Approaching the final Opera 10.0 release
By Haavard. Wednesday, 24. June 2009, 14:30:00
We are quickly approaching the final release of Opera 10.0, so we have been working on fixing bugs and stabilizing the program.
What we need to do now is to identify any remaining issues that are serious enough to block the release (so-called "showstoppers"). There are some more bugfixes coming up, so we are not quite ready for a release candidate yet, but you should definitely let us know about any serious issues we may have missed.
This build includes numerous bugfixes and general stability work, as well as skin fixes, and some important changes to Opera Link. Opera Unite has also received some attention based on the feedback from the public.
Opera Link
There are a few changes in Opera Link, so we hope you can take it for a spin and report any regressions. Improvements include better automatic merging of duplicate bookmarks due to fixes on the client side.
Note that synchronizing search engines might not be working correctly, and requires a server-side fix which will arrive later.

WARNING: This is a development snapshot: It contains the latest changes, but may also have severe known issues, including crashes and data loss situations. In fact, it may not work at all.

Will HTML reply be fixed for the final version?
Forward and redirect works but replying an HTML mail only quotes the plaintext - DSK-254998
Although it's of no interest to me, many users have mentioned it so it might be cool to make switching search engines easy from the GUI, in the default searchbar and also on speeddial - instead of having to trawl through opera:config

But I have a question : Why Opera 10 doesn't support HTML 5 ? Opera 9.52 of Labs ( http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/a-call-for-video-on-the-web-opera-vid/ ) works great on http://tinyvid.tv/show/2qj2sgo3tvmpl (other examples on http://www.double.co.nz/video_test/ ).
Thx for your future answer.

Thanks, Opera, now I have to advise all my friends my new direction.
And I'm sorry, I like this software, and the enterprise, the community and all of it, but I think this is not fair.
Anyway... saludos

Since years ago when I hided my menu, I haven't needed it and now I'm forced to watch ugly (it doesn't even use my skin so its wrong color) button in my tab-bar.
Still no easy way to hide speed dial (have to go settings -> hide), thats irritating in long run (I hide it when I don't need it).
@Leighman: confirmed, Same problem here.
Also in older computer (600mhz 376ram) it takes 7-15min to operas process vanish from taskmanager. Opera uses ~100% processor during that time. Is there any way to close opera faster?

I need clarification on the Google mail problem.
Google mail comes into opera OK if I want to download mail from a folder/Label on the Google server I need to go to Mail>IMAP Folders and tick or subscribe to the particular google folder/label Yes?? OK I do that and all the email in the subscribed folders/Labels are downloaded to opera and I can now search for any thing in that I might want to see.
The problem is all NEW email that arrive after are downloaded twice, once in the IMAP folder and once in the Mailing list folder.
Can anyone from Opera confirm if this is the way IMAP mail is supposed to work please.

When I have all the mail showing be it read or unread and I press the Thread Button every mail that is showing under the mailing list disappear and the only way to get them back again is to click on the specific mailing list and all mail are shown again!
When viewing the same mailing list via the IMAP folder all the emails will disappear apart from the last email received and any subsequent email in that thread and they are shown as a thread.

1.Testing a website on Opera, I set "background-image:url(x.jpg)" for a DIV on the css file, so I test the web site and then edit the background image on any bitmap editor, then I overwrite the file and reload the page. The background looks the same, Opera didn't reload the background image, I tested on Firefox and it always reload the image when I click on the reload button. (I've to restart Opera in order to get my background image updated)
Sometimes, (maybe always) when I start Opera, it opens the last tab I closed the last time I used Opera. Example, I open google.com on my 3rd tab, then I close that tab (2 tabs remaining)... close Opera. >>> then Start Opera again and it starts with 3 tabs opened, the 3rd is google.com (the one I closed)

I'm probably guilty of this on occasion as well - but here on WinXP SP3, I see no such problems. So, what are you on?

2. Native skin is not finished I know, but the initial direction is fairly terrible. It looks like a broken version of the standard skin which doesn't seem like a good place to start for the "simple native basic alternative" skin. I use Windows Classic look, and I see from some of the desktopteam's past screenshots that some Opera employees obviously do too. Under Windows Classic, the native skin looks like it's trying to be vista-ish... (again, I'm well aware this is very unfinished so take this point with a pinch of salt)
3. LOVE the new bookmark icons.
4. I quite like the new drop-down menu from the alternative menu-button. Is this setup available in normal menus in any way (two column menu - like the XP Startmenu, which I always liked). It still can't be removed though - is this by design or will this bug be resolved by final release? I quite like the menu, but I want the button gone.
5. Opera logo on the door of the house is quite funny.
6. Address-bar looks completely wrong when you've thumbnail tabs disabled (as in completely disabled, with no draggable bar showing). This looked fine in previous build.
7. Speed-dial favicon is AWFUL.
