonster.org/art/9641/Freak_Show
Could anyone confirm?

EDIT:
Oh, and I'm using Windows XP + SP3

Confirmed under Vista SP1.

Uzm 14. August 2008, 19:45

Pretty useless cause of no posibitily of uploading.
I think i'll pass on this one.
Thanks, although.

veggen 14. August 2008, 21:36

^Yep, me too. It was the same with Opera 9.00 RC2 (I think), uploads seem to be a problem for release candidates P:

@All
Opera still ignoring your link-clicks until it finishes loading the page? This problem is kind of big and it seems to be gaining the attention...

z-o-o-m 14. August 2008, 21:49

enlarging pictures still doesn't work :frown: (it uses javascripts)

Mathman 14. August 2008, 21:59

Dear Opera Desktop Team,

Today especially, thank you for this present, a new version of Opera to test. However, I am having trouble getting the complete display of the site

http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gasstations.aspx?zip=62801

Blocks saying "image" display for the prices. I tried masking and identifying as IE, but got the same display upon reloading. IE6 displays the page with the images properly. Is this a Microsoft page problem?

Sincerely,
Mathman
