Approaching the final Opera 10.0 release

We are quickly approaching the final release of Opera 10.0, so we have been working on fixing bugs and stabilizing the program.

What we need to do now is to identify any remaining issues that are serious enough to block the release (so-called "showstoppers"). There are some more bugfixes coming up, so we are not quite ready for a release candidate yet, but you should definitely let us know about any serious issues we may have missed.

This build includes numerous bugfixes and general stability work, as well as skin fixes, and some important changes to Opera Link. Opera Unite has also received some attention based on the feedback from the public.

Opera Link

There are a few changes in Opera Link, so we hope you can take it for a spin and report any regressions. Improvements include better automatic merging of duplicate bookmarks due to fixes on the client side.

Note that synchronizing search engines might not be working correctly, and requires a server-side fix which will arrive later.

Known Issues
  • Native skins are not finished yet. Several issues remain.
  • Opera Unite is not working in Unix Qt4 builds.
  • Synchronizing search engines might not work yet

I have a generic suggestion. There should be a radically different icon for NON-STABLE builds, snapshots, etc. Helps enforce the message that this is not your normal run-of-the-mill opera install. Just a thought.

Wen hiding menubar the shortcuts to reach "file", "view" etc. are different then normal. Can you make it the same?

The turobdialog: In German language the top text ist cut off (the last word).

A suggestion:
Add an option for the progressbar popup to show at the top of Opera under the addressbar. That would be very great!!

Good work so far.

And a question:
Is it possible to hold the "easy view" of the progressbar and get also the popup?

How come that the previous build had Qt4 fixes, but no Qt4 build, while Unite should be available (it was in the Qt3 build), but now you can't use Unite when you want Qt4? What's up with this? You guys fix one thing, but break another. I know some things aren't as easy as it may sound, but having Unite in the Qt4 build shouldn't cause so much issues, now should it?

Off topic: i can't unintall unite build, there is no such app in uninstall programs window, when opening uninst via program files, gives error that .log is not found

Installed this build, can't start, gives 'opera needs restart' error.

I'd say more - they are very not native :/ Previous version seemed to do better in that area. Besides:
- status bar inside adress bar (not simple version) still doesn't work
- still can't choose where to place menu button...

After installing, Opera immediately went into an infinite crash loop. I have to dump my profile to get it to start at all. I uploaded only 3 crash logs. Is it know that the /settings command-line option is and has been broken?

More speed every new version of 10 is slower, Peacekeeper confirm that.

New "Fit to width" button is rather ugly. Previous icon was better. New one is too dark and primitive.
Icon for new page (red table) is not good also. I'd prefer more calm colour.

Having issues with a server-generated pdf not opening or being downloaded. We use an internal intranet called Workamajig (formerly Creative Manager Pro). It is flash-based and to print out reports, the server generates PDFs for the info and, depending on the browser, opens the PDF or downloads it. All other browsers will do this. Opera won't. It gets to a page from where the PDF is called to be generated and hangs.

I can't give a URL, cause it's an intranet. It is asp and the source that I view on the page where it hangs is just a small frameset.

One quesiotn: Does Opera still reopens already closed tabs when restarting Opera? This happens to me since the last 3 or 4 snapshots (including Beta 1).

Furthermore, will we see a new program icon for Opera 10 Final?

These two don't mix very well. If you have a dark theme, you will have white text on black backgrounds. Now the alternate rows are black and white. Guess what's going to happen with that? Right, you won't be able to read half of it, because the text is either defined as black in the skin, or white from the theme. Luckily not all skins have this hard difference, but the default and native skin do. This is a really dumb thing to miss.

Since few snapshots I have annoying bug in Opera... it doesn't start with tabs I closed it (using: Startup -> Continue from last time). Usually it's leaving open tabs which I closed before quiting it.

I hope it will be fixed before final v10 :wink:

Thanks for the new version. I have not been able to check whether it is faster than the old one. However, it hangs on displaying www.theonion.com (keeps saying "Completed request to amch.questionmarket.com" in the status bar.) and LinkedIn (keeps saying "Completed request to static.linkedin.com"). The "Stop" button never seeems to change to the "Reload" button. Apparently the request never times out.
