The first release candidate for 9.6 is just around the corner now, but there are still a couple of issues left to resolve. Now is the time to let us know about any regressions so we can fix them before the RCs

David Shamloo Ekblad # 26. September 2008, 20:17
I don't know if it's new or not but my previos Opera installations always looked like crap in Linux but with this one I get native QT menus and such. Very nice!

2. Fast selection with doubleclick on the end of a link as text (for example: http://www.server/12345/file.zip) is still broken. It marks only "zip" or the whole text.
Carlos # 26. September 2008, 20:41

That's a shame... I really liked this, I thought it was a feature.

You did it, thanks for this great job!
I had an annoying bug - already mentioned here - since 9.50 (Opera used to crash while unloading pages on fr.news.yahoo.com) and now it is OK!
Few (no one?) could reproduce this bug, even me on other computers...
Don't know what it is related to, on the changelog, but that's nice.
I missed Opera features for months, but now, I'm ready to switch back to my favourite browser!
Thanks again!

Javascript command "javascript:resetPage();" still causes tab crash/close out. Rest of Opera is fine, it just kills the existing tab. An example is on here when you click to "Log in" again.

Can atleast see the "collapse menu area" button, but its now using 95+% of screen width when openned. When collapsed its fine
Do anyone here know if its possible to add a toolbar and tabs in fullscreen mode? I like fullscreen mode but would like to see atleast tabs and the address bar. Thanks for any help!

Open another panel in this area (babelfish for example) seems to fix it, but only till i open a link from my bookmarks, after that i can`t scroll if i don`t move my mouse on every rotate of my mousewheel.
System: Intel Mac
Opera: 9.5-9.6 (8.54 works)
Mouse: MX Revolution
Very annoying...

Works pretty fine for me with javascript enabled. Make sure you have the latest browser.js and no conflicting rules at content blocker (i'm using the fanboy ad list with no problems)

- gmail changed opera handling
- user.js changed the way it handled it
- gmail changed/changed back its handling... (I always clear cookies, so it cannot be that... anything else that dynamically 'adjusts opera' ???)
I have been using 10433, but then it started the whole 'still working' thing agan... went back to FF for gmail....
I then found 10433 started 'pausing' youtube after 2 secs!!(it was OK the day before!!) went back to 10427, the same... closed all, restarted Pc, 10427 youtube ok... checked 10433, youtube ok... ?????
youtube ok in 10433 now, but needs 100% cpu, so freezes until the page has loaded(I can then click the || to get resources back)... oh well, lets try the latest...

Twitter.js-strange behaviour still exists ( http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2008/09/19/another-step#comment6067027 )
I've got a question: Are there any site, when one can find some information about goals of future Opera releases (i.e. performance, stability, and so on)?

Took a screenshot to try and illustrate it:

Putting Opera back into full window mode seems to update it. Not a show stopper just really annoying. It doesn't seem to effect certain websites since I've had it happen a number of times on multiple sites.
edit:
Also, skin doesn't matter. I've had it happen on default as well as custom skin (m6black).

Hotmail working fine here with Build 5238 on Mac. Having said that, leaving a "doesn't work" message is crude and useless for everyone here trying to help you out with any issues. Try including:
1. Your platform & version
2. More specificity about what's "not working"
3. Any changes in Opera settings you made that could affect it?
4. Default install or overwrite a previous Opera version?
tim71 # 27. September 2008, 17:39
Take any article with comments - again qt3 build shows everything normally, but with qt4 build the comments are unreadable.
P.S. About my previous post - TTT's button page is unreadable with current 2436 qt4 build, but OK, when I tested 2430 qt4 build.
Looks like something is broken - at least in opera_9.60.2436.gcc4.qt4_i386.deb
Zdeněk Zikán # 27. September 2008, 17:40
No, bugs are fixing something which behaves in other way than it should do. Improvements are changes to current functionality which improve it somehow (not just get it to non-broken state). At least that's commonly used terminology.
(And yes, I think it's good that developers do a lot of buxfixing.)
zikzakatak # 27. September 2008, 18:03
opera has a hickup from time to time.
cpu usage goes 100% for 8-10 seconds and freezes.

This build show me only the adress, look at these two pics:
Ok:
http://jensusut.wohlfuehlboard.de/bilder/member_2.jpg
Not Ok:
http://jensusut.wohlfuehlboard.de/bilder/member_1.jpg
Another small glitch:
Menu item in Tools > Advanced for displaying the security information dialog for the current page (Page Security Info) activates the fraud protection tab. not the security tab...

Jensus
adioni # 27. September 2008, 21:35
...but I'm assuming the above is that's due to squirrely html/css/coding?

for this build (maybe other I haven't check) opera_9.60.2436.gcc4.qt3_i386.deb the "Window" menu is not displayed in the menu bar between Tools and Help.
This RSS feed are not "previewed" : http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/thinkpad_t61.rss
If I save this page on my computer and open it as a local file it is "previewed"
Thanks again

GUI problem on QT4 deb builds (they're shared now it seems,-thx for that very much!
If one is using one of the darker KDE4 QT themes (such as Wonton Soup, that is included by default)--feed and mail notifications are unreadable--as the blue/white text is washed out over the white notification background.
