Opera Link duplicates
By Petter Nilsen. Friday, 10. October 2008, 11:23:53
Yesterday, our Opera Link server monitors noticed an increase in the server load on our Link server farm. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be because of increased traffic of items being added and synchronized, an increase far higher than expected from a new release alone. Our Opera Link server team soon realized that this was triggered by a bug in the 9.60 desktop browser and we went to work trying to identify the bug.
I'm happy to say that we managed to reproduce the bug and our Opera Link server team implemented a workaround on the server that is now live and seems to be running fine.
The users that were affected should no longer see this problem and duplicate bookmarks that got generated should all be gone.
This is also a good place to remind people that we do have a way to remove duplicate bookmarks for all to use. Go to the Opera Link web interface, then use the "Remove my duplicates..." link that is located on the left side.

There could also be an option to select what changes you want made (checkboxes next to every change)

Thanks Petter!
I'm rarely enter the Opera Link Web Interface, the removal of Duplicates Links adres is very useful. I have before doing it manually. Sometimes these Bookmarks, after a bad synchronization server were not in a folder, a beyond all folders (although I placed them there) Reporting is this a problem? He was not connected with duplicates of Bookmarks.
When we can expect synchronization of passwords or even emissions?
I noticed that the synchronization of searchings in Opera 9.60, their image-icons do not move (all new searchings, have "magnifying glass") Error is this in Opera 9.60?
Thank you! But whether this option to eliminate duplicates, it would be good to be embedded in the Opera Browser?

@LukinPl: disable synchronization in all your browsers, and delete the file link_queue_myopera.dat from your profile while Opera is closed.

Hey, does anyone know if it's possible to quickly add tabs to a different session without opening that session, opening the tab, then saving the session, closing the session, then re-opening the session you were originally in?
I find myself not using sessions as much as I'd like because they are only full of "old" stuff and I don't want to shelve my new tabs while looking at the old.
Of course--it doesn't need to be said that the auto-save of sessions is probably the coolest browser feature to date for packrats like me--you couldn't pry it from my cold, dead hands. I definitely use and love that aspect of sessions.

Well, that's what happened AFTER the "Remove Duplicates":
Any hints?
ToeBee # 11. October 2008, 02:06
Edit: it seems I forgot to shut down my browser at work so thats where the duplicates were coming from. But as far as I can see, the bug does still exist.

My bookmarks are duplicating like rabbits!
mgillespie # 11. October 2008, 10:39
Problem was fine, for a while, then duplicates started creeping in, I am now back where I started, some folders I have 8x copies of :-(
I think Opera need to nail this one quickly, it's clear Opera 9.60 has a serious issue.
What is the last working weekly we can revert back to, until 9.61 arrives 9AM monday morning????

My notes.adr is around 500 KB but after sync it grew up to 2,3 MB and every sync hangs the browser for few seconds so I had to disable the sync in order not to freak out and throw the whole thing out of my window.
