David Shamloo Ekblad 26. September 2008, 20:17

Thanks for the new snapshot.

I don't know if it's new or not but my previos Opera installations always looked like crap in Linux but with this one I get native QT menus and such. Very nice!

Bugfixer 26. September 2008, 20:36

@pfuschi

CONFIRMED!!!

I'm a german user and the video stream doesn't work.

Bugfixer 26. September 2008, 20:40

1. Html 5 functions still missed. :frown:

2. Fast selection with doubleclick on the end of a link as text (for example: http://www.server/12345/file.zip) is still broken. It marks only "zip" or the whole text.

Carlos 26. September 2008, 20:41

There is a problem with this codes:

<A HREF="#" onMouseOver="popUp('HM_Menu1',event)" onMouseOut="popDown('HM_Menu1')">

Could we have some love for bug 357295 (Content tearing in linux QT4 builds) pretty please?

http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=246720

thx Opera devs!!!

Timothy Conner 26. September 2008, 21:41

Don't highlight script focused elements

That's a shame... I really liked this, I thought it was a feature.

Mladen Pejaković 26. September 2008, 22:05

Occasional lockups where Opera throttles CPU to 100% for about 10-15 seconds still present.

I'm surprised this and another quite annoying bug specific only to QT4 build hasn't been solved yet.

nhk 26. September 2008, 22:53

Yeah !!!!
You did it, thanks for this great job!

I had an annoying bug - already mentioned here - since 9.50 (Opera used to crash while unloading pages on fr.news.yahoo.com) and now it is OK!
Few (no one?) could reproduce this bug, even me on other computers...

Don't know what it is related to, on the changelog, but that's nice.

I missed Opera features for months, but now, I'm ready to switch back to my favourite browser!

Thanks again!

squillaz 26. September 2008, 23:12

Problem still exists with this site which makes it pretty much unusable. Copy to clipboard doesn't work plus buggy refresh / updating with emails.

http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/index.html

---

Javascript command "javascript:resetPage();" still causes tab crash/close out. Rest of Opera is fine, it just kills the existing tab. An example is on here when you click to "Log in" again.

ichik umer 26. September 2008, 23:33

And DeviantART submission is still broken…

pjn123 26. September 2008, 23:41

WebCT working better now (http://webct.sun.ac.za)

Can atleast see the "collapse menu area" button, but its now using 95+% of screen width when openned. When collapsed its fine

Do anyone here know if its possible to add a toolbar and tabs in fullscreen mode? I like fullscreen mode but would like to see atleast tabs and the address bar. Thanks for any help!

tim71 26. September 2008, 23:41

http://homepage.hispeed.ch/ttt-o/

With qt3 build all is OK, with qt4 build the whole page is unreadable mess...

Both on 32bit Ubuntu.

thehop 27. September 2008, 00:11

:smurf: thx! :coffee:

One small bug or "Feeds don't fail me now" -> Feeds Update still hangs again - always at the latest.

Malin 27. September 2008, 00:37

I eksperience high cpu load while playing flashvideo
I'm running kubuntu 8.04.1

R3van 27. September 2008, 01:06

when i scroll in the bookmarkpanel i can only scroll once till i move the mouse a little bit otherwise it doesn`t scroll anymore.

Open another panel in this area (babelfish for example) seems to fix it, but only till i open a link from my bookmarks, after that i can`t scroll if i don`t move my mouse on every rotate of my mousewheel.
System: Intel Mac
Opera: 9.5-9.6 (8.54 works)
Mouse: MX Revolution

Very annoying...

abbiji 27. September 2008, 01:37

Good good good.
But Opera is still haunted by bug-354281 and remains invalid.

Yamaneko 27. September 2008, 07:53

Opera not work with deviantART
http://neko.1g.fi/temp/deviantart_with_opera2/
Anyone else have this problem with Opera?

Anil 27. September 2008, 08:14

What a big chnage log!!! But this BIG BIG bug is not resolved even after 20 builds!!!!!

This bug makes opera unusable on https sites!!

bug-342122-s79

I am fed up off reporting this AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN!!!

Rafal 27. September 2008, 08:17

Yamaneko: Disable Content Blocker, save settings and try again. Some of the rules there might affect loading of DeviantArt.

Petr Reznicek 27. September 2008, 08:23

What about the favicons in personal bar bug?

markuznw 27. September 2008, 09:51

@Yamaneko
Works pretty fine for me with javascript enabled. Make sure you have the latest browser.js and no conflicting rules at content blocker (i'm using the fanboy ad list with no problems)

sebastian schuster 27. September 2008, 10:10

Regressions? Here you go...

- [Regression] Search is not working http://www.shortwavemonitor.com/05-10.htm (search for 5.100) bug-334564 http://www.simpsoncrazy.com/ (search for simpsons)

- [Regression] Freeze (http://www.hstt.net/forum/profile.php?mode=register&agreed=true) bug-349430 (not reported by me)

- [Regression] Browser.js disables the no-click-to-activate script bug-349528

adamas 27. September 2008, 10:33

God bless Opera. There's simply NO better browser.

malsumis 27. September 2008, 10:53

@ichik:

They said on deviantart forums that their tech dept is working on the issue.

Erich Meier 27. September 2008, 11:50

Nice!

But some quick reply messages still appear in draft after sent.

Shane Bundy 27. September 2008, 12:35

Great! But still disappointed not working on Google Page Creator :frown: BTW, has the layout bug been fixed on madcatz.com yet? :worried: And will there be an AMD only build of Opera for Windows? Because I use an AMD Duron K7 1.2 GHz Morgan core processor and I would like a 'custom' version of Opera for an AMD K7. It would really make my day.

adioni 27. September 2008, 13:59

Youtube playback (and flash based video players in general) seems very erratic. The video will manytimes buffer but the play/pause button either does nothing or plays for a second & two and then just stops. Likewise when seeking both back and forth the button on the seekbar many times bounces back to its orginal position when you release the mouse button or, again, plays the video for a second or two and then just stops.

