Skin debugging and more

New snapshot available - now with all major platforms again smile Enjoy, and as always: your (constructive) feedback is welcome! Also, we are getting loads of useful crashlogs automatically submitted! Keep the devs busy! wink But: the more info you add in the crashlog dialog, the better. Please try not to submit the logs without any comments - having some details on the actual crash greatly speeds up identifying the actual issue. And fixing it smile

Note: If you come across any reproducible crash bugs, we would still appreciate it if you report them through the Bug Report Wizard.

WARNING: Please only test upgrading if you have backed up your Opera profile!

Nice big long... changelog wink Thanks folks!

Crash report improvements, and the crash upload dialog can be disabled from opera:config#UserPrefs|ShowCrashLogUploadDialog

Does this mean disable crash reporting or silently submit crash reports?

Usage report additions: Searches, number of accounts preferring HTML compose, spell check preference, log if the search was a default search from dropdown or history search from dropdown

I was hoping to see userjs stats added :-/ (bug #341105)

[CORE-20485] Don't always check cached redirects by default

Does this mean opera caches redirects now? or is this talking about a new option added? I don't understand

Is the "Text Selection On/Off" button new to this build? Either way it's awesome.

With it, I might be able to go back to using Opera on my Tablet PC w/ passive-digitizer instead of using Firefox with the grab & drag add-on. Is there anyway to make the current text selection setting persistent when creating new tabs?

UNIX (x64) builds: up.

When do we get Qt4?

Miladin MiladinoskiEagleMKD Friday, May 8, 2009 4:24:25 PM

Fantastic! yes

Thanks a lot for the qt4 linux builds, I can finally test one of Opera's turbo snapshots on my machine!

Oh, the detailed changelogs are so awesome! Thanks! up

echoes1 Friday, May 8, 2009 4:32:42 PM

i'm not using this build on principle and for a technical reason. for god's sake opera, if you refuse to offer qt4 x86_64 builds, for those of us on pure kde4, please make qt3 static builds!!

Zotlan Friday, May 8, 2009 4:35:47 PM

Ah, nice bigsmile
I'd lost hope we'd see a new build this week.

GroovyMicky Friday, May 8, 2009 4:37:58 PM

Problems on the following sites persist (most of these problems are similar in Opera 9.6):

europe.real.com/video - bottom center: Movies - not playing at all
facebook - if you drag&drop News feed filters on left they disappear
youtube - horizontal bar too long
www.profilo-telra.com - not loading, high CPU usage
wbcn.com & mix985.com - sites refreshing itself forever
top500.org & washingtontimes.com - slightly bad render
european-films.net - top banner screwed
singinst.org - red button bottom left not clickable

Old bug DSK-240775 still present (opera.exe process not quiting itself after exit if using Yahoo Java games).

Spellcheck - "Ignore all" is not ignoring all underlined words.

[System: Intel, WinXP_SP3, Opera10_1491]

QT4 debian build crashes permanently by clickin on menu. --> not usable

QT3 works without problems.

Bill PBill_P Friday, May 8, 2009 5:09:41 PM

"Empty trash" does not seem to be working (in panel) but right clicking "delete permanently" in the tab window clears trash

Simo85 Friday, May 8, 2009 5:23:43 PM

Thanks for the new release, but this website
http://www.shop.gasjeans.com/index.php/eshop/category/Gas-Jeans-Coat.html?a=/1/frmCatID/1792/

is not correct to see :-(

Rijk Friday, May 8, 2009 5:34:22 PM

@svobodniy some context would be nice... I'm installing Opera as non-admin user and that works fine after giving the password for elevation. But I haven't tried all combinations of Classic/MSI/upgrading/clean/running etc.

fernando823Fer84 Friday, May 8, 2009 5:40:04 PM

I don't like the new 'panels' icon (doesn't fit in any way) but it's a great idea trying to make it more intuitive thought!
The clear private info icon has also changed?? was better before!
IMHO, icons in general are pretty ugly since the black skin was adapted.
I also don't like the 'separator' between the search and URL places.

By the way, in my opinion it's much more beauty the grey (silver) color used in the last stable versions (like 9.64) than the new one. Why did u changed it?

When will you add more languages for the spell check?

Could you please specify which Qt style you use for Qt4?

axel668 Friday, May 8, 2009 5:54:53 PM

Cool, love this one ... lots of bugs fixed and it feels even faster !! Thanks a lot, Opera Team yes

Crashes here on any menu, bug filed as #252563
OPensuse 11.1 KDE4.2.2 QT4.5

Same here while using Classic installer to upgrade previous "classic installation". But this happens for a while already (since first builds of 10). I just answer "No" to rollback question, and it "works" somehow.

Well styling works for me on Ubuntu 9.04, qt4 version. When I start Opera, I see those ugly standard Opera menus, but immediately after starting the system appearance manager, the menus change and respect the system style.

FataL Friday, May 8, 2009 6:02:57 PM

New "Open panel" icon looks strange with the panel on the right side setup.
Also the icon looks like a tab which is also strange in current state of skin.

serious Friday, May 8, 2009 6:04:04 PM

sounds great. I hope I find some time during the weekend to check it out (maybe when I reinstall my main machine)

Kamaleshkamalesh Friday, May 8, 2009 6:05:02 PM

Nice build, guys & girls! wink

Noticing anchor tags aren't working at PBS site. (Mac-intel build)

EDIT: Reported as bug# DSK-252567.

Thx for confirming on *nix, Win. up

when i go to https://www.kiva.org/app.php?page=account and hover over the options near the top of the page (LEND, ABOUT, COMUNITY etc)the whole page seems to try to reload ... can anyone else see that?

XP SP3

Zotlan Friday, May 8, 2009 6:19:58 PM

It's just loading the image for the hovered button i think. A case of bad site design.

EDIT: really weird, UserJS seems not to be working for me any more on my.opera pages.

tomassplatch Friday, May 8, 2009 6:23:18 PM

I was wondering what kind of a new panel icon you were talking about, I see now after installing the windows build - there is still the old icon in linux version (which is good, as I don't like the new one).

EDIT: my mistake, I didn't make clean install, now I see it...

Hovering does trigger the colored buttons and it seems slow (creating a "shaking" action), but after clicking on a few other buttons, after they get cached seems to work smoothly...

I don't think it's available yet for Mac builds. You can install SCR instead to auto-report your Mac issues (and try to add a description to better aid the Opera elves. wink).

Skully Friday, May 8, 2009 6:33:11 PM

Anchors do not work on unix build here too. (tried on wikipedia for example)
edit:
They seem to work on some sites and some not.

http://de.selfhtml.org/javascript/objekte/anchors.htm#length do work

MetalRaise Friday, May 8, 2009 6:36:51 PM

I agree with others that the new panel icon isn't really a win. It's way too shiny, doesn't blend in with the rest of the skin too well.

As already mentioned, anchors do not seem to work in this build (Windows user here).
For example, go to Opera's Wikipedia article and click any of the links in the 'Contents' table.
Anchors not working is pretty annoying in forums, too.

[CORE-11248] Nested forms break layout

up
I see some sites are fixed now (IndyMac Federal Bank, acdivoca.org).
But generic test suite still not fixed. bug DSK-251641

idea Hope to see more fixes like this before version 10 will be released.

rseiler Friday, May 8, 2009 7:06:21 PM

What's the trick these days to eliminate the Opera tray icon? Are we back to needing to use a switch? Until the last couple builds, that hadn't been necessary as long as you disabled mail/news.

I wonder if d.i.z. can work his userJS magic again to fix the anchor tag problem?
