Irony born of disappointment over lack of a new toy (v10 build).

I got the same error and done everything that is in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/891985, the error still was. I lost so much time and finally I must uninstall 9.63 and reinstall 9.64. I lost all preferences and must reorganize one more time my SpeedDial. Opera 9.64 is most annoying upgrade. I remove info about this upgrade on my site.

I have an "Opera 9.6" folder just for this version (also a 9.5a folder not cleaned up, a 10 folder, a folder named just plain Opera, etc.).
When I went to "browse" for install location using the installer, it didn't actually browse. It refused to show me anything but the 9.5a folder and the 10 folder in "program files." How is that possible? I had to simply type in the install path, and then it worked fine.
But WTF?

http://www.ecare.com/ does not show the login feature anymore as it did fine in 9.63. I really needed this site to function at work today. I was so pissed, I put your enemy (Firefox) to do the job for me, and it did with no trouble at all. Also, some of my favorite sites still don't work such as http://mlb.mlb.com It just hangs there to piss me off, and I have sent bug reports on this in previous versions. I have tested the alpha 10 version and the site (mlb.com) works like a charm, Although, www.ecare.com does load the login feature in alpha 10, but fails to navigate the drop down menues(of corse you need a login username and password to access this feature). Look guys & gals, I'm totally with you about "Opera is dedicated to promoting Web standards across the globe and that web standards make the web available to anyone, on any device, anywhere in the world. But the truth is, I suffer when I support you when telling others about your product. 8 times out of ten, I get negative feeback, mostly about e-mail (Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail just to name a few and other websites. And perhaps it's not your fault, Open The Freakin Web Right? Sorry, but I guess after a while, Speed, nice features, are sometimes useless when surfing. I'm not saying that I have given up on Opera (cause I have not), All I'm saying is "I want the Opera desktop browser to be not just one of the best, but thee best browser in the world, hands down." I would pay $$$ to use your browser. Though I haven't used Opera from the begining of it's origin, I have long appreciated this tool since 9.23. OK, so I'm somewhat addicted to the features you provide me with. However, my wish is for Opera to solidify itself as being thee Internet. Not Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome, But Ladies and gentleman, "We bring you Peregrine." I'll probably get some negative feeback on this one, but I'm sure there are those who feel the same as I do. Thanks for reading as far as you did. Long day at work...

About time

All the admin interfaces of my serverprovider have "invalid" certificates (registered for a generic domain) to secure the connection. Usually I just had to approve the certificate.. now the sites are just stuck while loading (at 0%).
This will happen to everyone whose Provider uses Plesk or Virtuozzo. Both are quite common, so this is a big issue.
Is there a workaround?
ayespy # 4. March 2009, 03:51
Odd - ecare gives me a login dialog and mlb works fine. Min XP SP3, upgraded to 9.64 this AM.
Maybe if you reset your profile folder?
Are you behind a firewall at work maybe?
edit:
OK - my bad. I cannot figure out how/why my system did this, but I told it to update my O9.6 file and it made a new one instead. So I was running 9.63 before, when ecare worked. With 9.64, it hangs on requesting the login dialog. Mlb works fine in both, though.

Maby i should reset my profile.

Tried on two computers, one Ubuntu 8.10 and one Kubuntu 8.10.

ecare behavior was surprising - I accidentally left the browser tab on that page open after clicking for login dialog - later, happened to minimise the browser and there was a certificate exception dialog ON THE DESKTOP behind the browser, asking for OK on the ecare cert. I opted "always accept" and went back to the ecare page, clicked on login, and bang - the login dialog popped up immediately.

Thanks for the feeback on Ecare. Though I did have to wait a while myself to get that certificate message and it was hiding in the back too. It appears as if it did not save my selection to accept it cause I got the same message again the second time I tried to logon. Anyways, is it me or does this build drag more than usual? I did a clean install twice and still. Reset my profile as well. mlb.com still doesn't load completely, nort sure what else to do. Oh well not all that serious.
MrGalaxy # 4. March 2009, 15:50
what's wrong with nhl.com & formula1.com? It works in 10 alpha. So it should work in "stable" 9.64

(Trying Classical installer now.)

Go to
http://www.hjemhobby.no/mainpage.htm
Click on 'Annonser' in the top menu. Nothing happens! The link simply wont work!
Go to 'Nyheter', click on '[her]' anywhere on the page. Nothing happen!
If you copy the link and past it into the address bar, Opera displays a blank page (or sits still at previous page).
Edit: Looks like this only happens in Linux version
Edit2: My fault! It was the contentblocking!
Launchpad.net still did not work in 9.64, I will take my chances with 9.63 for now!
MrGalaxy # 4. March 2009, 16:24
it works fine in Vista-64 + Opera-10-alpha.
ayespy # 4. March 2009, 17:07
I don't notice any dragging.
When you saved the "accept" selection, did you use the security tab on the certificate dialog?
James Cassell # 4. March 2009, 19:07
edit: actually, I don't know where the focus goes; but it's certainly not on the address bar
edit2: it's not caused by opera; I rolled back to 9.63, and the problem exists there, too. I wonder what it is.