This is with Flash version 9,0,124,0 on Vista and its been like this for quite a few builds for me.

illiad 27. September 2008, 15:42

zikzakatak: yes, I thought Gmail had eventually been fixed, though it may be something more complex...
- gmail changed opera handling
- user.js changed the way it handled it
- gmail changed/changed back its handling... (I always clear cookies, so it cannot be that... anything else that dynamically 'adjusts opera' ???)

I have been using 10433, but then it started the whole 'still working' thing agan... went back to FF for gmail....

I then found 10433 started 'pausing' youtube after 2 secs!!(it was OK the day before!!) went back to 10427, the same... closed all, restarted Pc, 10427 youtube ok... checked 10433, youtube ok... ?????

youtube ok in 10433 now, but needs 100% cpu, so freezes until the page has loaded(I can then click the || to get resources back)... oh well, lets try the latest...

Marcin Grotomirski 27. September 2008, 15:44

This snapshot looks much better than previous ones. I'm glad to see such a long changelog.
Twitter.js-strange behaviour still exists ( http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/2008/09/19/another-step#comment6067027 )

I've got a question: Are there any site, when one can find some information about goals of future Opera releases (i.e. performance, stability, and so on)?

Matt 27. September 2008, 15:51

Awesome. Sucks that I just got around to installing last week's build approximately 15 minutes ago. P:

Zdeněk Zikán 27. September 2008, 15:53

/usr/share/applications/opera.desktop in Linux package (opera_9.60.2436.gcc4.qt4_i386.deb) does not contain Norwegian Bokmål localisation ... how's it possible for Norwegian browser? :-)

Perryking 27. September 2008, 16:09

HOTMAIL doesnt work.

squillaz 27. September 2008, 16:29

There is a UI bug with tab focus I've noticed in past few versions. Basically, if you have Opera in windowed mode what can happen is that the "current" tab gets stuck and doesn't update when you click on another tab. So you get where it shows you're on one tab but you're really on another. I haven't been able to figure out how to make it repeatable, has anyone else had same thing happen?

Took a screenshot to try and illustrate it:
http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/7632/operabuglb9.png

Putting Opera back into full window mode seems to update it. Not a show stopper just really annoying. It doesn't seem to effect certain websites since I've had it happen a number of times on multiple sites.

edit:
Also, skin doesn't matter. I've had it happen on default as well as custom skin (m6black).

Gmail2 working perfectly for me. Only issue I'm seeing is the security bar switches to a question mark in the address bar, after reading a few emails; may be confusing for those that have HTTPS "ON" by default in Gmail2 settings.

Hotmail working fine here with Build 5238 on Mac. Having said that, leaving a "doesn't work" message is crude and useless for everyone here trying to help you out with any issues. Try including:

1. Your platform & version
2. More specificity about what's "not working"
3. Any changes in Opera settings you made that could affect it?
4. Default install or overwrite a previous Opera version?

tim71 27. September 2008, 17:39

www.guardian.co.uk

Take any article with comments - again qt3 build shows everything normally, but with qt4 build the comments are unreadable.

P.S. About my previous post - TTT's button page is unreadable with current 2436 qt4 build, but OK, when I tested 2430 qt4 build.

Looks like something is broken - at least in opera_9.60.2436.gcc4.qt4_i386.deb

GoJoeGo:

No, bugs are fixing something which behaves in other way than it should do. Improvements are changes to current functionality which improve it somehow (not just get it to non-broken state). At least that's commonly used terminology.
(And yes, I think it's good that developers do a lot of buxfixing.)

zikzakatak 27. September 2008, 18:03

opera has a hickup from time to time.

cpu usage goes 100% for 8-10 seconds and freezes.

Tim Altman 27. September 2008, 18:28

@cranil7: Have you tested this build? We've attempted to fix it this week.

JensusUT 27. September 2008, 19:59

Don't know the term, but with 9.27 i can see the entrys in our usermap at http://www.supernature-forum.de/vbmembermap.php

This build show me only the adress, look at these two pics:
Ok:
http://jensusut.wohlfuehlboard.de/bilder/member_2.jpg
Not Ok:
http://jensusut.wohlfuehlboard.de/bilder/member_1.jpg

Another small glitch:
Menu item in Tools > Advanced for displaying the security information dialog for the current page (Page Security Info) activates the fraud protection tab. not the security tab...

Regards

Jensus

adioni 27. September 2008, 21:35

Another thing I've noticed is that http://www.laptopmag.com/ rendering is all messed. Likewise on http://comicbookresources.com you're not able to click on & go to the 'lead' story. Works fine in IE & Firefox.

...but I'm assuming the above is that's due to squirrely html/css/coding?

Jerome Leveque 27. September 2008, 22:13

Thanks for this Browser for me it's the best.

for this build (maybe other I haven't check) opera_9.60.2436.gcc4.qt3_i386.deb the "Window" menu is not displayed in the menu bar between Tools and Help.

This RSS feed are not "previewed" : http://download.boulder.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles/thinkpad_t61.rss

If I save this page on my computer and open it as a local file it is "previewed"

Thanks again

Hey Opera devs!

GUI problem on QT4 deb builds (they're shared now it seems,-thx for that very much! ) --

If one is using one of the darker KDE4 QT themes (such as Wonton Soup, that is included by default)--feed and mail notifications are unreadable--as the blue/white text is washed out over the white notification background.

This build randomly crashes, just vanishing all of the sudden with no warning... opera_9.60.2436.gcc4.qt3_amd64.deb version.
